Chapter 115: Heaven's Transfer Technique
Watching Sasuke's retreating figure, Sakura scratched her head.
"Did he take that hard?"
Sakura understood and respected his reaction. After all, someone burdened with a deep-seated vendetta needed an unwavering drive for self-improvement.
Sasuke returned alone to his tent, where the first thing he saw was Kakashi lying idly on his bed, flipping through his Make-Out Paradise novel.
Due to the war, tents were typically shared by four people. However, considering Kakashi and Sasuke's teacher-student relationship, and Kakashi's high status, the two were specifically assigned to a tent together.
"What is it?"
"Did you lose badly?"
Without looking up from his book, Kakashi casually posed the question.
Sasuke, however, ignored it, instead focusing intently as he asked,
"How strong is Sakura now?"
Hearing this, Kakashi's exposed eye glanced at the solemn young man before him.
"Sakura is different from the others."
Still flipping through the pages, Kakashi explained,
"I didn't want to discourage you, but since you're asking, I'll tell you the truth."
Closing his novel, Kakashi sat up, his expression serious as he addressed Sasuke.
"Do you know where Sakura went during the four years after graduation?"
Sasuke remained silent.
"The Anbu."
"She became a squad captain within just four years."
"She was only twelve at the time."
"If the Hokage hadn't intentionally held back her rapid promotions, she would be a jonin by now, not merely a special jonin."
Sasuke listened quietly, his expression unreadable, which made Kakashi uncertain about his true feelings.
"Even that man..."
Kakashi narrowed his eyes slightly, his tone probing as if testing Sasuke's emotional defenses.
"I mean your brother, Uchiha..."
"He's not my brother."
Sasuke's voice interrupted, cold and calm despite its abruptness.
"Even Uchiha Itachi didn't become an Anbu captain until he was thirteen."
Kakashi's words made Sasuke lift his head, his Sharingan eyes fixed on the white-haired man.
A hint of mocking malice curled Sasuke's lips as he spoke, his tone sharp and fierce.
"So even he can be surpassed."
Kakashi studied the young man, surprised by his reaction. He had expected Sasuke to become more frenzied given his Uchiha temperament. Yet here Sasuke was, calmly suppressing his hatred.
"Well, that's how it is."
"Even I pale in comparison to Sakura."
Kakashi's eyes crinkled into crescent shapes as he smiled.
"That's only natural. If I could surpass her, she wouldn't be Sakura."
Sasuke's lips curled into a grin. Looking at Kakashi, he declared,
"I need to become stronger."
"Kakashi, teach me."
Seeing Sasuke's renewed determination, ignited by Sakura's talent rather than crushed by it, Kakashi felt a sense of relief.
"Of course. After all, you're my student."
Kakashi pulled out a scroll from his pouch and handed it to Sasuke.
"This contains my insights on Lightning Release techniques."
"Don't think I'm just a guy who uses the Chidori and copies other people's jutsu."
Pointing to his head, Kakashi grinned,
"Remember, I became a jonin at twelve too. As for Chidori, I created that S-rank technique when I was twelve."
"Twelve years have passed. If I hadn't progressed since then, that would be embarrassing."
Though his tone was light, every word exuded confidence.
"You…"
Sasuke paused, remembering how Kakashi had struggled against Zabuza during the Wave Country mission.
As if reading Sasuke's mind, Kakashi waved it off nonchalantly,
"Sakura was there back then, wasn't she?"
"Ha! Did you think I'd admit to slipping up?"
Sasuke chuckled and opened the Lightning Release scroll, revealing numerous techniques.
Lightning Release: Thunder Tiger Blitz.
Lightning Release: Lightning Transmission.
Lightning Release: Lightning Clone...
The remaining sections were filled with Kakashi's research and reflections on Lightning Release techniques.
"I'm more excited to see you develop your own jutsu than just inheriting mine."
Kakashi looked at Sasuke, as if seeing a reflection of his younger self creating the Chidori.
Compared to the eerie stillness of the Frost Country battlefield, the Land of Rivers was ablaze with relentless combat.
On the very first day of Danzo Shimura's arrival, his forces clashed fiercely with the invading Sand Village shinobi.
Whatever could be said about Danzo's character, his command over troop movements and battlefield strategy was a testament to his status as the Second Hokage's disciple.
His tactics resembled the gnarled roots of an ancient tree—layer upon layer, entangling and suppressing the Sand forces, pinning them within the Land of Rivers.
In the central tent of the Sand Village encampment, an elderly woman with snow-white hair sat calmly at the head of the assembly. Flanking her were the commanders responsible for leading the battle.
"Elder Chiyo, what should we do next?"
One subordinate asked cautiously.
At the mention of her name, Chiyo's eyelids lifted slightly as she spoke in a measured tone,
"Any news from the Hidden Cloud?"
The question caused immediate agitation among the gathered shinobi.
"Elder Chiyo, we can't pin all our hopes on the Hidden Cloud!"
"The Cloud Village has always been ambitious. Now that we've just offended the Leaf, they've swooped in to exploit us—they clearly had ulterior motives from the start!"
"Hmm?"
Chiyo's voice sharpened, silencing the speaker instantly.
Seeing his discontent, Chiyo's tone softened.
"I am well aware of the Cloud's ambitions. But like their ambition, their manpower is second only to the Leaf."
"If they aren't panicking, why should we?"
"Relay my orders—rest and regroup over the next two days, and tighten patrols."
"Wait for word from the Hidden Cloud."
As Chiyo finished speaking, a flash of white light tore through the sky, landing squarely in the central command tent of the Sand encampment.
The Heaven's Transfer Technique from the Hidden Cloud!
Chiyo smirked at the iron box that had materialized before her.
"See? The Cloud couldn't sit still after all."
