Chapter 235: Chapter 235: Tenth Peak Elder Shen Mo Promoted to Third-Cauldron Elder
Chapter 235: Tenth Peak Elder Shen Mo Promoted to Third-Cauldron Elder
Li Zhendao, as the Sect Master, generally only displayed sincerity and equality when dealing with the ten elders.
But using such a tone with a young Second-Cauldron elder? That was unprecedented.
Shen Mo smiled faintly.
This outcome was something he had anticipated.
However, Li Zhendao was even more enthusiastic than Shen Mo had expected.
"Sect Master, of course, this can be discussed. I certainly can't consume so much Scarlet Blood Spirit Grain on my own," Shen Mo said with a polite bow.
Li Zhendao beamed with delight. "Good, good! The Jade Cauldron Sect is truly blessed to have you!"
"Elder Ye, Hall Master He, please step outside for now. I need to discuss the pricing of the Scarlet Blood Spirit Grain with Elder Shen."
Ye Yan left the discussion hall with a grim expression.
He Tianchou, indifferent as always, also departed.
Though he had long known that Shen Mo possessed a significant amount of Scarlet Blood Spirit Grain, he had never imagined it would be as much as 1,000 jin.
Outside the Hall
Wang Wu approached Ye Yan as soon as he stepped out. "Elder Ye, how did it go?"
Ye Yan, in a foul mood, ignored him entirely and flew off from the main peak.
He Tianchou chuckled. "Wang Wu, you're still as tactless as ever. Couldn't you see how upset Ye Yan looked?"
With that, he also flew off, heading to the Third Peak.
Wang Wu scratched his head.
"Upset? Doesn't Ye Yan always have that cold and unpleasant expression?"
Not long after, a powerful voice echoed from the discussion hall, spreading across the entire mountain range.
It was the voice of Sect Master Li Zhendao.
"This time, during the opening of Bloodvine Valley, Tenth Peak Elder Shen Mo voluntarily submitted 300 jin of Scarlet Blood Spirit Grain to the sect—a remarkable contribution!"
"After deliberation in the discussion hall, it has been decided that Tenth Peak Elder Shen Mo will be promoted to Third-Cauldron Elder effective immediately!"
The Soul Formation cultivator's voice resonated for miles.
From the main peak to the Tenth Peak and across the entire Hengtai Mountain Range, everyone heard it clearly.
Elders, stewards, disciples—regardless of rank—were all shaken upon hearing the announcement.
Three hundred jin of Scarlet Blood Spirit Grain?
What kind of concept was that?
It was equivalent to the total amount submitted by over thirty elders combined.
How did Shen Mo manage to harvest so much Scarlet Blood Spirit Grain?
Even many Third- and Fourth-Cauldron elders began investigating what had happened in Bloodvine Valley and who Shen Mo truly was.
Their inquiries left them even more astounded.
Shen Mo had only joined the Jade Cauldron Sect a few years ago.
In such a short time, he had risen from a First-Cauldron Elder to a Third-Cauldron Elder.
For context, Ye Yan's rise was already considered astonishingly fast.
Yet, even Ye Yan had taken three full years to move from First-Cauldron to Second-Cauldron and had yet to advance to Third-Cauldron.
Shen Mo's rapid ascension far surpassed Ye Yan's.
On the Tenth Peak
Shen Mo sat on a stone bench.
Wan Muchun, Zhao Yaolv, and Lu Dongxuan stared at him with burning curiosity.
Their stares made Shen Mo feel slightly awkward.
"Why are you three looking at me like that?" Shen Mo asked with a helpless smile.
Lu Dongxuan said excitedly, "Our Tenth Peak has really earned some glory this time!"
Zhao Yaolv rubbed her hands with glee. "I heard you still have some Essence Bloodroots?"
Wan Muchun's gaze was sharp. "Did you kill those two massive Bloodroot Dragons?"
Shen Mo coughed lightly. "I do have some Essence Bloodroots left. I was planning to trade them for things I need."
"As for those two massive Bloodroot Dragons, I have no idea how they died."
Wan Muchun snorted. "Don't play coy. I know you have an Eternal Flame—I've known for a while."
"Bloodroot Dragons are severely restrained by Eternal Flames."
"Of all the cultivators who entered Bloodvine Valley, only you and Ye Yan could have killed the Bloodroot Dragons. But Ye Yan doesn't possess an Eternal Flame."
"So, the answer was obvious from the start."
Shen Mo chuckled. "Since you've already figured it out, why bother asking?"
Wan Muchun laughed heartily. "I just wanted to satisfy this old man's curiosity."
"Junior Brother! Come, come, come—let's play a game of dice!" Zhao Yaolv tugged at Shen Mo's arm, her face filled with excitement.
Shen Mo couldn't help but laugh.
"Alright, my wager is one Essence Bloodroot. What's your wager, Senior Sister?"
Without hesitation, Zhao Yaolv produced three bottles of Great Infant Transformation Pills. "Here, these!"
Shen Mo finally nodded.
Playing dice wasn't out of the question, but the stakes had to be fair.
The two items—Essence Bloodroot and Great Infant Transformation Pills—were indeed of comparable value.
Shen Mo glanced at Zhao Yaolu, and a thought suddenly struck him.
Zhao Yaolu, being the daughter of the Ghost King, was born under a cursed fate, plagued by misfortune.
Logically, playing dice games like this should make her lose nine times out of ten.
Why, then, did she always seem to win?
There had to be something unusual about it.
Shen Mo scanned Zhao Yaolu's life profile and couldn't help but smile.
So that's it.
"What are you smiling at? You look like a villain," Zhao Yaolu asked, puzzled.
Shen Mo smiled lightly. "Nothing. Go ahead, Senior Sister, roll the dice."
Lu Dongxuan quickly grabbed Shen Mo's arm and whispered, "Don't do it! Senior Sister is incredibly skilled at this. You'll regret it!"
"I speak from experience. Five years ago, I ended up losing even my undergarments to her. Since then, I've sworn never to gamble with her again."
Shen Mo chuckled, about to reply, when Zhao Yaolu jumped up, grabbed Lu Dongxuan's ear, and twisted it viciously.
"Shut up! Don't ruin my bonding time with Junior Brother!" she snapped.
Lu Dongxuan, face full of grievance, retreated obediently to the side.
Zhao Yaolu pulled out a bamboo container, trapping three dice inside. She shook it energetically, the dice rattling against one another.
After a while, she slammed the container onto the stone table.
"Big or small?" Zhao Yaolu grinned mischievously.
Shen Mo didn't answer immediately. Instead, he asked, "What do you think it is, Senior Sister?"
Without hesitation, Zhao Yaolu said, "I think it's small."
Shen Mo nodded. "Alright, I'll bet on big."
Zhao Yaolu froze.
She turned to Wan Muchun, her face filled with anger. "Old man, did you tell him?"
Wan Muchun looked bewildered. "Tell him what?"
Zhao Yaolu gritted her teeth. "My secret to always winning at dice!"
Wan Muchun glanced at Shen Mo, who winked.
Wan Muchun laughed helplessly. "I can assure you, I didn't tell Shen Mo anything."
Lu Dongxuan, confused, asked, "What secret to always winning?"
Zhao Yaolu's frustration turned into a mix of shame and defeat. She tossed the three bottles of Great Infant Transformation Pills to Shen Mo. "Fine, I give up. I'm not playing with you anymore. I'll find some other suckers to play with."
With that, she stormed off, not even bothering to open the bamboo container.
Lu Dongxuan scratched his head and opened the bamboo container.
The result was six, four, and six—big.
"What the…" Lu Dongxuan muttered, utterly baffled.
It felt like he was on the verge of understanding something, yet it slipped through his grasp.
Wan Muchun coughed lightly. "Shen Mo, I didn't expect you to be this clever. You figured it out so quickly."
Shen Mo smiled faintly. "It was just a guess."
Zhao Yaolu was born under a cursed fate of constant misfortune.
Since Zhao Yaolu instinctively thought it was small, Shen Mo bet on big. Guaranteed win.
Her usual success came from the same trick: she'd instinctively decide whether it was big or small and then bet the opposite.
Shen Mo had seen all of this clearly from Zhao Yaolu's life profile.
Wan Muchun patted Shen Mo's shoulder. "Alright, I'm off. This morning, I've got a date with two ladies for drinks, a stroll with another in the afternoon, and a song to enjoy tonight. Busy day, can't delay."
With that, he shot into the sky like an arrow and disappeared.
Lu Dongxuan stood there, more confused than ever. "What knowing? What guessing? What's going on?"
Shen Mo patted Lu Dongxuan on the shoulder, speaking earnestly. "Senior Brother Lu, don't ask questions you shouldn't. I'm heading back to Dragon Snake Mountain. Let's catch up sometime."
With those words, he flew off, disappearing in an instant.
Lu Dongxuan stood there with his mouth agape, a metaphorical black question mark rising above his head.
