Rowan went back to his tower after giving the speech and earning people's loyalty. Hynek and Henry stayed there, as they had to recruit new people to their command.

Bernard followed Rowan back, he wanted to understand what his duties meant and what he would do from now on.

Rowan went to the tower, which is where general meetings are going to be held, and the place was a mess. This is where Chamberlain was supposed to sit and do accounts and stuff, and also people can come and place complaints.

"Bernard, this castle is in ruins. How many men can you hire to chop down trees and fix the outer walls? We need protection now, bandits won't dare to attack when they see a proper castle standing here"

Rowan said while towards the keep, he took Bernard to his chamber and sat down to talk. Bernard thought for a bit and calculated things, he was a literate person now and a chamberlain of this castle, so he needed to do this stuff.

"My Lord, with my counting, there will be an immense need for timber to repair these walls. I would need about 800 silver to clean the forest out and 2000 more to repair the thing. I'll manage the people from the village in two shifts."

Bernard said a lord doesn't need to be concerned about how many people it would take to clear things out and repair it, it was the job of a chamberlain.

"Alright, done. I'll give you three thousand silvers for it. Make it done and also pick a person who is skilled in the area. After the garrison is selected, we will send them to the Sazava town to buy stuff."

Rowan said he wanted to buy food and armor with weapons, if a bandit comes now, he doesn't even have a sword with him to defend himself.

"I will search for such a person who can take you to the monastery town. Also, there's a coach nearby that can take our people and come back for 50 silver coins. My Lord"

Bernard reported, A coach is a cart that's pulled by a big ox or two horses, so it was actually very good service.

"Hmm, alright, search for a man who knows the town anyway. Tomorrow morning I will prepare the money for you. Send someone with the dinner, I am hungry."

Rowan dismissed the old Bernard and opened his system panel. He got used to opening it now, it comes in front of him when he says system in his mind and goes away when he has the intention to close it.

Rowan said with a smile, then walked to the window and looked at the Bailey, where eight young men were standing. Henry and Hynek were talking with four people each. Rowan smiled.

*Knock-Knock*

"My Lord, I bring dinner."

A peasant voice sounded after a gentle knock on the door.

Rowan walked to the door and opened it. As he guessed, it was Agnes who brought him the dinner, but she was not carefully handpicked by the villagers or Bernard, as he guessed before, but she just happened to be beautiful.

"Agnes, What did you bring for me? I am very hungry"

Rowan said with a smile on his face, then sat at the small dining table, which has two seats, while Agnes served him the plates and water. Rowan looked at the water with his face twitching, as it was a bit dirty-looking.

Agnes blushed, she was thinking about how a lord remembered her name, and then she served black bread and also a bowl of soup.

"Forgive me, my lord. My mother cooked some simple soup with a chicken we had and a piece of bread."

Agnes said she was still blushing, but she was also aware how hard it is for her family to feed a lord, they had to prepare a chicken, which was their prized possession, and it laid eggs.

"Why sorry? I am freeloading off your house right now, but don't worry, things are about to change. I am the lord. I will buy so many chickens for you that you need to learn how to count from your father"

Rowan said with a smile, then sat down. He took the wooden spoon and started eating, although there were not that many spices in the soup, it tasted good.

"Your mother does cook nicely, alright. You can go down and call Henry, the one with the sword. Tell him I have summoned him and his friend."

Rowan said after eating, he was looking at the system screen while eating and having a conversation with Agnes, and the progress was not going up, it was still 8/10, so he guessed that maybe he had to recruit Hynek and Henry.

"I will do that, sir, and I can read, my father has already taught me."

Agnes, saying this, ran outside. She was blushing and was not ready for him to compliment her anymore.

Rowan just shook his head. He had acquired another asset in this medieval time. Knowing how to read was like a superpower, and he got two people who could do that. He was happy.

After a while Henry and Hynek came, they looked happy and cheerful. They just recruited some men under them for the first time, so they were quite excited.

"Henry, Hynek, nice job out there. Did you get good people?"

Rowan asked, he was seated at his table, which he uses to eat and will temporarily use to read and write orders.

"We did get some young men, but they need training, they can only patrol and work as watchmenfor now."

Henry replied honestly with a bow.

"Yes, they have never held a bow before, so I gave them mine to hold, and they need more practice."

Hynek said he was happy to be commanding people now.

"I understand. I name you Henry as the second in command after me of this castle and commander of the sword division with a salary of 100 silver per month."

Henry bowed and kneeled with one knee. Hynek's eyes gleamed, he also wanted promotion and that much silver.

"Hynek, I name you the commander of the castle watch and Archer Division. You shall guard the walls from now on. Your salary will also be the same as Henry's: 100 silver a month."

Hynek also kneeled with one knee, and Rowan walked to them and helped them up on their feet with a smile.

"Brothers, I will provide you with your armor. Next, come to me with Bernard in the morning, I will have a plan ready."

Rowan said with a smile, then patted the shoulders of both men with a trusting smile. Hynek and Henry then left his chamber, as it was night and they needed rest.

Rowan sat on the bed and opened his system panel to look.
