Saving the ruined Knights’ Order

Chapter 01

Saving the Ruined Knights’ Order – Chapter 1

Ruined Knights is exactly what the title says—a game where you save a ruined knight order.

There are no knights left. Only the name remains. You play as the leader and bring the order back to life.

Find good low-ranking knights and train them. As the group grows, invite skilled freelance knights to make it stronger. That’s how the game works.

As the order grows, the king gives missions. In the final chapter, the demon king attacks. Stop the invasion, and the game is cleared.

One day, this game was suddenly released by an unknown developer. A dedicated player wrote a detailed review, and word spread.

Later, a popular streamer played it. It became a short-lived trend, appearing in gaming communities now and then before fading away.

It never became a big hit, but for some players, it became their favorite game of all time.

And I’m one of those players. The one who wrote that dedicated review that revived the game.

I’m just an ordinary player who made this old, forgotten game my life’s game.

I stare at my monitor with a blank expression and scroll the mouse.

“There’s no knight commander left to choose.”

A long list of knight commander candidates fills the screen.

But every single one has a big “Clear!” stamped on their portrait like a seal.

That means I’ve already cleared the game at least once with all of them.

“Should I go with Sir Killian for a simple run? Or the picky Nersy for a challenge?”

Click. Click.

I scroll through the character selection screen again, but none of them really interest me anymore.

There are over 50 knight commanders to choose from.

Each one has their own story and unique traits. But I’ve already cleared the game at least 20 timeswith each of them.

At this point, I just don’t feel excited about the game anymore.

Of course, that’s not the developer’s fault.

“Playtime: 10,000 hours.”

I’ve played for well over 10,000 hours.

Even though the developers kept adding new characters in updates, I’ve already played through all of them.

“It was enough time.”

So the problem is not with the game company, but with me.

Since I put my whole life into this game except for sleep and food, what more could I ask for?

“I still had fun playing.”

But even for me, now there is no time.

It seems like it is time for me to graduate from Saving the Ruined Knights Order.

Because I need to save my ruined life first.

“It was fun.”

Hoo-ah.

A bitter sigh pretending to be relief.

I flipped over the phone on the desk. A message from my father popped up.

[Now you need to take over the family business. I gave you enough time.]

[The house you are living in is gone too. If you don’t come to the company tomorrow, I will stop all support, so know that.]

I don’t misunderstand my father’s reaction.

My daily life, except for sleep, was food, poop, and Saving the Ruined Knights Order. Of course, today too, after solving food and poop, I logged into the game.

“Ah, reallyyyy.”

But understanding my father and accepting the reality in front of me are two different things.

The space inside this monitor was my whole life, but now I have to take a step into the harsh society…

Dding!

“Huh?”

At that moment, a sudden pop-up appeared on the game screen. I stared at it in disbelief.

[Condition met! New knights’ leader, Isaac Wood, has been unlocked.]

“A new knights’ leader is unlocked? Really?”

The body I had started to lift awkwardly sat back in the chair. At the very bottom of the selection screen, a portrait I had never seen before appeared.

“Isaac Wood? That’s a name I’ve never seen before.”

The last patch for this game was two years ago.

But in the past two years, I have never seen this name even once on information-sharing sites or forums.

Does that mean I am the first person to unlock this character?

At that moment, I realized something. My heart was beating like crazy.

“Father, I’m sorry,” I whispered softly.

“This is an opportunity I can’t give up.”

It had to be. After all, I was getting to play a new character after two whole years.

“I just have to go to the company tomorrow, right?”

Tap. Tap tap.

I moved the keyboard in front of me and held the mouse gently.

“I just have to make it until work time, right, Father?”

[Do you want to proceed with Isaac Wood? ]

“Of course, yes!”

Click.

What makes Saving the Ruined Knights Order so fun is that each character offers a completely different way to play.

The chemistry between the characters and the unique synergy system changes based on the leader I choose, creating new events every time.

As soon as I selected Isaac Wood, the game intro appeared.

[Isaac Wood. From now on, you are the leader of the Palantier Knights Order.]

[The Palantier Knights Order needs members. Rebuild the order and prepare for the future invasion of demons.]

Click. Click.

I quickly skipped the unnecessary intro and went straight to the character background.

What kind of story does this character have? I hoped for a background that allowed interactions with many characters.

It would be best if he came from a well-known knight family but wasn’t hostile to commoners, had no dark past, and was a clean, balanced character…

[Isaac Wood is one of the most skilled knights in the upper ranks. He can use any weapon well, but his main weapon is the longsword. His swordsmanship is precise, ruthless, and terrifying. Those who have faced his blade call him the Ghost Knight. His sword is mysterious and eerie.]

Isaac Wood’s background story appeared on the screen. I widened my eyes and read the character settings.

I had to read carefully. If I didn’t, it could cause problems in the game. In Saving the Fallen Knights, using a character’s strengths and weaknesses to the fullest was the key to winning.

[Isaac Wood became the leader of the Palantir Knights after being recognized for taking down the worst criminal in knight society.]

Oh. So he had top-level sword skills and even defeated a terrible criminal?

This seems like a great start—

[But that worst criminal was Isaac Wood’s father. Isaac’s father was the one behind the knight serial murders.]

…Wait, what?

“What the heck is this?”

It was such a ridiculous backstory that I couldn’t even laugh.

So his dad was a murderer who killed knights, and Isaac had to kill his own father?

What kind of setting is this?

But that wasn’t all.

[Isaac had no choice but to kill his father to stop the crimes. But because of this, he was branded as a “patricide” and the Wood family was labeled as a family of murderers.]

“What the…”

[But Isaac did not run away. He is a man who follows what he believes is right. He knew that in order to atone for his father’s sins, he had to remain in knight society.]

[Isaac Wood.]

[Protect this world from the coming invasion of demons.]

[To do so, you must rebuild the Palantir Knights.]

[Isaac Wood, we wish you luck in your future.]

“You’ve got to be kidding me. You give him this messed-up backstory and then wish him good luck? What the—wait, huh?”

Suddenly, a bright light burst from the monitor, filling my room.

“W-what?! I can’t see anything!”

And just like that…

I lost consciousness.
