Back at Coalition headquarters, Amir and Lila monitored the team’s progress. The situation was dire—each of the labs had been alerted to their presence, and time was running out. If the team didn’t destroy the labs soon, the virus would spread uncontrollably.

“We need to get them out of there,” Lila said, her fingers flying across the keyboard as she tried to disable the labs’ security systems remotely.

Amir watched the monitors, his heart racing. “They’re not going to make it in time.”
