Shadows of Global Destruction: Destruction Continues

Chapter 6: The Descent

The journey to Atlantis-One was perilous. The team had acquired a submarine through one of their allies in the Coalition, but navigating the treacherous waters near the facility posed a challenge. Lila worked on the submarine’s systems while Victor plotted their course. The tension in the air was palpable.

As they descended deeper into the ocean, the sunlight faded, leaving them in near-total darkness, save for the faint glow of their instruments. The pressure outside the submarine increased as they approached the facility’s coordinates.

“We’re getting close,” Lila announced, her voice quiet in the tense atmosphere.

Through the viewport, the team saw the massive structure of Atlantis-One come into view. It was a sprawling facility, built into the ocean floor, its metal walls reinforced to withstand the crushing weight of the sea. Bright lights illuminated the base, casting eerie shadows across the deep-sea environment.

Mira glanced at the facility, her heart pounding. “Let’s hope Raul’s information is good. If we can disable their main power grid, we might have a chance to get in undetected.”

As they prepared to dock at one of the facility’s lower access points, an unexpected problem arose. Lila’s monitor flashed red, signaling an incoming security drone. The facility had an automated defense system, and the drones patrolled the waters surrounding it.

“We need to act fast,” Lila said, quickly taking control of the submarine’s defense system. “I’ll try to disable the drone before it alerts the facility.”

Victor, watching through the viewport, spotted the sleek, metal form of the drone as it approached. “It’s getting closer.”

Lila's fingers flew across the keyboard as she hacked into the drone’s system. The submarine shuddered as the drone fired a warning shot, but within moments, Lila successfully disabled it, sending it drifting into the depths.

“Close call,” Amir muttered, wiping sweat from his forehead.

Mira nodded. “We’re in. Let’s move.”
