RWBY: Oscar the gamer

Chapter 7: Dungeon Dive

Oscar stood before the blue gate, his fingers curling around the Dungeon Key, the same key he'd received after completing his latest daily quests. The forest around him was still eerily quiet from the previous night's fire, and the charred remains of trees loomed over him like silent sentinels. He took a deep breath, steeling himself. His system had warned him about dungeon breaks, but he couldn't waste time. Grinding was necessary if he wanted to get stronger.

As the key glowed in his hand, Oscar pressed it against the burned bark of the tree. The air shimmered, and with a soft hum, a massive blue gate materialized before him. The swirling portal opened wide, revealing a dark expanse on the other side—an entrance to what looked like a forgotten dungeon.

Before he could second guess himself, Oscar quickly closed the gate behind him, leaving no room for escape if things went south. It was too risky to leave it open; a dungeon break could cause more chaos than he was ready for.

Taking a deep breath, Oscar pulled out his sword, the familiar weight comforting him. "Time to grind," he muttered to himself, the sharpness of his voice cutting through the night air. He didn't know what kind of creatures or challenges awaited him in this dungeon, but he knew he had to prepare. It was the only way to level up his abilities and strengthen his stats.

He stepped through the gate, crossing the threshold into the unknown. Immediately, a cold breeze washed over him, carrying the scent of something ancient and forgotten. His eyes scanned the surroundings, looking for any sign of danger.

The dungeon stretched out before him—a labyrinth of crumbling stone walls, dimly lit by flickering torches. The path was narrow, and the shadows seemed to move of their own accord, making it hard to tell what was real and what wasn't. Oscar gripped his sword tighter, preparing for whatever might come.

Ding!

[Dungeon Detected: Unknown Dungeon – Level 10] [Dungeon Difficulty: Moderate] [Enemies: Unknown – Likely Grimm or Wild Monsters]

Oscar's system pinged in his mind, providing him with a brief rundown of what he was about to face. "Moderate difficulty, huh? Should be manageable," he thought, trying to keep his nerves in check. The unknown always made things more exciting, but also a bit terrifying.

He continued down the winding path, the stone floor beneath his boots echoing in the silence. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched. Every sound seemed amplified in the quiet dungeon, and the flickering torches did little to calm his racing heart.

Suddenly, a low growl rumbled from the shadows. Oscar's instincts kicked in, and without hesitation, he spun around, sword raised.

From the darkness, a pair of glowing red eyes emerged, followed by a hulking figure. It was a Grimm—a large, snarling creature with jagged, blackened teeth. Its body was covered in matted fur, and its claws scraped against the stone floor as it advanced toward him.

Oscar didn't waste a moment. He lunged forward, slashing at the Grimm with his sword. The creature dodged with surprising agility, its claws swiping at Oscar's chest. He barely managed to block with his sword, the force of the attack sending a shockwave through his arm.

[Hp: 75%]

The system's notification flashed in his mind, and Oscar quickly assessed the situation. The Grimm was fast, but so was he. He activated his [Agility Skill] and dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding another swipe from the beast.

"This is gonna be fun," Oscar muttered, his grin widening. He was getting into the groove of battle, his focus sharpening with each move.

The Grimm lunged again, but this time, Oscar was ready. With a swift motion, he slashed downward, cutting deep into the creature's side. It howled in pain, but before it could retaliate, Oscar raised his sword again, this time thrusting it forward into the Grimm's chest.

The creature staggered back, growling in fury, but Oscar didn't let up. He kept the pressure on, landing strike after strike until finally, with a powerful swing, he cleaved the Grimm in half.

The creature let out one last roar before collapsing to the ground, its body disintegrating into a cloud of black smoke.

[Enemy Defeated – Grimm (Level 17)] [+500 XP] [+5 Agility]

Oscar stood over the defeated Grimm, breathing heavily but with a sense of accomplishment. The dungeon's first challenge had been a success. He couldn't afford to let his guard down, though. More monsters awaited, and each battle would push him closer to leveling up.

He took a moment to check his stats, seeing the new increase in his agility. It wasn't much, but every bit counted. As he continued forward, the dungeon seemed to shift, the walls narrowing as if leading him deeper into its heart.

Oscar felt a strange sense of excitement rise within him. This dungeon was just the beginning, and if he played his cards right, it would be the perfect place to grind for power. But he also had to stay sharp—there was no telling what might be lurking in the shadows.

With his sword at the ready, he pressed forward into the unknown.

Oscar took a moment to check his updated stats.

Level 17

XP: 1500/2000

"17, huh," he muttered to himself. "I'm leveling up fast, but I'm guessing from now on, it'll be slower." His system had hinted that the grind would get harder as he progressed, and from the looks of it, he was already feeling the strain. The creatures in the dungeon were tougher, and the challenges would only get more difficult the higher his level climbed. Still, he couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. With every battle, he was getting stronger, gaining new abilities, and uncovering more of the potential his system offered.

The dungeon around him felt even more ominous now. The air had grown heavier, and the torches flickered with an unnatural intensity. He couldn't shake the feeling that something bigger was lurking ahead, watching him. It was the perfect place to test his strength, but it also felt like a ticking clock.

He adjusted his grip on his sword, a reassuring weight in his hand. It had served him well so far, but as he ventured deeper, he would need to think more strategically.

With his new level, he could feel the difference in his abilities. His agility was sharper, his strength a little more refined. But he also had the feeling that he needed to improve his magic. He had relied on his physical skills so far, but dungeons like this one would require more than just swordplay.

"Maybe it's time to start focusing on my magic skills," Oscar mused aloud, speaking to no one in particular. "I can't just rely on brute force forever."

He glanced at the next section of the dungeon ahead—a dark hallway that seemed to stretch into infinity. Shadows danced on the walls, and the faint sound of skittering echoed down the passageway.

"I should be ready for anything," he thought, pushing forward into the darkness, his senses heightened.

Suddenly, he felt a shift in the air. The atmosphere became denser, almost oppressive, as if the dungeon itself was aware of his presence. Oscar stopped in his tracks, his eyes narrowing. Something was coming.

Ding!

[Dungeon Boss Detected!]

Oscar's heart skipped a beat. The system had announced it, loud and clear. A boss fight was imminent. His grip tightened on his sword. This was exactly what he had been training for. He wasn't about to let anything stand in his way.

Oscar started to walk to the Dungeon boss gate, he looked around as then he heard flapping, as he looked up as he jumped away as he sent a fire ball as he saw what it was.

Oscar eyes Wident as he looked at the monster. "It that a Bat Grimm, no it is way to big but looks like a Bat, what is them".

Oscar quickly regained his footing, his heart racing as he took in the monstrous sight before him. The creature that flew overhead wasn't just any Bat Grimm—it was massive, its wings spanning wide enough to cast a shadow that stretched over the entire dungeon. It looked like a bat, but its size and the dark energy radiating from it made it clear this wasn't something he had encountered before.

Its leathery wings flapped with a powerful force, causing the air around Oscar to stir violently. The creature's glowing red eyes locked onto him as it descended, and its sharp fangs gleamed in the dim light. Its body was covered in dark, scaled fur, giving it an almost armored appearance. The creature screeched, a high-pitched sound that made Oscar's teeth rattle in his skull. The dungeon itself seemed to tremble from the sheer force of its voice.

Oscar took a quick glance at his system.

Dungeon Boss: Batwing Leviathan Level: 20 HP: 100%

The system had given him the name of the creature, and Oscar felt a knot form in his stomach. The Batwing Leviathan, it seemed, was far stronger than anything he'd fought so far. He could tell from its size alone that this would be a fight unlike anything he'd experienced.

"That's no ordinary Grimm," Oscar muttered under his breath. "I can't rely just on fireballs... but what else do I have?"

As the Batwing Leviathan swooped down, Oscar rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding the creature's claws that slashed through the air where he had been standing moments before. The ground where the claws struck splintered, sending debris flying in all directions.

The creature's wings beat furiously, creating wind blasts that sent Oscar stumbling back. He braced himself, gripping his sword tightly as the Batwing Leviathan circled above him.

His mind raced. "I need a strategy—something that can match its speed and power. Maybe magic and swordplay together could work. If I can create openings with fireballs, I might have a chance to strike."

Oscar focused on his system, pulling up his spell inventory. He had a few more magic skills at his disposal—none of them as powerful as his fireball, but they could still give him the edge he needed.

As the Leviathan made another pass, Oscar prepared himself.

"Let's test this out," he muttered, his voice low and focused.

He quickly cast [Wind Slash], sending a gust of slicing wind toward the Leviathan's wings. The attack barely grazed it, but it forced the creature to pull up quickly, giving Oscar just enough time to roll to the side and avoid its next strike.

"Alright," Oscar said to himself, "Time for the next move."

He cast [Fireball] once more, but this time, as the Batwing Leviathan began its dive toward him, he used his [Agility Skill] to dart behind a large pillar. The fireball shot toward the creature's chest, hitting it squarely in the middle. The Batwing Leviathan screeched in pain as it faltered mid-flight, its wings briefly locking up before it regained control.

"Got you!" Oscar grinned, feeling a surge of confidence. The creature had been knocked off balance for a moment, and he knew that was his chance.

He surged forward, his sword raised high. "Let's see how well you handle this!"

He lunged at the creature, slashing at its legs with all his strength. The sword dug deep into its flesh, but the Leviathan retaliated, swinging its massive claws at him. Oscar was forced to dive to the side again, narrowly avoiding the deadly blow.

His heart pounded in his chest as the battle raged on. The Batwing Leviathan's attacks were relentless, and Oscar could feel the exhaustion beginning to settle in. But he refused to back down. This was a test—one that would push him beyond his limits. He could feel his system tracking his progress, and with each successful dodge or strike, his confidence grew.

Oscar took a deep breath, steadying himself.

"This ends now."

With a swift motion, he cast [Fireball] directly in front of the creature, blinding it with a burst of flame. Then, he activated [Agility Skill] and charged forward, sword at the ready.

The Batwing Leviathan then charged as he was slammed though a wall, as it went to the air, as it starts to make Sound waves attack as Oscar rolled out of the way as he kept doing that as then it dived done as Osace moved away as then it's tail slammed into Osace body doing more damage

[ Hp: 30% ]

Oscar's heart pounded in his chest as he scrambled to his feet, barely managing to roll out of the way of another sonic wave from the Batwing Leviathan. His body ached from the constant onslaught, and every breath felt like a struggle. The creature had already proven itself to be far more dangerous than anything he'd fought before, but Oscar wasn't about to back down now.

His body, already battered from the previous blows, felt something new coursing through him—a strange, almost overwhelming energy. He winced as it surged through his veins, realizing what had just happened.

"Oh shit," Oscar grunted, feeling a sudden cold wave settle in his stomach. "I got Poison."

[Poison—Status Effect: Activated]

[Poison Resistance Skill: Active]

[Healing Effect: +5% HP per second for 10 seconds.]

Oscar quickly took a deep breath, the cool, almost calming energy of Poison spreading through his body. His pain began to lessen, the healing effect giving him just enough relief to keep going. The Poseidon Resistance Skill made it bearable, dulling the intense pain from the Leviathan's strikes, and the healing effect provided a much-needed boost to his diminishing HP.

[HP: 30% → 40%]

"Not bad, but I still need to finish this!" Oscar gritted his teeth, his sword tightly gripped in his hand as he braced himself. The Batwing Leviathan, enraged by Oscar's resistance, let out a deafening screech and took to the air again, its wings causing a gust of wind that threw Oscar off-balance.

The creature's wings flapped powerfully, sending waves of destructive sound toward Oscar. The sonic blasts were intense, almost enough to disorient him completely, but he wasn't going to let that happen. Rolling to the side, he barely managed to avoid the full impact, though the shockwaves still rocked him, sending him stumbling forward.

[HP: 35%]

Oscar quickly forced himself back up, gritting his teeth as the Leviathan dived once more, claws bared and its tail trailing behind, ready to strike. Oscar could feel the weight of the battle bearing down on him, but there was no time to think about anything except survival.

I need to act fast.

The Leviathan's tail crashed into the ground where Oscar had just been, the force of the attack sending debris flying and creating a small crater in the stone. The impact rattled Oscar's bones, his vision swimming for a second, but the Poseidon effect kicked in again, numbing the worst of the pain.

[HP: 30% → 35%]

Oscar's head was spinning, but he focused, narrowing his eyes on the Batwing Leviathan as it began to hover in the air, preparing for another strike. He could feel the wind around him pick up again as the creature gathered its strength.

With a flash of inspiration, Oscar grinned through his pain. This is my chance. He reached deep into his reserves, gathering energy as he prepared his next move.

"Wind Slash!" Oscar shouted, his voice strained as the sharp gust of wind shot toward the Leviathan. But this time, he didn't just let the attack fly; he combined it with his next spell, adding the elemental fire to the wind as he shouted, "Fireball!"

The combined attack roared through the air, the wind pushing the fire forward with explosive force. The fire wrapped around the wind, creating a deadly vortex of flame that screamed toward the Batwing Leviathan.

The creature screeched in fury as the attack slammed into its chest, igniting its fur and wings in a massive explosion of fire and wind. The air crackled with energy as the creature writhed in pain, the flames licking at its body and burning away its dark scales.

Oscar didn't give it a moment's rest. He rushed forward, using what little energy he had left. The Batwing Leviathan was still flapping its wings desperately, trying to escape the inferno that had engulfed it. Oscar closed the distance, his sword raised high, ready to finish the battle.

With a final roar of defiance, the Batwing Leviathan attempted to flee, but it was already too late. Oscar brought his sword down with all the force he could muster, cutting through the creature's burning body with a devastating slash. The creature let out one final, agonizing scream as it collapsed to the ground, smoke and flames curling around its body as it fell lifelessly to the stone floor.

Ding!

Dungeon Boss Defeated!

Oscar staggered back, his body screaming in pain as the adrenaline began to wear off. His breathing was ragged, and the effects of the Poseidon skill had faded, but he had done it. The Batwing Leviathan was no more.

[XP: 5000]

[Level Up!]

[Level 20]

Oscar took a moment to catch his breath, watching as the flames around the creature's body began to die down. His HP was dangerously low, but at least the battle was over. He had survived.

With a grimace, he leaned against the nearest wall, letting the system's healing effects kick in slowly. The dungeon was eerily silent now, save for the faint crackle of the dying embers. It was over.

"Damn, that was too close," Oscar muttered, wiping the sweat from his brow. His body ached, his muscles sore from the brutal battle, but he knew this was just the beginning. There would be more fights, more challenges ahead. But for now, he had a moment of peace.

As his level-up notification flashed, he felt a brief sense of accomplishment. But he also knew that the next battle would come faster than he was ready for.

Oscar straightened, taking one last look at the defeated Batwing Leviathan before turning to leave the dungeon, knowing full well that the next test of his strength was already on the horizon.
