RISE OF THE SWARM

Chapter 34: Rampage

The orc looked behind them in horror, the shaman was dead, struck by an attack none of them could even see. Without the support of the Shaman the state of the battle quickly began to shift once again, the orcs who were winning now began to retreat slowly as they were being pushed back.

Ghorruk looked around as the orcs fell back many of them dying, their heads launched flying by the blades of the metal beings. He tried grabbing onto the them, but they were too slippery and fast always managing to slip his grasp.

And so with a final below, he released the last order.

"RETREAT!" He commanded

The orc relieved at the order, quickly began retreating happily, the enemy they faced in front of them was too strong for them to fight. Retreating and regrouping was the best choice. They would live t fight another day, and perhaps they could assemble the orc tribes nearby to help combat this monstrous force.

Horizon watched from his holographic screen as the orcs began retreating. He debated between the choice of letting them leave, as to not incur any further damage to the rest of his forces and continuing to strengthen his forces and then seek the orks out, or he could just wipe them out right now.

Horizon crimson eyes glowed brighter as he picked the latter option. Purging organics was the sole purpose of his race, no matter what he would eradicate these orcs from the face of the planet.

<Rotary cannons back online.>

"Open fire."

The guns at the front roared back to life, they had been restocked with new ammunition. Ghorruk looked behind him, his eyes widening with fear, he had completely forgotten about those weapons.

"TAKE COVER!" He shouted as he covered his face with his arms. But the orcs were too late, they were exhasuted, they had been battling for too long. The Turrets unleahsed their payload, thousands of bullets screamed through the air tearing through the bodies of the orc like paper.

With terryfying scream they all fell down dead.

Ghorruk slowly opened his eyes, the turrets had stopped firing. He fell to his knees observing the carnage around him. Bodies of arcs lay sprawled out on the ground, holes littered their ifggers from where blood flowed like a fountain.

The sound of metal clanking tore him out of his stupor. Ahead in front of him 5 sentinel drones still stood intact. Their once pristine black metal amour was tainted with blood, not blood of their own. The orcs blood, it dripped down their, blades, down their amour.

No words were spoken as Ghorruk couldn't understand the type of enemy he faced. They didn't bleed, they didn't feel pain. What nightmare had these things come from. Their visors still pulsed with red energy, to Ghorruk they resembled demons.

Suddenly a cough. Ghorruk and the sentinels immediately turned towards the sound. Bolluk. He was still alive, albeit barely. He painfully tried standing up, his legs failing him as he fell back to his knees. His body was punctured through with holes. HIs tusk now shattered. A bloody hole replaced his right eye. He looked towards Ghorruk

"Chie…"

BANG!

His body fell back to the ground his head turned to fleshy gore. Ghorruk turned towards the group sentinels. One of them had fired a plasma shot from their shoulder cannons. Smoke billowed from it barrel as it turned to face Ghorruk.

Ghorruk roared in anger. A green aura radiating from his figure. The veins on the surface of his body began glowing a bright green. He unsheathed his massive axe, rushing towards the Sentinels.

He took a step quickly appearing on of the sentinels, his axe raised high in the air ready to cleave it in two. "MIGHTY CLEAVE!" He shouted, but the sentinel reacted faster. Thrusters attached to its feet spat flames propelling it self back dodging the mighty cleave from Ghorruk. The strike landed on the ground, splitting the ground in two, green mana residue lingering on the ground from the attack. He looked up at the sentinel, its agility mildly suprised him. With a gruff he prepared to attack once more.

The sentinels quickly spread out, unleashing their weapons. Multiple rounds of fire were shot into Ghorruk but he shrugged them of as if he couldn't feel pain. He disappeared again, reappearing once again in front of one of the sentinels, his fist clenched wound back ready to deliver a devastating blow. The sentinel quickly reached dodging but Ghorruk expected this, that attack was a feint using his left hand he grabbed onto the sentinel, he lifted it on top of his head he clutched its head, and feet and with a roar tore it into two.

The rest of the sentinels quickly retaliated, launching plasma shots from their shoulder cannons. The shots landed on Ghorruks body causing him to stagger backward, but he remained unarmed. He looked up laughing at the pathetic attempts of the sentinels to try and harm him.

With a roar he leaped high into the air, descending upon one sentinel, the sentinel successfully dodged the crash down but before it could get away Ghorruk lunged grabbing onto its legs. He then began repeatedly slamming it onto the ground shattering its body into pieces.

With a roar, he began beating his chest turning to the next sentinel with a large grin on his face. But before he could charge, a silver tendril tore through his chest, impaling his heart, appearing on the other side. He froze in his tracks, unable to move. He slowly turned his head back, staring at his assailant a silver figure, its red eyes gleaming in the dark.

Ghorruk slowly lumbered forward, dislodging himself from the spike that impaled him. Blood immediately gushed out pouring out of the wound like rain. He turned facing the silver figure. The surrounding sentinels raised their weapon, each one trained on Ghorruk incase he tried to attack Horizon.

Ghorruk smiled looking down at Horizon. With the last of his strength he raised his fist high above his head. But before he could bring them down. A shower of plasma bolts ravaged his body. With a groan Ghorruk fell to to the ground dead.
