ROYAL KOMBAT

Chapter 8: Adapt Or Die!

A Rebellion Starved of Steel

A rebellion can not fight an empire with rusted swords, and stolen daggers. If we were to stand against Kai-Hoon's forces, we needed true weapons of war.

The Imperial Armory—a hidden supply depot nestled deep within the Baekdu Mountains—was our target. A fortress of steel, guarded by war machines and Imperial elites.

But I did not plan to charge in like a reckless fool.

I planned to burn it to the ground from within.

> MISSION OBJECTIVE: RAID THE IMPERIAL ARMORY

✔ Infiltrate the supply depot without raising alarms

✔ Sabotage the war machines

✔ Steal legendary weapons for the rebellion

---

Infiltrating the Armory – The Ghost Enters

The Baekdu Mountains were a merciless, frozen wasteland, winds howling through the jagged cliffs like the wails of vengeful spirits.

Disguised in the armor of a fallen Imperial officer, I approached the main gate, my face hidden beneath a battle-worn helmet. My forged identification scroll was tucked into my sleeve—just in case.

> SYSTEM WARNING: ENEMY SCANNING FOR INFILTRATORS

Stay unnoticed or risk full-scale combat.

Two guards blocked my path. Their gazes were sharp, trained to detect even the smallest deception.

"Halt! State your business." The imperial guards said on stopping me.

I bowed slightly, keeping my voice steady.

" I am Bae Kae, Courier from the Golden Pavilion. The Merchant Queen sends tribute to the war effort."

I gestured to the sealed crates behind me, filled with supplies—but also hidden alchemical bombs, ready to be detonated.

> SYSTEM PROMPT: BLUFF OR BRUTE FORCE?

I chose bluff.

One guard narrowed his eyes, but the other nodded. "Proceed."

Fool. I was already inside.

---

Sabotaging the War Machines

The armory's heart was a massive warehouse, filled with steel-forged weapons, alchemical explosives, and most dangerous of all, was a mechanized siege beasts, mechanical war machines designed to crush entire battlefields.

If Kai-Hoon unleashed these upon the rebellion, we wouldn't stand a chance.

I moved through the dimly lit corridors, placing black powder charges at key structural points. Silent, efficient, yet deadly.

> SYSTEM UPDATE: SABOTAGE 80% COMPLETE

Just as I set the final charge, a voice cut through the silence.

"I expected you sooner, Shadow Prince."

From the shadows stepped General Baek Mu-Ren, Kai-Hoon's legendary war strategist.

His sword gleamed under the torchlight Soulpiercer, a blade said to cut through a warrior's very spirit.

> BOSS ENCOUNTER: GENERAL BAEK MU-REN

A master of counterattacks, and battlefield tactics. Victory unlocks legendary schematics, and tactical upgrades.

The alarms rang. The battle had begun.

---

The Duel of Shadow and Steel

Baek Mu-Ren wasted no time. His first strike swiftly shattered the stone where I had been standing.

I dodged left, then rolled beneath his next attack, barely avoiding the edge of his Soulpiercer. His movements were too precise, too disciplined, he was reading my attacks before I even made them.

> SYSTEM PROMPT: ADAPT OR DIE – CHANGE FIGHTING STYLE?

✔ Assassin's Precision (Fast, targeted strikes)

✔ Shadow Feint (Illusions & deception-based counters)

✔ Berserker's Wrath (Unleash raw power, reckless but overwhelming damage)

I selected Shadow Feint.

Baek Mu-Ren lunged, but I was already gone, just an afterimage in the flickering light. I reappeared behind him, striking for his blind spot, but he suddenly spin around, blocking me effortlessly.

"Clever. But I have seen every trick in the book." He said with a grin.

He continued to countered with a devastating slash, forcing me back. I was running out of options. Then I saw it—an opportunity for me to win.

The support beams. The war machines, and the black powder barrels.

I didn't need to win. I just needed to bring the whole damn place down.

> SYSTEM UPDATE: SABOTAGE 100% COMPLETE – DETONATE NOW?

Quickly, I activated the explosives.

---

Escape from the Burning Fortress

The Imperial Armory erupted in a massive fireball, metal twisting, and loud screaming of humans in pain, as war machines collapsed in flames.

Baek Mu-Ren staggered, his blade slipping from his grasp. Even he hadn't seen this coming.

"You… would destroy all of this?" He asked.

I stepped backward, watching the flames rise.

"Better it is totally burned than to be in Kai-Hoon's hands." I said.

Then I vanished into the night, leaving Baek Mu-Ren to perish in the ruins.

> VICTORY – IMPERIAL ARMORY DESTROYED

Rewards Earned:

✔ Blueprint: Phantom Blade (Allows crafting of legendary assassin weapons)

✔ Tactical Upgrades (Increases army combat efficiency in rebellion battles)

✔ New Base Feature: Armory Forge (Crafting war supplies for the rebellion now unlocked)

---

A War on the Horizon

With the Imperial Armory destroyed, and Wu-Ji dead, we had struck two devastating blows against Kai-Hoon.

But the war was far from over.

The Emperor's Tomb still held secrets to powerful relics that could change the tide of battle.

And Kai-Hoon's elite personal guard was hunting me.

> NEXT MISSION: INFILTRATE THE EMPEROR'S TOMB AND UNCOVER THE FINAL SECRET

The Emperor's Tomb, and the Gathering Storm

The Final Bastion of the Empire

The Emperor's Tomb was no ordinary burial site, it was a fortress, a place of ancient traps, and a vault of forgotten power.

Legends spoke of a hidden relic within, one that could either grant immense power to its wielder, or bring ruin upon the land. If Kai-Hoon reached it first, the rebellion would be crushed before it even began.

But storming the tomb meant facing his elite personal guard, they are called Silent Blades. They are assassins so skilled that their names were erased from history itself.

I would not wait for war to come to me. I would bring the war to Kai-Hoon's doorstep.

> MISSION OBJECTIVE: INFILTRATE THE EMPEROR'S TOMB

✔ Bypass the tomb's deadly defenses

✔ Eliminate Kai-Hoon's personal guard

✔ Claim the legendary relic before the empire does

---

Upgrading the Hidden Base – Preparing for a Prolonged War

Before I departed, I issued my final orders. The rebellion could not survive on sheer will alone. We needed stronger defenses, better weapons, and a place to strike from the shadows.

> HIDDEN BASE UPGRADE OPTIONS:

✔ Fortified Defenses – Reinforce strongholds to withstand prolonged assaults.

✔ Advanced Blacksmithing – Unlock master-crafted weapons and armor for troops.

✔ Assassin Training Grounds – Train elite operatives for stealth missions and targeted assassinations.

✔ Strategic War Room – Unlock real-time war planning, allowing larger-scale strikes.

I allocated the resources wisely, spreading our power across defense, offense, and intelligence.

> SYSTEM UPDATE: HIDDEN BASE NOW LEVEL 3

✔ Elite assassins can now be deployed in tactical missions.

✔ Crafting legendary-grade weapons now possible.

✔ Rebellion morale increased – new allies more likely to join.

With preparations set, I gathered my most trusted warriors, Jin-Ho, the exiled general; Hae-Rin, the alchemist; and Cho-Min, the silent blade.

"Storming the tomb is madness. But if we wait, Kai-Hoon will beat us to it." Jin-Ho said

" You know ancient relics are never without cost. Are you ready to pay the price?" Hae-Rin asked and I smiled.

"We strike before dawn. There will be no second chance." Cho-Min suggest, and I nodded.

"Then we leave now."
