Ron’s Journey Through Remnant

Chapter 6: 6- How to make friends

As the Bullhead touched down, the students began to disembark, their excitement palpable. Gaster, however, was deep in thought as he walked alongside Ron.

[Gaster]: From what I've gathered, every team at Beacon needs to have at least four members. We're two short. Do you have a plan for that?

[Ron]: I could summon people, but we'd have to do it somewhere inconspicuous. You'd also need to unlock their Aura once they're here.

Gaster nodded, his mind already turning over potential strategies. Then, as if remembering something crucial, he looked at Ron with a hint of weariness in his eyes.

[Gaster]: Speaking of which... do you have anything to eat? And maybe some coffee? I haven't had any in a long time, and I'm really craving some dark coffee right now.

Ron chuckled, reaching into his inventory and pulling out a small container filled with food and a thermos.

[Ron]: Never leave home without it. Here, this should tide you over until we can find a proper meal.

Gaster took the offered food and thermos, savoring the aroma of the coffee as he opened it. He took a long sip, a contented sigh escaping him as the bitterness of the dark coffee washed over his senses.

[Gaster]: You're a lifesaver, Ron. This coffee is exactly what I needed.

[Ron]: Anytime, Gaster. But if we're going to summon people, we'll need to let Ozpin know about it

Gaster nearly choked on his coffee, spitting it out as his eyes widened in disbelief. He stared at Ron, stunned.

[Gaster]: You want us to talk to the man who blackmailed us into joining his academy and just casually inform him that we're planning to summon two people out of thin air to join our team? Are you out of your mind?

[Ron]: Look, we don't have much of a choice. Ozpin's already keeping a close eye on us, and if we suddenly have two new teammates without any explanation, it's going to raise a lot of suspicion. Better to be upfront and have him on our side, or at least, not against us.

Gaster frowned, his mind racing as he considered the situation. It was true that Ozpin had them under his thumb, and trying to sneak around might only make things worse. But the thought of willingly going to Ozpin with this plan left a bitter taste in his mouth—bitterer than the coffee he had just spit out.

[Gaster]: Let's get this over with. The sooner we handle this, the sooner we can focus on finding our new teammates and figuring out what we're up against here.

[Ron]: Great, now go explain to Ozpin about the two new faces in the academy, and I'll handle summoning them. Okay, bye!

Before Gaster could respond, Ron dashed off, leaving him alone with his thoughts. Gaster glanced at his coffee, still savoring the memory of the rich taste, when suddenly, a girl collided with him. The coffee spilled, staining the ground.

Gaster stood there for a moment, stunned, before turning to face the girl who had accidentally ruined his coffee. It was Ruby.

[Ruby]: Oh no, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to—

Gaster's initial frustration melted away as he looked at Ruby. Her resemblance to his son softened his mood, and he found himself smiling despite the mishap.

[Gaster]: It's alright, Ruby. No harm done.

[Ruby]: I didn't expect to run into you again so soon. I hope you're not too upset about the coffee.

[Gaster]: (chuckling) Not at all. I've had worse days. It's good to see you again, though.

[Ruby]: Yes, hi. My name is Ruby. You're Gaster from yesterday—the man with the hands and the skeleton thing.

[Gaster]: (smiling) That's right. I'm Gaster. Nice to meet you properly, Ruby.

[Ruby]: (grinning) Nice to meet you too! I didn't get a chance to properly thank you for helping out yesterday.

[Gaster]: (nodding) It was my pleasure. You and your sister seem to be adjusting well here.

[Ruby]: Yeah, She just left me after meeting some of her friends and I'm.

Before Ruby could continue, she accidentally bumped into a cart full of suitcases, causing them to spill across the floor. The commotion caught the attention of a girl with striking white hair, who looked at Ruby with a mixture of anger and frustration.

[White-Haired Girl]: What are you doing?

[Ruby]: Sorry.

[White-Haired Girl]: Sorry? Do you have any idea of the damage you could have caused?

Ruby tried to pick up a suitcase, but the girl snatched it from her with a swift motion.

[White-Haired Girl]: Let me handle this. This dust is mine and was purified in the Schnee Quarry.

The girl's demeanor grew increasingly irritated, and Gaster noticed the tension in the air. He summoned his hands as a precautionary measure, ready to intervene if needed.

[White-Haired Girl]: Are you brain-dead? Dust—fire, water, lightning, energy. Do you even understand what you've done?

The girl pulled out a dust crystal and began shaking it, her frustration palpable. Gaster's hands positioned themselves defensively, ready to shield him from any potential mishaps.

[White-Haired Girl]: Are you even listening to me? Is any of this sinking in? What do you have to say for yourself?

As the girl's agitation grew, Ruby sneezed at just the wrong moment, causing a small explosion that burst forth from the dust crystal. The blast hit the girl squarely.

Gaster watched the scene unfold, a bemused smile on his face. His hands, still holding notebooks, took detailed notes on the incident, capturing every moment with a mix of curiosity and amusement. Despite the chaos, he found the situation both entertaining and informative.

[White-Haired Girl]: Unbelievable this is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about.

[Ruby]: I'm Really really Sorry.

The White-Haired Girl looked at Gaster in surprise as he stepped in, his tone firm yet calm.

[Gaster]: Miss, I don't know who you are, but causing a scene won't help. Dust is highly reactive when refined, and mishandling it can be dangerous. Perhaps it would be best to handle this situation with a bit more care.

The White-Haired Girl's anger flared even more as she took in Gaster's words.

[White-Haired Girl]: Unbelievable. Do you and that dolt over there understand why we're here? We're not here to make friends. We're here to fight monsters. So watch where you're going!

Ruby's face flushed with frustration.

[Ruby]: I said I was sorry, princess.

[Black-Haired Girl]: It's "Heirs," actually.

The girl with the bow and black hair spoke up.

[Black-Haired Girl]: I'm Weiss Schnee, Heir to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest producers of energy propellant in the world.

[Weiss]: Finally, some recognition.

Gaster stepped in, his tone factual but pointed.

[Gaster]: The same company known for its controversial labor practices and dubious business partners. It has a history of conflict with the White Fang due to its mistreatment of Faunus workers.

[Weiss]: What? How dare you—!

Before Weiss could finish, Gaster nonchalantly threw a pinch of salt in her direction, a playful gesture that seemed to exacerbate her frustration.

[Weiss]: That's it! I'm done with this nonsense!

Weiss stormed out of the area, leaving Ruby and Gaster behind. Ruby looked at Gaster with a mix of shock and amusement.

[Ruby]: Did you really just throw salt at her?

[Gaster]: (shrugging) Sometimes a bit of salt helps to season the conversation. But don't worry, she'll cool off eventually.

Gaster's smile at the girl

[Ron]: Hay, Gaster I forgot to tell you that.

Ron looked at him and then at Ruby and tried to connect the dots together

[Ron]: You made a friend alone...

Ron looked at Ruby, who was still visibly uncomfortable but seemed to appreciate Gaster's attempt to lighten the mood.

[Ron]: (raising an eyebrow) And here I thought you were just focused on your coffee and notes. Looks like you've been busy.

[Gaster]: Busy indeed, especially after you left me alone. Did you finish the arrangements?

[Ron]: I did. I also informed Ozpin about the situation. He wasn't thrilled at first and made us sign a mountain of paperwork, but I managed to convince him that our new acquaintances were unique and worth including. They'll meet us when Ozpin throws his speech.

[Gaster]: Good work. I guess we'll have to put up with more of Ozpin's speeches then.

Ron and Gaster, Left Ruby with a student named Jaune Arc the two of them got along well.
