It wasn't until Nagato attacked Konohagakure, and Kakashi died and met his father, Hatake Sakumo, that things changed. The two sat by the fire, saying nothing to each other.

It was only after his revival that Kakashi finally opened his heart.

After getting dressed and washing up, Yan headed to the Hokage's office building. 

When he walked into the office, he found that the people sent from Kumogakure Village were quite interesting.

"It's been a while."

With a slight smile at the two, Yan gestured for them to sit and talk instead of standing around waiting.

"It's been a while."

Samui nodded slightly, while Mabui's lips twitched as her left hand unconsciously moved toward her back. 

It was clear that the kick Yan had given her from behind earlier had left a lasting impression.

"Congratulations to both of you on passing the Jonin exams."

Yan glanced at the Jonin vests they were wearing.

"If you really want to congratulate us, then show some sincerity. Your village backing out halfway through the exams caused quite a hit to our village's reputation."

You dare bring that up?

Samui's gaze turned cold as she looked at Yan.

Konohagakure had led the charge in leaving the Kumogakure Village exam, and the other villages followed suit, making Kumogakure Village the butt of a huge joke.

While not many people dared to mock them openly, they couldn't escape being laughed at in secret.

And all of this was because of Yan, who had led the walkout.

"Your village acted unfairly in the first place, leaving Konohagakure out of things. You should've expected these consequences. What, you think only you get to call the shots, and Konohagakure can't do the same? That's not how double standards work."

Yan shrugged indifferently, saying, 

"Do whatever you want. It's not Konohagakure losing face here. Besides, it was Kumogakure Village that started this whole thing. If you want to stir up trouble, why should Konohagakure go along with it? We're one of the five great ninja villages too. No one is better than anyone else, so don't think you can take us for fools."

Seeing her companion grit her teeth, ready to argue or even curse, Mabui quickly pulled her back and shook her head. 

They didn't come to Konohagakure to cause trouble today—they were here to deliver an invitation.

If they offended people before even presenting the invitation and the talks fell through, they would be held responsible.

Samui and Mabui were both future Jonin representatives of Kumogakure Village, known for their calm and composed attitudes, which made them stand out from the other ninjas of their village.

This earned them the attention and favor of the Raikage, especially Mabui, who became his secretary.

Anyone who could hold such a position wasn't simple. 

After all, she had access to many secrets.

Unfortunately, that would only come years later. Right now, Samui and Mabui hadn't yet developed the composure to face everything with a straight face.

Even now, in their short conversation with Yan, they were already on the verge of losing their temper.

"Am I in charge now?"

"My apologies." 

Mabui gave a slight bow, then took out the invitation and placed it on the table.

"Samui and I were sent by Raikage-sama, on behalf of the village, to deliver this invitation. We hope your village can give us a timely response."

Their job was to deliver the invitation and wait for a reply so they could report back.

It was clear that A was getting a bit impatient, eager to gather the power of the five great ninja villages and hit the Akatsuki hard.

That's why they not only delivered the invitation but also waited for a response on the spot.

"Is it that urgent?" 

Yan picked up the invitation and glanced at it. 

As he expected, Raikage's short temper couldn't hold out any longer. After repeatedly taking hidden losses in Amegakure Village, he was now determined to strike hard against the Akatsuki. 

Kumogakure Village attacking the Akatsuki on their own could come with a heavy price, so Ai wanted to rally other villages and form an alliance among the Five Great Shinobi Villages to target the Akatsuki. 

The reasons and excuses were already there—just get it done. 

After reading the invitation, Yan deliberately showed a difficult and hesitant expression. 

This immediately made Mabui and Samui anxious, fearing they would hear the words "Konohagakure refuses" come out of Yan's mouth.
