Secret Magical Lovers: Yandere Isekai Novel

Chapter 17: Episode 3 : Puella Manipulanda (Part6)

The Next Day – Summer Fall High

Rin sat alone in the farthest corner of the library, tucked away from the noise and presence of other students. The dim lighting and the towering shelves surrounding her created a quiet sanctuary—a place where she could breathe, even if only for a little while.

Books had always been her escape. Within their pages, she could lose herself in worlds far from her own, where pain and fear didn't exist. It was one of the few comforts left to her… aside from her sister. Everything else had been taken. Everything else had been ruined—by her.

Yayoi.

The name alone sent a ripple of unease through her.

Her fingers ran lightly over the worn edges of the book in front of her, but her mind wasn't on the words. She and her sister wanted Yayoi to pay for what she had done. They needed her to pay. But justice wasn't as simple as wishing for it.

Ezakiel had told her as much.

"It won't be easy," he had said, his voice steady but filled with certainty. "Not yet."

He had promised to find a way. Until then, all he could do was put pressure on Yayoi's father, forcing him to keep her away from Rin. It wasn't justice, not really, but for now… it would have to be enough.

Still, the thought gnawed at her.

Would it ever truly be enough?

She just wanted Yayoi gone. Out of her life. Away from her sister.

Forever.

"Excuse me, do you mind if I sit here?" a voice asked.

Rin looked up from her book, her eyes landing on the figure before her. His pale skin, delicate features, and soft drill curls framed his face, giving him an almost doll-like appearance. If she hadn't known better, she might have mistaken him for a girl at first glance.

She recognized him instantly—Kiharu Kimito.

He was an easy target—an outcast, a walking enigma that neither fit in with the boys nor blended with the girls. The male students mocked him, insulted him, shoved him into lockers, and whispered behind his back. But it was the girls who were crueler, their jealousy sharper than any punch. Their words cut deep, their insults crafted to wound in ways fists never could.

And through it all, Kiharu never fought back.

He just endured it.

Rin understood that kind of suffering all too well.

She wished she could do something, say something that would make it better, but she couldn't even help herself.

She was a coward.

Even her own pain had only been lessened because someone else had stepped in to protect her.

She forced a small, polite smile. "No, it's fine. Have a seat."

Kiharu hesitated before lowering himself into the chair across from her.

"Though… are you sure you want to sit here?" Rin asked, her voice quieter. "You must know I'm kind of a social outcast."

Kiharu tilted his head. "Really? Why?"

Rin's grip on her book tightened slightly. She could already feel the familiar unease creeping in.

"It's… something I'd rather not talk about," She didn't want to relive it—the memories, the pain, the awful images that would come flooding back if she let herself think about it.

Kiharu seemed to pick up on her discomfort. "Sorry," he murmured.

"It's okay," she replied automatically, though it wasn't entirely true.

Silence lingered between them for a moment before Kiharu spoke again. "I am sort of a social outcast myself."

Rin let out a small breath. "That, I know… and I know why." She hesitated before adding, "I wish things were different."

"No need to worry," Kiharu said, offering a small but sincere smile. "I'm actually trying to stand up for myself."

Rin blinked, surprised. "Wow..."

Even he was finding the strength to fight back.

She envied that.

He was brave. Unlike her.

"It's because of a friend… or at least, I consider him one," Kiharu continued.

Rin tilted her head slightly. "A friend?"

"Yes, his name is Ezakiel."

The name hit Rin like a sudden gust of wind, pulling her back into memories she wasn't expecting.

"Ezakiel?" she repeated, brows slightly furrowing. "You mean the guy with white hair and crimson eyes? The one who got expelled for breaking three students' jaws?"

"Yes, that's him," Kiharu confirmed, urgency creeping into his tone. "And for the record, those three were my bullies—the ones he beat up."

Rin already knew that part; it was just for confirmation—to see if they were talking about the same guy.

"I see… So, you know him too."

Kiharu leaned forward slightly, his expression hopeful. "You too? You know him too?"

"I do," Rin admitted. There was no reason to deny it.

Kiharu's expression shifted, his voice dropping lower. "I see..."

Silence stretched between them again, heavier this time.

Rin cleared her throat, changing the subject. "Anyway, what book are you reading?"

Kiharu's face brightened instantly. He held up the book, grinning as if he'd just been waiting for someone to ask.

Rin's eyes landed on the cover. Two guys in an intimate, suggestive pose.

A BL novel.

She didn't react, but something inside her hesitated.

"Forbidden Love… Didn't know the school had books like this in its library," she said, her tone carefully neutral.

Books like these didn't really belong in a school library. Yet here it was.

Then—her phone vibrated in her pocket.

Rin pulled it out, glancing at the name on the screen.

Ezakiel.

She exhaled softly. "Oh, sorry, I have to go. Ezakiel is calling me."

She stood, closing her book with one hand while answering the call with the other.

Without another word, she walked away, leaving Kiharu alone.

....

Why...

Why...

Why...

Why?!

Kiharu mentally screamed, his hands tightening into fists under the table as he watched Rin walk away, her expression light and carefree as she spoke to Ezakiel.

Why does she get to be close to him… but I don't?

A sharp pain bloomed in his chest, his breath growing heavy. It felt like something inside him was twisting, pulling, clawing at his insides. A bitter heat crawled up his throat, a feeling he couldn't suppress no matter how hard he tried.

Jealousy.

Unfair…

Unfair…

Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Unfair!!!!

His vision blurred slightly, his fingers digging into the fabric of his uniform. He wanted to scream, to demand why fate had been so cruel, why the one person he longed for was just out of reach.

Why… why is it always like this? Why is it that I can never have anything for myself, not even once in my whole life?

Kiharu clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms. He cursed destiny—cursed whatever cruel force had shaped him into this pathetic existence. A body that was neither fully male nor female, a freak in the eyes of others. An abomination.

His entire life had been nothing but suffering. And now… now, even this.

Why don't I just end it?

Wouldn't that be easier? Wouldn't that be better than living this cursed life, drowning in loneliness and pain?

It wasn't the first time such thoughts had crossed his mind. Every time he was beaten, mocked, or humiliated, the idea would creep in like a whisper in the dark. But he had always been too afraid to act on it.

But today… today felt different.

His trembling fingers reached into his pocket, wrapping around the cool metal of the small paper cutter he always carried. His grip tightened. He could end it here. A quick, deep cut across his throat, and it would all be over. No more pain. No more loneliness. No more being unwanted.

But just as he pressed the blade against his skin—he stopped.

No…

If he did this… if he gave in now… Ezakiel would be disappointed in him.

That thought alone sent a jolt through his body, shaking him to his core.

He couldn't let that happen.

He wouldn't let that happen.

How could he ever look into the eyes of the one person who had given him hope if he threw that hope away so easily?

No. Instead of this… he'd find another way.

I'll get his number from her.

Kiharu's heart pounded with excitement at the thought. Just imagining hearing Ezakiel's voice sent a shiver down his spine. His voice—deep, strong, commanding—was like nectar to him. Just thinking about it made something in him stir, something warm, something almost… intoxicating.

Yes. This was what he wanted. What he needed.

Ezakiel was his.

And he would make sure of it.

But then came the question that made his fingers tighten around the book in his hands.

But how?

...

"Tell your sister what I said, okay?" Ezakiel said, lying down on his bed.

"I will," Rin replied before ending the call.

Ezakiel let out a deep breath, resting his arm over his forehead. "Well, everything is going fine… let's just hope nothing ruins this."

He had put in a lot of effort—carefully planning every step, making sure everything moved in the right direction. But now, the weight of it all was starting to drag him down. His mind was exhausted, worn from all the calculations, the risks, the pressure. And as if that wasn't enough, there was still another issue he needed to handle.

The magical girls… they must be aware of my existence by now.

That one moment—when he had used his powers to kill the driver's family—had been a critical mistake. It was brief, barely noticeable, but a blunder nonetheless. He had allowed his presence to be detected.

And worst of all, he had forgotten about Yuki's ability to use highly advanced detection spells.

He exhaled slowly, feeling the tension build in his chest. He couldn't afford to make more mistakes like that.

Not to mention, they already knew what kind of abilities he had. That meant he had to be extremely careful from now on. No unnecessary movements. No reckless use of his powers. As long as he stayed in his human form, as long as he didn't use his abilities, they would never be able to truly find him.

But that also meant he had to move faster.

He had only five days left.

Five days before the main plot of the anime began.
