The Mantis monster had given 6 Strength and 9 Speed Enhancement Agents. He wondered what the Hawk-Beak monster would give.

Kaito Ren looked at the stunned Hawk-Beak.

"Damn you! You… you killed Mantis?!"

Hawk-Beak's eyes widened. This was supposed to be an easy mission, but Kaito Ren was incredibly strong! He'd killed Mantis with one blow. His instincts told him this human was dangerous. Fighting him would be risky. But…

He had no choice. Returning empty-handed would incur Dr. Genus's wrath.

Hawk-Beak gritted his teeth and took a small purple vial from his pocket, swallowing it.

Kaito Ren activated the Detective's Eye to check Hawk-Beak's status. Rage state?! He thought of Carnage Kabuto. Three years later, Carnage Kabuto had entered a rage state, turning purplish-red. He'd thought it was Carnage Kabuto's unique ability. Apparently, Carnage Kabuto had secretly used the rage potion. The potion three years later was much stronger than this one, which was likely still in the experimental stage, hence the three-minute limit.

Three minutes?! Kaito Ren was troubled. It wasn't much time. He could use the terrain to survive, then attack when Hawk-Beak was weakened. But he wanted to see if defeating a raging monster yielded extra rewards.

He decided to take the risk. If he couldn't win, he'd stall.

"Aaugh!"

Hawk-Beak, almost completely irrational, screamed. An invisible sonic wave spread outwards, shattering shop windows. The crowd covered their ears and fell to the ground.

Kaito Ren frowned, finding cotton to stuff in his ears. The sound was still piercing but much weaker.

Seizing the opportunity, Kaito Ren hid behind buildings, getting within five meters of Hawk-Beak and attacking, aiming for the vulnerable joint between its wings and body. The hollow bones were easy to break.

But Kaito Ren underestimated Hawk-Beak's rage-enhanced abilities. Hawk-Beak retracted its wings, protecting the vulnerable area. Kaito Ren's punch hit the feathers, leaving no mark.

Hawk-Beak countered with its sharp claws.

Kaito Ren dodged nimbly, each claw missing its target. The hard ground crumbled under Hawk-Beak's attacks.

Could he only stall? He desperately searched for a solution.

He saw a narrow alley. Dodging an attack, he darted into the alley.

Seeing its prey escape again, Hawk-Beak raged, chasing after him. Its large body got stuck in the narrow alley. Lost in rage, it only wanted to bring the human, alive or dead, back to Dr. Genus.

Crack…

The walls cracked under Hawk-Beak's struggle. Rocks fell from the ceiling.

His chance!

Hearing Hawk-Beak's struggles weakening, Kaito Ren knew the time was right. Hawk-Beak was trapped. It roared in fury, but Kaito Ren couldn't hear it.

It was time to claim victory!

Kaito Ren smiled, walking towards Hawk-Beak.
