Runemaster in the Last Days

No one liked Murin.

The fact that he had incited a magic beasts' tide in that world and then tried to do the same in this world was well known. All of them understood what Murin did and didn't agree with his decision.

But because the higher ups wants to use Murin's ability to clean up the magic beasts and so on, none of them made a move.

After all, it was true that Murin's ability was very convenient.

Riya was looking at Murin above and then said, "He's a rank 5 beast master now… so he can have 10 magic beasts."

Due to Murin's innate talent, he could contract with twice as many magic beasts as compared to other beast master. This gave him a great advantage because the feedback given by these magic beasts would allow Murin to advance through ranks faster than other beast meters.

But the drawback was that he had to feed a lo ton magic beasts.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that Murin is a poor person whose entire belongings were used to feed his pets.

Well, all professions are basically money eater.

Warriors have to buy a lot of magic beasts' meat for their own consumption.

Magicians have to find places or resources with a lot of mana to increase their training speed.

Magic warriors needed both resources from warrior and magician but at lesser amount each.

Rune master required a lot of raw materials to make runes.

It was the same for weapon master and alchemists who needed various raw materials.

Beast masters have to raise their magic beasts.

Necromancer have to collect countless corpses.

If one had to say, only those warriors and magicians were the simplest. Because training normally would still yield some result while the others would have to suffer a lot in gathering materials that they needed for their practice.

This is the price they needed to have in order to achieve result.

"10 magic beasts…" Samuel sneered. "If he dared to let those magic beasts come to attack us, I'll make sure none of them can come back alive."

Riya passed a glance at Samuel.

While he looked like he hated Murin so much, Riya knew very well that Samuel would not really do anything to Murin before he crossed the line. Because this world needed the returnees alive and well.

Otherwise, the battle against the magic beasts would never be so easy.

The large eagle swipe down and stopped not far from Riya and Samuel. The two of them were outside City I Base as Riya had just finished drawing the outer layer of the runes on the walls.

Murin was sitting on top of the eagle and jumped down when he saw the two of them. He recognized Samuel easily and his eyes moved towards Riya.

"You're the rune master."

It was a statement instead of a question.

Riya's eyes moved towards Murin's right ear where there was an earring hanging there. She recognized it as a special kind of magic beast that could transmit sound waves and was usually used in detection.

But this magic beast was relatively weak and usually lived in the cracks.

It was not so easy to catch them.

No matter how annoying Murin is, it was also a fact that he was a qualified beast master. He loved magic beasts much more than other people and longed to build a world for them.

Well… to the point that he was a bit too extreme, though.

"It seems that you manage to get a lot of rare magic beasts, Murin," Samuel said with a faint smile. "Many of them are of support."

Riya looked at Murin's left eyes and fell into silence.

Two detection type magic beasts, each complement the other and then two hidden magic beasts for sneak attack.

Murin truly made sure that no one would be able to kill him so easily.

Riya nodded silently.

It could be said that all of them were extremely careful in their actions and deeds. Not only because this might be their last chance to live but also because they have their own goals that they had failed to fulfill.

Being granted the second chance, who would want to waste their time?

"Heh, I think that you're eager to die again." Samuel's eyes turned cold. "After all, you dared to disobey orders and didn't come to help."

"I cleaned up the magic beasts in the distance…. With your runes, can't you see whether I'm telling lies or not?" Murin asked back and his eyes moved towards Riya once more.

Riya saw Murin's movement and arched her eyebrows.

This man is hostile to her.

Why?

She had never fought against him in the past…

But it might be more because of her identity as a rune master and Murin could see the strength hidden within her because of the magic beasts.
