Ray had gotten a gist of his situation he was in a trial set up by the nightmare spell

As far as he remembered once in the trail you had to kill monsters or complete some kind of scenario

Then he remembered his bestfriend Ron telling Ray and his girlfriend that once u go in the trial a timelapse scene of the scenario is shown and one have to act accordingly to end it...

He even remembered that he said it like he was hinting to be a sleeper

' showoff '

This is why Ray never liked people all they wanted was to feel superior to other honestly he talked to Ron because his bragging was bearable enough

Coming back to matter at hand

' so that was a rewind to what's gonna happen here huh ! '

All of these people were gonna die but before all of that it was his head which was gonna roll off like a ball in front of a crowd which did not like him at all

'But why did I get in an old mans body.?'

Ray thought to himself considering was this a mistake or a prank he remembered something

'Powers '

All the awakened were famous because of powers which they got from nightmare spell so what was his.?

Despite acting mature of his age Ray had secretly read one or two manhwas and knew things like status and description

So when he thought about these and focused shimmering runes appeared in front of him although he did not know this ancient alphabet, the meaning behind it was somehow clear.

This statement alone had made Ray's jaw drop thinking this was the end even if he somehow miraculously survived this trial but he won't be able to survive winter solstice.

"No way I'm dead meat"

While Ray was worriedly brainstorming how to survive the door to his room suddenly opened and a young man entered the room

The young man had a pristine skin and charming eyes which would be a sight to behold by ladies and a sight to destroy by the men as he walked he carried a sense of awe and dignity all of this was more than enough to convince Ray that the man infront of him was a awakened.

The young man sat down seeing Ray's worried expression the young man jokingly said

"don't be worried brother I am not angry and I've told Raizen to be nice with you when I'm gone"

'What the fuck was this guy spouting who's scared of him'

Ray thought to himself and choose to remain quiet

"I am sorry I have to go and leave everything to you like the father did but you see he hasn't came back for a while and you know how the situation is right now so I'll have to go out to get help"

Even while saying all this he looked noble. Ray himself was surprised seeing someone like him so he decided to reply in kind

"Be careful little brother come back soon I'll be waiting for you keeping everyone safe"

The young man smiled and said " that you would but make sure to not slack on gathering your soul core i can sense it it's almost formed "

"Now I shall take my leave I was here to meet you before I go"

Watching his supposed little brother pass through the gates of city Ray had gotten a deep clarification on his current situation

He was the elder son of family who oversaw this village and something had happened here so their father had gone out to get help and never came back so now his brother was going out for help and to find their father.

He also concluded his family was a prestigious Awakened family but despite being in such an family and being it's hereditary heir he was not an awakened

Well it was mainly due to the aspect but the person whose role Ray had taken must have lead a truly sad life being hated by his own kin . Trying his best to attain something yet failing to do so because it wasn't meant to be it was indeed cruel

Though he had gotten clarification Ray was still confused to why he was still alive in the vision he saw his head rolling after that his brother was supposed to go did his brother let him live because he responded in kind considering such theories Ray thought how he was supposed to save everyone in the village or atleast survive himself with such a crappy aspect

Coming to a conclusion Ray muttered to himself

"This really is a nightmare"
