Chapter 13: Bandit's.
Rowan grabbed Agnes by her arm very lightly and very softly asked in her ear.
"Who asked you to find Fair and Virgin? Do you even know what 'virgin' means?"
"My father did. I asked when they applied for the job if they were virgins, they said they were virgins, and that's why I recruited them."
Agnes replied, she was also talking very softly, her eyes were clear, and she looked like she had no idea what she was talking about.
"Sigh!! Well, ladies, don't worry, you just have to do some chores in the castle. There will be nothing that will make you uncomfortable."
Rowan said he wanted to clear up the misunderstanding between him and the villagers, but it was not that easy. A lord should be lusty, and that's a view every peasant has.
Damn!! That bastard Bernard.
Rowan gritted his teeth in anger, he could do nothing by telling the truth—that's how much people believed nobles.
"I will go back to the castle now, the sun is about to set, so you should also go back to your homes."
Rowan, saying this, walked towards the castle, people dispersed after they had seen Lana and Luna packing their things and go with the guard Agnes came with.
Agnes followed Rowan back, as she was not allowed by him to walk back to the castle alone orventure out of the castle alone.
"My lord, did I do something wrong? You seem to be a bit… upset with me."
Agnes said she was following Rowan back to the castle, and he was also silently taking her to the castle. Rowan was aware of the things that happened in the medieval period, so although he was bearing shame, he could take care of those two girls as well.
"You did nothing wrong, just ask your mother what the words you spoke mean next time."
Rowan calmly said the road was not long. As they were passing by the local granary, where people store their wheat, he saw two people at the far end of the dusty road.
The two men were crouching low and snooped along the edges in a low land, they were looking at the villagers very keenly.
Rowan stopped because villagers won't snoop in their own village, this must be some kind of stranger, and an armed stranger.
[Name: Dětřich.
Level: Guard.
Tip: Enemy]
[Name: Protiva.
Level: Superior Guard (40%)
Tip: Enemy]
Rowan first checked the stats panel, and seeing the clear indication, he understood the grave situation they were in right now.
I can maybe deal with them, but I can't risk it with Agnes present here.
"My lord?"
Agnes questioned seeing Rowan halting his steps suddenly.
"Agnes, hide in the side, use that smokehouse, be quick, there's an enemy in the front, don't run, I will handle them, and after doing that we will alert the villagers and the guards, but now I need you to be extremely calm."
Rowan said with a soft voice, just enough to not make Agnes panic, that he was a modern soul, although he had many memories of the old Rowan killing someone, he had never done it before, so he didn't want to take a chance with baggage by his side.
Agnes, hearing this, packed, but looking at Rowan, who was smiling, she calmed down and walked to the side, where a small, abandoned smokehouse was.
Rowan also acted like nothing happened, he walked slowly towards the place where the bandits were. Rowan noticed the bandits had weapons and also armor. One carried a longsword with a good scabbard, and another was holding an almost new war hammer. The armor didn't match their sizes at all.
Bandits,'s and if they have this armor, then they have many men. Maybe this is a scouting before a raid.
Rowan walked slowly to the bandits, and the bandits this time also noticed Rowan, who was approaching them. They, with a proud smile, came out, as they had already defeated such weak lords before.
"Evening stroll, lordling?"
The bandit with the sword said with a huge laugh that Rowan was wearing expensive clothes and had a beautiful face, so they thought, why not rob and kill this young lord who was all alone?
Rowan didn't reply, his hand was already on the dagger on his waist. He was just looking at their weak points.
Rowan pulled out the dagger, and as soon as he did, the bandit with the long sword attacked. His attack felt slow and very predictable to Rowan, who sidestepped and drove the dagger straight into the bandit's throat.
Blood sprayed as the body crumbled, the blood-gurgling sound was ear-piercing for Agnes, who was looking at Rowan from behind the thin smokehouse.
Rowan, who was in the middle of the fight, didn't care about sound because a war hammer was coming his way fast, the second bandit attacked.
Rowan ducked, the war hammer whistled over his head and smashed into the dirty road. Rowan used his agile body to lunge himself in the air in an arc and slammed his shoulder into the bandit's chest.
The bandit with his uncomfortable heavy cuirass staggered back and almost fell on the ground.
Rowan didn't give the bandit any time to react back, he slipped behind the bandit and pierced his thighs. He stabbed him six times in the thighs to immobilize him totally.
The bandit whose war hammer was now far from his grasp was still clawing and gasping with fear.
Rowan stood up and wiped his blade across the man's clothes to rid it of the blood, then he gestured to Agnes to come near to him. He left the bandit alive because he believes in information.
"My lord, so much blood!"
Agnes gasped seeing the pool of blood, and Rowan didn't hinder her vision as well because this was the medieval era, and she should be as tough as possible.
"Not mine. Call the village head, and Kunesh should also be in the village. Call them while I stay here and wrap this man up, otherwise, he will die bleeding."
Rowan said calmly, even he was surprised by how calm he was in the face of such viciousness.
