Ch 01 - I Told You Not to Cross the Line

Chapter 1. “I Told You Not to Cross the Line”

The hotel room door opened with a soft *beep*.

As it swung open, Eugene, the documentary PD, hesitated for a moment, overwhelmed by the luxurious scent wafting from the suite.

She knew breaking into someone’s hotel room wasn’t right, but she had no other choice.

Taking a deep breath, she stepped inside.

The suite was massive, easily three times the size of a standard room.

The living area was impeccably arranged, with a sofa and a console table, making it look like the living room of a high-end home.

There was no sign of anyone staying there—no clutter, no mess.

It was spotless.

“I heard he’s been staying here for days…” Eugene muttered, scanning the room.

Shouldn’t there at least be some clothes tossed on the sofa? But everything was perfectly in place.

The plush carpet on the floor was free of even a speck of dust.

The desk was neatly organized, with papers and a laptop aligned at perfect angles.

The closet doors were closed, and when Eugene peeked inside, she found shirts and pants hung with military precision.

Even the bathroom mirror sparkled unnaturally, adding to her growing tension.

“What’s going on? This is way too clean for someone who runs a bomb disposal company,”

Eugene whispered, frowning.

This wasn’t the messy, rugged image she had imagined.

The room reflected its occupant’s meticulous personality.

She cautiously walked toward the sofa, her eyes darting around.

The coffee table was spotless.

Shouldn’t someone who deals with explosives have at least a little dust or dirt somewhere? The silence and cleanliness made her even more nervous.

Just then, the door opened.

Kang Jaehyun, the CEO of Safe Core, stepped inside.

Eugene had planned to wait for him on the sofa, but on reflection, she hid behind the curtains.

It was a tight space, barely enough to conceal her, and she immediately regretted her impulsive decision.

*Why am I even doing this?* she thought, her heart pounding loudly in her ears.

This was a stupid move.

Jaehyun closed the door and paused, his sharp senses immediately picking up on the unfamiliar presence in the room.

Years of training had honed his instincts.

He scanned the room, his gaze cold and alert.

“Come out,” he said, his voice firm and threatening.

The atmosphere in the room turned icy.

Eugene hesitated, then reluctantly stepped out from behind the curtains.

Before she could even speak, Jaehyun grabbed her and pinned her against the wall.

“Ugh!” Eugene gasped, unable to move.

She was trapped, her back pressed against the wall, his large hand holding her in place.

Their eyes met, and she was struck by his presence all over again.

He was tall, towering over her, with a solid build and a sharp, woodsy scent mixed with a hint of mint.

But right now, she wasn’t in a position to appreciate any of that.

She managed to choke out, “CEO Kang!”

He released her slightly but didn’t step back.

Instead, he leaned against the wall, caging her in with his arms.

She was still trapped, her body pressed against the wall, his presence overwhelming.

“I told you not to cross the line,” he said, his voice cold and heavy.

He had warned her before, and now she was facing the consequences.

Eugene tried to regain her composure.

“You’ve gotten really short with your words, CEO. Fine, I’ll speak casually too. Hey, CEO.”

“Do as you like,” he replied, unfazed.

His intense gaze bore into her, making her feel even more exposed.

His eyes seemed deeper now, and for a moment, Eugene thought she saw a flicker of something—regret? Longing? But she quickly dismissed the idea.

“Han Eugene,” he murmured, his voice low.

His hand moved closer to her face, his fingers brushing against her jawline.

A shiver ran down her spine.

His solid muscles pressed against her, and she could feel the tension in his body.

She tried to fight back, using her aikido training to break free.

She grabbed his wrist, attempting to twist it and flip him, but he didn’t budge.

He stood like a rock, unmovable, watching her struggle with an amused expression.

“When you’re trying to overpower someone bigger than you, you can’t just rely on strength,” he said calmly.

“You need to use their momentum, disrupt their balance. Like this.”

In one swift motion, he twisted her wrist and flipped her onto the carpet.

Before she could react, he was on top of her, his body pinning her down.

Their faces were inches apart, and Eugene’s breath hitched.

“Breathe,” he said softly, his voice a command.

She exhaled shakily, and in that moment, his lips met hers.

The kiss was unexpected but intense.

His lips were warm, and the faint scent of mint filled her senses.

Eugene’s mind raced, but her body responded instinctively.

Her arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer as the kiss deepened.

It was impulsive, reckless, and completely unexpected.

The sound of their breathing filled the room, and Eugene’s thoughts blurred.

She had chased him for the documentary, but she never imagined it would lead to this.

As his weight pressed her further into the carpet, she realized one thing: this was far from what she had planned. But for now, she was too caught up in the moment to care.
