Seven Mothers: All Seven Of My Mothers Are Heavenly Goddesses?!

Chapter 2: The Insurmountable Trial

My birth mother came into my life like a storm, unannounced and unapologetic, after years of being nothing more than a distant memory and a whispered story.

I had spent so long wondering about her, imagining what kind of person she might be, and there she was, her presence in front of me. She was everything I expected and yet nothing like I imagined—powerful, charming, and carrying an air of authority that made it impossible to look away.

But her arrival wasn't just a reunion. It wasn't a happy homecoming or a chance to finally fill in the gaps of my past.

No, she came with a purpose, one that shattered the fragile wall I had built around my life.

It all began when I was suddenly pulled into an infinite white void.

One moment I was in my basement, trying to figure out how I was going to slaughter the man who was stalking one of my mothers, and the next, I was standing in a space that seemed to stretch endlessly in every direction.

I looked around, confused and disoriented. There was no floor beneath me, yet I stood firmly. No walls or ceiling, yet the place felt strangely enclosed.

It was silent, except for the pounding of my heart as I tried to make sense of where I was.

Then, I heard it—a voice that seemed to wrap around me like a warm embrace.

"My precious Luca." She uttered softly, filled with a motherly warmth that eased the chaos in my mind. "You don't understand just how happy your mother is to see her baby boy again!"

It was a heavenly voice, melodic and powerful, each word resonating deep within me. I froze, every thought in my mind wiped away by the sound.

Before I could ask who or what it was, the voice continued.

"Before you even ask, let me tell you that I'm your true mother...Your proud mother that gave birth to your beautiful self."

Something about it just…clicked.

I didn't question it, didn't hesitate to believe her. I didn't need proof.

Somehow, I knew she was telling the truth. Her voice carried a warmth and familiarity that struck me to my core. It felt as though I had been waiting my whole life to hear it.

"Who—Where—" I tried to form words, but before I could, she laughed, a cheerful, light-hearted laugh that made the void feel a little less daunting.

"Oh, right! Introductions!" She said, her tone suddenly playful. "I am a Goddess! One of the most powerful Goddess, if not the most! Your mother, up from the heavens!"

"You don't need to know what jurisdiction I have over the universe since you aren't allowed to know such sensitive information yet, but you can call me…Hmm, well, just 'Mom', I guess?"

" ...You've already been calling me that in your heart, haven't you?"

A Goddess? It sounded absurd, like something out of a storybook. Yet, with every word she spoke, the truth of it felt undeniable.

"You're a…Goddess?" I managed to stammer.

"Exactly! Aren't you proud, Luca?...Aren't you proud that your mother is probably the most powerful existence in the entirety of the Astral Realm?!" She said with a giggle, as if this were the most normal thing in the world. She then continued at her own pace, saying in a cheerful tone, "Now, now, I know you must be wondering why you've never seen me before, right?...Why I left you to be raised by those beautiful women, who I personally call my beloved sisters?...Well, let me explain!"

I waited, holding my breath.

"You see." She began, her voice steady but filled with a wisdom that made every word feel heavy with meaning. "All children born to gods must undergo a trial before they can claim true godhood. It's not something we can simply pass on by birth...It's much like how some parents withhold their inheritance until their children prove they deserve it...Us supreme beings aren't allowed to directly transfer our power to our offspring. Instead, the universe expects them to fulfil a trial, one that demonstrates they've earned it."

"And for your trial as my son, I was tasked with sending my child, you, down to the mortal world to live and grow until the time came for you to fulfil your trial...I wasn't allowed to interfere directly because, well, that's part of the test!..Tough love and all that, you know?" Her voice had an almost mischievous lilt, as if she found the whole situation amusing...But I wasn't laughing.

"Then why-" I started, but she cut me off with a knowing hum.

"Ah, yes! Your seven mothers!" She suddenly said, her tone turning almost reverent. "They aren't just any women like you think, my dear. They are my Valkyries—beings born alongside me, my loyal guardians. They were sent down with you to protect and raise you in my absence."

My breath caught in my throat. My mothers...Valkyries?

The idea seemed ridiculous, yet as the words sank in, it explained so much. Their beauty, their strength, their unwavering dedication. They weren't ordinary women. They were divine beings, entrusted with a mission far beyond anything I had imagined.

"They love you as much as I do, you know." She added softly, her voice filled with tenderness. "They were by your side because I knew they would keep you safe, nurture you, and prepare you for what's to come."

The weight of her words settled on me. My whole life, everything I had known, suddenly felt like a puzzle I was only now beginning to piece together.

My seven mothers weren't just my caretakers. They were Valkyries, otherworldly beings who had raised me not just out of duty but out of love.

Just when I thought I was beginning to grasp the enormity of what she'd told me, her being my true mother, a Goddess, and my seven mothers being her Valkyries, she shifted the conversation back to something even more baffling.

"And now." She said gently, but with a seriousness that sent shivers down my spine. "It's time for you to fulfil your trial and become a god."

Her words hung in the air, heavy with meaning.

A trial? My trial?...My mind raced, trying to imagine what it could be.

Would it be something grand, like slaying a monster that threatened the world or solving a riddle that held the key to some ancient power? Maybe it was a journey to discover some hidden truth about myself or the universe. Something worthy of a divine legacy.

Before I could dwell on it for too long, she shattered my daydreams with a single sentence.

"You need to make your mothers fall in love with you and impregnate every single one of them."

I blinked, certain I had misheard.

"Wait…What?" I asked, my voice unsteady. "What did you say, mother? Could you repeat what you just said since my ears just heard something absolutely absurd?''

"You heard me." She said once again, her voice calm and unwavering. "Your trial is to make your seven mothers fall in love with you and stuff their bellies with my future grandchildren."

For a moment, I was completely frozen, my mind refusing to process what she'd just said.

My seven mothers? Fall in love with me? How could she even suggest such a thing?

"But…Why?" I managed to choke out, confusion and disbelief pouring out of me. "Why would you make that my trial? Out of everything in the world, out of everything you could've chosen—Why this!?"

She answered as though it were the simplest thing in the world. "Because you're my son." She said, as if that explained everything.

When I didn't respond, still too stunned to speak, she elaborated.

"You are my child, Luca, and as the only son of someone who even the other Gods dare not speak to without bowing their heads, you inherited immense potential...Potential so devastating that thousands of worlds were created upon the time of your birth, and a fissure was created in the Karmic Line that guides the ever-expanding universe, which is something that has never been seen before."

She said in slight awe, like she herself felt a little threatened by my presence when she was an almighty Goddess herself.

"That's why any ordinary trial would have been far too easy for you to overcome...I needed to give you something that would truly challenge you, something that would test your very limits and show the universe that you deserve to bear such power."

She paused, as if to let the gravity of her words sink in.

"That's why your trial is a matter of the heart, my son." She continued, her voice growing softer. "To make the seven women who have cared for you and raised you, who have known you only as their son, fall in love with you as something more. It's not just about love; it's about connection, about overcoming boundaries that seem insurmountable, which is why you also have to make their bellies swell with your children."

Her words struck me like a thunderbolt. My mind raced back to my mothers, their faces flashing in my mind—each one beautiful, graceful, kind, and perfect in their own way.

But they weren't just women. They were my mothers. They'd fed me, bathed me, scolded me when I misbehaved. They were the ones who stayed up late when I was sick, who celebrated my achievements, and who were there for every moment of my life.

How could she expect me to see them as anything but that? How could she expect me to undo a lifetime of bonds forged through care and love in its purest, most selfless form?

"It's impossible…" I murmured to myself.

"That's exactly why it's your trial." She said, her tone tinged with a strange kind of pride. "What could be more impossible than making the women who have loved you as their child see you in a completely different light?...To reach their hearts in a way that transcends the bonds you've shared so far?"

I felt my chest tighten as her words sank in. She wasn't wrong—it was impossible.

They'd raised me. They'd been by my side my entire life. To them, I wasn't a man; I was a boy who once cried over scraped knees and spilt milk. And yet, here she was, telling me to cross that boundary, to transform the very nature of our relationship.

But this was my trial...Not hers. Mine...A mortal's path to ascend, to step into the heavens and claim the mantle of divinity.

A task so grand, so absurd, it was meant to push me beyond my limits and give me power that went beyond the limit of understanding...But even so, I didn't want it.

"No." I said, my voice steady but firm. "I won't do it."

Her presence didn't waver, but there was a noticeable pause.

"I'm happy as I am." I continued, trying to keep my tone even. "I don't need to be a god, mom. Let me stay mortal and keep the same relationship with my mothers...You can also visit me whenever you want, right? You're an all-powerful Goddess after all. You could probably cross between worlds anytime."

I joked and smiled, thinking that I had found a loophole, a way out of this madness. But then she sighed, a soft, almost pitying sound that sent a chill through me.

"It's not that simple, my son." She said quietly, her voice tinged with sadness. "The trial of gods is cruel by design. If you were to fail, or even deny the trial…" She hesitated for the first time, as if reluctant to say the next part. "Your existence—and the world itself you exist in—would be erased."

Her words hit me like a hammer.

My existence?...The world?...Erased?

"You're joking." I said, my voice trembling. But I already knew she wasn't.

"I wish I were." She replied softly. "But that's the nature of this path. It's a test of ultimate consequence. And it's not just your existence at stake."

"W-What… what do you mean?" I felt a sinking dread creep over me.

She hesitated again, then said the words I feared most.

"Your mothers…They won't survive either."

"No!" I shouted, anger and panic flooding me all at once. "That's not fair! They're Valkyries, aren't they?!...Divine beings!...They should be safe!"

But my mother didn't flinch at my outburst.

"The moment they chose to step down into the mortal world with you, their fates became bound to yours." She explained. ''If you die—if you cease to exist—they will, too.''

I couldn't breathe. The weight of it all crushed me in an instant. My denial, my refusal to participate in this absurd trial, wasn't just about me anymore. It wasn't just my life on the line. It was theirs. All seven of them.

The thought of losing them, of being the reason they were erased from existence, was unbearable. I couldn't even process it. My knees felt weak, and I wanted nothing more than to wake up from this nightmare.

And yet, here I was...Trapped in this cruel reality, with no way out, which brings me back to the present.
