Running a Fantasy Fertility Clinic

Chapter 3: Chapter 3

(To be a martial artist with such a healing factor.) Stone bemused himself as he took the blood samples with him.

"Stay put, I will prepare the equipment for the scan soon, it shouldn't take long." Stone reassured her as he left the room.

"Chelsea!" Stone called out, unsure of where the girl went.

"Here Doc!" she responded from his office, where she skipped out of.

"I'm taking these to the back, can I get you to do the ultrasound on our patient in room one?"

"Sure thing Doc!" She chirped as she went to grab the ultrasound machine.

Chuckling to himself, Stone placed the vials of blood into the strange machine in the back and pressed the only button available. Soon a low hum could be heard and a timer appeared.

"So far so good." Stone told himself as he observed the green lights and numbers. As he lost himself in the lights of the machine and his own thoughts, Chelsea successfully finished the ultrasound scan and led a bright red Wu Meirong back to the lobby.

"Doc!" She shouted, only to receive no response. Peeved at the thought of being ignored, Chelsea put the ultrasound scanner back to where she got it from and went to find the stinky doctor. It took her a while but she finally found him in the back, lost in thought, standing in front of the blood analyzer.

"Doc!" She shouted again, in a loud whisper. "I finished her scan and sent you the results. I'm going back to the break room, k'ay?"

"Alright." Stone mumbled back, taking one last look at the results from the analyzer and comparing them to what he found in the book.

(Doesn't seem like there's any big problems.) Stone thought to himself as he walked back to the lobby. (It's fine for now, but maybe I should do the consults in the private rooms instead of the lobby. What has that girl done to our patient…)

In the lobby, the still bright red Wu Meirong sat gingerly on the sofa, with another cup of tea in her hands.

"Hello-"

"Eeep!"

"..."

"..."

Frozen in place from her reaction, Stone gathered himself and chose to ignore the outburst.

"Ahem." Stone sat across from her. "Madam Wu, looking through the results of your blood and body scans, there is nothing wrong with your body in regards to conceiving a child."

"Thank you." Wu Meirong let out a sigh of relief. "Then do you know why I haven't been able to bear a child?"

"I only have a vague idea or guess about your situation." Stone replied as he tried to figure out how best to articulate them.

"To what I understand, the people in your world, you included, practice cultivation techniques, correct?"

"That's right…" Wu Meirong replied suspiciously.

"I think that's where the problem lies." Stone said bluntly. "From my understanding, Women usually have a yin constitution and Men usually have a yang constitution. When you and your husband engage in intercorse, the essence he releases in you is mainly yang energy, which your yin constitution absorbs to assist your cultivation."

"Then unless we somehow figure out to suppress our cultivation, then there is no hope for a child right?" Wu Meirong said dejectedly.

"I wouldn't say there is no hope for you, Madam Wu." Stone tried to sound reassuring. "I Have something that may or may not help."

Stone opened a drawer from the table and produced a small booklet.

"A cultivation manual?" Wu Meirong recognized what he was holding.

"So that's what it looks like to you?" Stone observed. "This is for you."

Stone placed the manual on the table and slid it towards Wu Meirong.

She glanced at the manual before focusing her eyes onto Stone with a suspicious look.

"No sane person, spirit, or ghost would give out a cultivation manual for free, especially one that has an effect on someone like me, who is near the apex of cultivation. What is it that you want?" Wu Meirong hissed.

Unfazed, Stone glanced at her and gave a chuckle.

"It's not what I want." He began. "It's what I can no longer have. I used to be in the same position as you, someone who desperately wanted a child, no matter the gender. With a soulmate who harbored the same feeling. Unlike you our lifespans are limited, coming of age in 18 years, and an average life of 90 years. We met during the golden age of our lives, and for 15 years we tried and tried for a child, to no avail."

Stone paused to catch his breath as he leaned back into the sofa, Wu Meirong doing the same, feeling the heavy emotions in his voice as she listened.

"One day, we achieved our goal. A spark of a new life was growing in her belly, we were beyond ourselves at that point. And for 9 long months, we waited and prepared to welcome this spark into the world. However, right when she went into labor, something went wrong. She started reacting to something. Her body started to convulse uncontrollably, I was there, unable to do anything. The doctors did everything they could. Restrained her so she couldn't hurt herself or the baby. Put under anesthesia to undergo an emergency c section. As they tried to save them both, I was pushed out of the room by the nurses, probably for the best as I was in the way."

Stone paused as he took a sip of water. Taking a deep breath he calmed his emotions a little and was about to continue when he noticed the state of Wu Meirong.

Sniffing and stifling tears that fell down her face, trying her best to control herself.

"Would you like me to continue?" Stone asked the lady. "I didn't mean for my reason to turn you into such a state."
