Ruler's Awakening: Inheritor of the SSS-Rank Dimensional Talent

Chapter 56: Compensation Slips

***

The next day.

Fourth Floor City.

The city was crowded like before. People had returned from the monster raid yesterday night. Aaron returned to live in the previous inn room, with Isabella staying together in the same room as him.

At first Aaron asked Isabella to take another one, but she admitted that she was scared to sleep alone. In the end, she decided to stay in the same bedroom with Aaron.

"They look like they're doing their usual activities even though something bad happened yesterday. Didn't they see it?" asked Isabella, lying casually on the bed of the inn room.

Aaron was silent, continuing to watch the city streets carefully. Liel and Clara's death really hit him, he never thought his past deeds had any implications for his friends.

"Are you thinking about something?" asked Isabella, seeing Aaron's attitude turn cold and quiet.

"Yeah. I was thinking, is it possible that I can destroy the entire group of Night Liberators on every floor?" asked Aaron, looking sharply back, at Isabella.

"Are you trying to get revenge against them?" asked Isabella, Aaron again silently locked his mouth.

"Liel and Clara were unnecessary victims. They were just after me, there was no need for them to kill those two women," Aaron replied.

From the young man's words, Isabella could feel the aura of deep sadness in Aaron's heart. The woman got up from the bed and stepped closer to Aaron, embracing the young man's body from behind affectionately.

"That is your decision. I will follow wherever you go," Isabella replied, softly.

Aaron responded with a silent gesture, then turned his attention forward. Aaron's eyes narrowed sharply as he watched Daniels and Elsa walking together on the main street of town, Elsa walking while carrying a paper bag filled with groceries.

The young man released Isabella's hold on him, then leapt forward through his bedroom window. His gravity manipulation talent had been activated, solely to prevent injuries and other things to his body.

Daniels gasped, as did Elsa. They stopped their steps with their eyes focused forward, looking at the figure of Aaron who stood before them.

"Aaron?" asked Daniels.

Aaron's appearance looked different from what they remembered, a black robe with a cold expression on his face.

Not only that, the presence of a red title with the word murderer on it made Aaron look completely different to them.

"That title? Did you kill Elvan?" asked Elsa.

"It seems the news has spread widely about the death of that damn man. Yeah, I killed him and 20 of his men," Aaron replied, firmly.

Daniels asked Elsa to step back and take cover behind him. Their gesture drew the attention of the crowd, who saw a mage with a murderous red title standing right before Daniels and Elsa.

"It's a murderer!"

"Get away from him."

"Who did he kill? Did he kill the Night Liberators' mages?"

The man standing with Elsa felt the eyes of the townspeople begin to stare sarcastically at Aaron. If there was a riot here, the death toll would increase and the damage to the town would be massive.

'The situation is bad enough talking to him in a place like this. I'd better invite him to my mansion.'

"Aaron. Calm down. Let's talk nicely, there's no need for violence."

"Sure. I really want to talk to you about something," Aaron explained.

After deciding where they would talk, Aaron went flying using his neutral step gravity sub talent. He flew leaving Daniels and Elsa who followed behind.

Isabella stood before the inn, watching Aaron's leaving for another place. Her heart was still restless and anxious, she could only hope that Aaron's encounter with Daniels and Elsa could ease the anger in his heart.

Arriving at the Daniels residence, Aaron arrived earlier by standing waiting for the gate to open. Two guards said that Aaron could only enter if there were further orders from Daniels, especially since the two guards saw Aaron's red killer title.

Daniels and Elsa arrived after twenty minutes of Aaron waiting. The three walked into Daniels' residence with Daniels' stance different, more wary than before.

Elsa would not join in their conversation as she was about to do something, cook for Daniels' and her dinner.

The two men ended up talking to each other in Daniels' office. He opened the bottle of wine and poured it into two glasses. Aaron usually refused to drink alcohol, but now he didn't have to follow such a rule.

"Those who are powerful are those who are in charge. Am I right?" asked Aaron.

"Since there is no definite government in this place, your words can be said to be true. Those who are strong have more power than those who are not," Daniels replied, taking a sip of wine from his glass.

"So, why did you kill him?" asked Daniels, downing the wine in his glass quickly.

Aaron did the same. After his mind was calmed by the wine, he began to explain the situation at the Dark Pillar. At the time, they were trapped by Elvan and his 20 men.

The young man also explained and suspected Elvan's 20 men were members of the Night Liberators, that's because Elvan mentioned that he was working with the Night Liberators to arrest Aaron and Isabella.

Daniels listened to all of Aaron's explanations, occasionally seeing the expression on the young man's face.

He seemed to have trouble telling everything he had experienced, as if there was a feeling of disappointment or resentment that prevented him from talking further.

The man beside Aaron cleared his throat in response. Last night, the raid team from Dimension Justice found the bodies of those people.

They took them away by carrying them one after another, including Elvan's body and head.

"I came after hearing there was a big killing. When I arrived, Clayton was at the location," Daniels said.

"Clayton?"

"He's the leader of the Night Liberators on the fourth floor. His presence was suspicious because none of my members mentioned that those 20 people were members of the Night Liberators."

"Clayton! I'm gonna come and kill you, damn it!" snapped Aaron.

"If indeed you managed to survive their death threat, your existence in this place is no longer safe. You need to leave town," Daniels replied.

The man picked up the wine bottle and poured it into two glasses. Aaron accepted the wine and downed it fast, as did Daniels.

"I'm gonna go upstairs," Aaron replied.

"Raid? You're being punished by the system. How are you going to participate in the raid?" asked Daniels.

"With a Compensation Slip. I'm sure you have it, right?" asked Aaron, pointing at Daniels.

Daniels was speechless, his hand not moving an inch while still holding his wine glass. Slowly, Daniels shook his head as he took a sip of wine from his glass, responding to Aaron's question.

"I used to have it, but all the compensation slips have been collected in one place. They collect them to prevent criminals from getting on the floor easily," Aaron replied.

"Where is it?"

"Dimension Justice Main HQ on the 50th Floor, Justice Palace!"
