Shadow Slave: Chain Breaker

In the darkness of the forgotten shore. On the statue of the priestess. Sunny's body stirred, and then he slowly opened his eyes.

He looked around him. There were black scales closing around him, making it seem like he was in a cave. But Sunny quickly realized it was Serpent's body.

[Author's note: I'll address Serpent as a he. I know he's genderless, but I always keep writing him as a he, so it's annoying always fixing this mistake to it. So from now on, he is a he.]

After his Ascending, Serpent's body grew at least twice as large as when he was an awakened. Sunny estimated that Serpent's length was around 20m now. Which is quite massive.

Saint was standing next to Sunny. Watching him with her usual indifferent expression.

Sunny ordered Serpent to get back to his tattoo form. While his body was moving to Sunny's hand. Sunny saw that it currently was night. He estimated that it's probably the same day and he hadn't slept more than a day.

Sunny stretched his body as he felt that there were a few bruises that hadn't been healed yet, but he was sure that by the dawn, it'd be healed.

He dismissed Saint to his soul sea and just sat there alone. Having nothing to do, Sunny summoned his runes:

Today, he was able to get two memories. The first being the [Starlight shard]. Which was Effie's in his past life, since she was the one who killed the lord of the dead.

The second, was the [Blood Arrow], which he gave to Kai since he didn't know how to use a bow. But now, it was different. Sunny was practically a master with every weapon. And even if he didn't know how to use one, it wouldn't take much time to learn it and master it.

Needles to say, Blood Arrow was an interesting memory that could be deadly in Sunny's hands. And it was for a simple reason. Sunny focused on its runes:

The main reason why Sunny found it interesting was because of its first enchantment, [Rain of blood], which uses his own blood. And considering that the blood of the shadow god flows in his veins and even devoured Weaver's lineage. Sunny was sure that it would be deadly.

Summoning the Arrow, he felt a bit of his blood suddenly disappear when the Arrow started forming.

Sunny looked at the bloodied arrow. Although its color should've been red due to the fact that it's formed from Blood. The Arrow looked like it was made out of Shadows. Which is what Sunny's body has become after consuming the shadow god lineage.

The Arrow was emanating a cold and deadly aura that made Sunny shiver a bit. He was sure of that now. This memory, in his hands, would be destructive.

Sunny grinned and dismissed the Arrow, feeling the lost blood coming back.

Since Sunny couldn't do anything now that it was night, he just laid on his back on stared at the empty sky.

Having nothing in his mind, memories of his past life started playing in his head. Nephis saying his true name, enslaving him and making him leave her behind, alone.

Sunny gritted his lips unconsciously.

'This time, I won't repeat the same mistake. I swear I won't let her stay alone again, even if it meant putting my life on the line.'

Sunny wasn't quite sure if he should consider his regression a bless. Although it seemed like everything was going smoothly. Sunny still had this bitter feeling in the back.

How did he regress? He thought of this question multiple times. Such a thing as going back through time was impossible to Sunny. But such a thing as going back through time could be possible to the gods or even the deamons.

So that made a new question. There is definitely a culprit behind his regression. The only suspect Sunny had in his mind was Weaver. Other than him, it seemed like all the gods and deamons were dead.

Of course, it could be just a coincidence. Of course, that's what Sunny wants to believe, to stop this train of thoughts that got him nowhere. Now, he must focus on his goals and make sure he avoids the mistakes he did.

Lost in his thoughts for an unknown time. Sunny noticed the sun emerging. Causing the water levels to go down

After some time, Sunny reached the great wall and climbed it. Up there, he looked at the city of ruins that was filled with nightmare creatures.

Before he goes back, Sunny wants to test [Blood arrow].

He scanned the area from up the wall, looking for a prey. Suddenly, his eyes fell on a spire messager moving in the main streets.

'Prey found.' Sunny quickly descended the great wall and got close to where the spire messenger was.

Hiding in one of the roofs of one of the buildings. Sunny ordered Serpent to turn into a bow and summoned [Blood Arrow].

A deep black bow that was made out of black scales appeared in his hands. Its string was solid black and looked as if it was made of pure shadows.

After the arrow was summoned, Sunny quickly adjusted his bow and then started pulling the string back.

It was hard to pull back. But even then, Sunny didn't need to augment himself with his shadows, he was able to pull it all the way back.

Enveloping his five shadows on the cold arrow that was made out of his blood. Sunny aimed to the spire messanger's head. Then, he released the string.

The arrow launched with a scary speed that torn the winds that were in its way. Before the spire messanger could even react. The arrow pierced right through it without any resistance.

The ground shattered under the impactful force of the arrow that penetrated the creature's body, coming out from the other side and crushing into the ground.

[You have slain a Fallen Monster, Cursed Herald.]

[Your shadow grows stronger.]

Sunny froze, his eyes widened with surprise. Only one shot, he was able to kill a fallen monster with only one shot!

Sunny's body started trembling as a smile slowly appeared on his face

"Ha...haha....hahaha." Sunny started laughing like a mad man.

"What kind of monster have I become, really?"
