Vol 3 Chapter 13: Carting
Much to Foin's surprise, he slept quite well, and when he woke up, he was much more refreshed than he anticipated he would be; he even felt that he slightly slept in as Énilo and Gobu were already up by the time he did.
"Good morning..."
Foin mumbled as he scratched his eyes and looked around. Énilo was wearing the platic suit Foin had previously made. Since he didn't quite measure her body, the suit itself proved to be a bit too big for the girl, but still, it was usable.
"Oh, good morning, master!"
"Morning..."
Foin replied as he rubbed his eyes. His bag and the sword had already been prepared beside his bed, but still, a great breakfast was the first on his to-do list. Since he had cooked a considerable amount the day before, he just grabbed an already roasted meat and heated it up, slightly further roasting it by the fire.
And after he ate, he quickly walked over to his peteach, huunt and platic plants and harvested their fruits. He stored them in his inventory just to be safe and then looked at Gobu and Énilo.
"I guess it is time... Shall we get going?"
"Certainly, master!"
Énilo replied with a delighted grin. Gobu only nodded and looked back at the fireplace. By that time, the three of them all wore the special set of clothes made by Foin from platic.
"All right then... Gobu, don't forget what I told you!"
Foin said as he grabbed his things and started climbing out.
"And protect the area!"
Énilo added with a cold glare and then swiftly followed Foin.
"Phew, it is snowing even more than it did yesterday!"
Foin mumbled as he looked around. Although thanks to his clothes, he didn't feel cold, where he was not covered around his face, he did feel the chilly temperature. The snow was considerable. However, Foin believed that the reason he could move easily was due to his somewhat higher level and, as a result, high strength.
He noticed that Linyer was sitting by a small fire and was grilling some of the products Foin had given her previously. The girl was camping not far from where Foin had chopped the trees before the winter.
Due to the fire, a large amount of snow had melted in the area, making it easy to notice the great number of leaves left on the ground, which were still as green as brand-new ones.
On the other side of Foin's area, where the two carriages had stopped previously, only one remained, and on it sat a knight in black armour, almost as if they were not one bit bothered by the cold weather and snow. The knight was mostly covered by snow. The only reason they were still visible was that they slightly moved from time to time, brushing off some of the snow that had piled up on the armour.
As soon as Foin set foot, the knight shook their head and looked at him. Just at that moment, Linyer also noticed him and stood up. Though she was surprised as she noticed Énilo floating beside her master, she had no desire to complain. Instead, she quickly ate the half-cooked peppers in a jiffy.
"Oh, Foin! I thought you would be ready a bit later... You are quite early."
"Sorry about that... I don't quite feel the flow of time underground. I just slept, ate, and got ready."
Foin replied as he rubbed the back of his head nervously. In the meantime, Linyer quickly grabbed some snow and dropped it onto the fire. She repeated it a couple of times until it was finally extinguished.
"Phew... So, are you ready to go?"
"Of course!"
As soon as the girl heard Foin's reply, she smiled and walked over to the cart. She snapped her fingers after she opened the door to let Foin and Énilo step inside first. The coach instantly shook her body, removing most of the snow covering their armour, and nodded. As soon as Linyer closed the door behind her, the cart started moving.
Unlike how Foin expected, the start was so smooth that he didn't even notice that they were moving until he looked out the window. The seats were quite soft and smooth; it was pleasant to sit on, but the interior, just as he had expected, was roughly just as cold as it was outside, and their breath was quite well visible.
At first, Énilo was standing on the seat next to Foin, but as soon as he had positioned himself and leaned back against the soft backside, Énilo decided to sit on his lap. With a smile, she sat down on one of Foin's thighs and leaned against her stomach.
Seeing it, Foin only chuckled and gently patted the girl's head, who couldn't help but smile at the nice sensation. In the meantime, Linyer sat on the opposite side of the cart, in front of Foin. She looked nervous, lightly fidgeting with her fingers on her lap and staring at the ground.
"Erm... Foin, would you like me to warm the cart up a bit slightly? Although you seem to be wearing the suit you talked about yesterday... the journey will be a few days long..."

"Sure, I don't mind. At least we can relax a bit more."
Foin replied, however, that he was not motivated by the fact that it was cold. Instead, he was motivated by pure curiosity. He couldn't imagine how she would make the cart warmer. At first, he thought that since this was another world, maybe he was using some sort of magic.
His imagination was riding all across his mind. The girl pulled a leather pouch from her warm cloth and opened it. It seemed quite small; its volume could be roughly twice his closed fist, but the girl put her hand in it and started pushing it deeper. Almost her entire arm sank into that tiny pouch until the girl finally pulled her hand out, holding a fist-sized dark red crystal.
"It is a freshly mined... You could say heat crystal... "
The girl replied, seeing Foin's intense gaze on her fist, which held the crystal.
