The stone door groaned as it fully opened, revealing a long, spiraling staircase descending into darkness. A faint, eerie wind drifted up from below, carrying the distant sound of monsters growling.
Yami exhaled. "Classic dungeon rules. Beat the boss, open the next floor. Got it."
He gave his scythes a spin before dismissing them into black mist. His new Dual Reaper ability was powerful, but after that last fight, he could feel the strain on his body. He needed to manage his energy.
He placed a hand on his chest, where the Boss Soul had absorbed into him. The surge of strength was still fresh—his reflexes felt sharper, his movements quicker. But something else lingered…
A new power waiting to be unlocked.
Guess I'll figure that out later.
With that, he stepped forward, descending the staircase. The deeper he went, the colder the air became.
Then, suddenly—
"System Update."
Yami froze as the god's voice echoed in his mind.
"Congratulations. Your strength has reached the next threshold."
"Reaper's Will has awakened a new ability."
A black screen appeared in front of him, filled with glowing text.

• Effect: Allows the user to phase through attacks for a brief moment.

• Warning: Cannot be used against divine or holy attacks.
Yami's eyes widened. "Wait. So I can literally phase through things now?"
A grin spread across his face. Now this is broken.
He flexed his fingers, feeling the new ability settle into his instincts.
Just in time, too—because the moment he reached the bottom of the staircase, something lunged at him from the darkness.
SNAP!
A massive centipede-like creature burst from the shadows, its mandibles clamping down where Yami had been standing. But instead of being caught—
Yami vanished.
A second later, he reappeared behind the monster, completely unharmed.
"Oh yeah," Yami smirked, summoning his scythes. "This is gonna be fun."
