Chapter 11: Departure.
Next morning.
Bernard came early to wake Rowan up because he wanted to take Rowan's body size and also notify the lord before leaving.
"Eh! You're ready already? The soldiers have decided what weapon they want"
Rowan opened his chamber's door while yawning; he was busy drawing his new coat of arms last night.
"Yes, my lord, we four have talked about it mostly and decided for the soldier who deserves what now. Everyone wanted the best and most expensive suits of armor but didn't deserve them yet, so the division commanders have decided on the matter together."
Bernard reported he was quite nervous about informing him because Rowan didn't agree on such matters, but seeing Rowan nodding with approval, he also smiled and took Rowan's size.
"Here, Bernard, make this an insignia; this will be our coat of arms from now on."
Rowan gave Bernard a sketch that he drew last night. It was different from his Oakvale house symbol; it was blue with a silver cross on top of it, whereas Oakvale's has a white and blue background with a golden cross on top of it.

"I understand, my lord. I will implement this color on the soldiers as a house crest as well and also make flags."
Bernard reported he was going out now after taking Rowan's measurements.
"Wait for me; I will come down as well."
Rowan said, and then after five minutes he walked down to the inner courtyard, which was full of villagers. Kunesh's men also had gotten some old clothes from the villagers.
The outer courtyard has two horse-drawn open carriages stationed in it. Soldiers have already boarded the carriages, but seeing Rowan, they wanted to jump and give a bow.
"No need for formalities, soldiers. Go finish this mission as soon as possible, help each other, and remember we are waiting for you here, so don't make any rash or bad decisions that can lead to certain doom. The other lords are always watching; one mistake and a war will be on our hands. Good luck, men, and also, fuck wenches to your heart's content."
Rowan first was very formal with a serious tone, then he smiled in the last line with a chuckle and walked back to where Henry, Hynek, Kunesh, and Bernard were standing and planning.
"My lord" x 4
The four men greeted his arrival with a polite bow; Rowan also nodded his head in response.
"Hynek and Henry, take care of the whole operation; take counsel from the brotherhood division people—they are battle-hardened. I have seen them fight, and I can say even a king might not reject their service."
Rowan patted his childhood friend's shoulder and smiled at them.
"I understand. Here, take this. You lost your weapon and everything. This dagger might not be that good, but self-defense can still be done with it."
Henry pulled out a dagger from his waist and gave it to Rowan. Rowan took the old dagger in his hand, and seeing the shiny steel in his hand, he took it. Henry must have sharpened this last night.
"Thank you. Return safe. Go board the cart."
Rowan said to Henry and Hynek and walked towards Bernard, who was the only one still not on the cart. Agnes was at the side of her father and was observing the lord, and she found her lord to be charming and very kind.
"Bernard, go!! Although I didn't want to panic the troops, my father might also want to kill me, so come back as soon as possible"
Rowan said, his voice urgent, last night he had contemplatedthe attack that killed the original Rowan from this world. He was not the son of Lord Alaric, so he could look at the attack from a third person's perspective, and the attack was heavy; such people were hardly any bandits.
"My? My lord?"
Bernard, hearing this news, was shocked, but before he could react, Rowan grabbed him by both shoulders, and he smiled reassuringly.
"No need to panic; we need a weapon and also food, so you not going or creating a fuss will ultimately make me die anyway, so keep it a secret, and here's the letter. This seal was made by me, so they might not recognize it, so here, take this 1000 silver bribe to enter the Rataje Castle. Also tell every trader to come here every month; we will purchase food and every other item in bulk."
Rowan gave Bernard a letter of introduction, but it won't be enough, so he withdrew 1000 silver last night as well to bribe the lords and guards so that his men can enter the castle and make him armor.
"I will use it and come back as soon as possible with completing my mission."
Bernard said he was now very serious about this mission and wanted to depart as soon as possible.
After hugging his family, Bernard also went up to the carriage, and it started moving. The people in the village came out to see such people going out of the castle and vanishing into the distance.
Rowan was standing on the castle wall, looking at the carriages vanishing into the forest road far from his castle. Agnes was just beside him, and she was also looking at that distance.
"Sad?"
Rowan asked, and he patted her little head. She was on the verge of crying, as her father had never left the village as long as she remembered.
"N... Yeah, I am."
Agnes first wanted to decline, but she told him anyway; she felt like she was really a child in front of this lord.
"Good."
Rowan said while still looking at the distance.
"Why's that good?"
Agnes questioned while wiping the tears from her cheeks and eyes.
"It means you hate losing, it means people are precious to you, and it means your father means something to you. Do you know how well he will do in this mission? What if he flees? He has almost taken a small fortune with him; he can run away with it, buy land, and form an army with that amount of silver he took"
Rowan said with a chuckle, then removed his patting hand from Agnes's hand.
"I know he will come back; he will come back after finishing his job, and he's not greedy. Don't worry."
Agnes said she was a little sad and also angry that Rowan was questioning her father's integrity.
"Who said I am worried? Hehe, if I was, I wouldn't have sent him in the first place. I trust him fully"
Rowan said with a smile that he was having a great conversation.
"Then why did you say such mean things about him?"
Agnes asked, and she was crying and also a bit angry.
"Because while he is getting far from his home and family, he will come back with doing what he is expected, and we are still standing here doing nothing but crying. He will be sad when he comes back and finds a daughter who only cries after he went for a work for a few days."
Rowan said, and then with a smile departed from the wall, leaving Agnes alone in the wall. She soon wiped the final tears from her eyes. She then picked up the paper and quill of her father and went to Rowan's chamber to learn how to multiply.
