Rise of the Rejected Deity from Chaos

Chapter 188: Ignorance vs Impertinence

Seiya's voice was calm, but undoubtedly dripping with edge. He stood firm by the door, rigid as he gazed straight at the commander's direction.

Shock bloomed within them all, spreading like frost through their limbs and rooting them in place—even the commander, who was well aware of Seiya's presence in the room was frozen. He was numb and speechless at the way Seiya casually burst out, nonchalantly giving away his presence—which to the commander seemed no short of foolishness.

The killer before the commander that was aiming to deal the final blow, was too shocked to even react. One, by the fact that someone other than the commander was in his chambers. And two, by the fact that he hadn't at all sensed Seiya's presence.

This to him felt too strange, because he was at a level high enough to sense even the faintest of presence. Then why? Perhaps because the boy standing at the door was a mere citizen, one without any presence?

But even if that was true, it still shouldn't be possible The killer reasoned. The only reasonable explanation would be that the boy before them was one strong enough to fully mask his presence. However, looking at the young boy, he didn't seem much at all—he looked no older than a mere, ordinary child.

The killer looked toward his standing comrades, silently asking if they had sensed the boy's presence in any stage since they arrived. But his comrades all shook their heads, shrugging that they had all sensed nothing.

He shifted his gaze back to the commander, catching him making eye movements toward Seiya who blatantly ignored him. He was silently questioning why Seiya had foolishly shown himself like this.

Scoffing, the killer spoke in an agitating tone. "Who would've thought," he asked, his shoulders bouncing upward as he scoffed once more. "Have you grown close enough to one of your workers to even share a room with them?" He asked, his voice casual like it had always been from the beginning—like the commander was no stranger to him.

With one swift hand movement, the killer ripped off his nose mask, feeling suffocated from the energy he had expended during the fight. He straightened up from his slightly hunched posture, settling his sword beside him with graceful ease as he turned toward Seiya.

"You know kid, I have no ounce of resentment toward you, but you'll have to follow the commander to the afterlife for having witnessed this," he said, bold and authoritative.

As always when he was displeased, Seiya brows wrinkled beneath his blindfold at the man's agitating voice and words.

"You're rude," Seiya blurted, voice steady and calm—surprising everyone in the room, including the commander who panicked, feeling Seiya was only provoking the killers and giving them a reason to actually kill him.

Before Seiya could continue speaking, the commander's raspy voice came through. "S-Seiya, why did you do this? You should've remained inside, and paid deaf ears to whatever was going on," he chided, his chest heaving up and down with such rapidness at each breath he took.

"You've endangered yourself by coming out here," he continued, his voice heavy with concern. "And now that you're out here, you—"

"Quiet," Seiya's voice cut through sharply with authority, interrupting the commander.

Although the commander hadn't lived long enough with Seiya, never once had he seen or heard Seiya speak in such a tone—that too, to him no less.

The commander was struck with more shock, one that numbed him of every pain. His eyes were struck wide open, glued at Seiya—the first person to ever speak to him in such an harsh, commanding tone aside from the elders of his family.

Even the killer who stood rigid was shocked by the way Seiya, a mere child, spoke so nonchalantly and authoritative—appearing so bold and unbothered despite being in the presence of killers and obviously seeing the corpses on the floor.

Put off by this, the killer attempted to speak, but Seiya was faster. "Is it not impolite if you interrupt someone's peaceful sleep?" Seiya asked, still calm, but anger stirred silently within him.

Ever since Seiya had stepped out of the chambers, confidently standing before the killers, and speaking as though he feared no one—they had seen him as strange, unable to comprehend his reasoning, hence they remained silent at Seiya's question.

Nonetheless, Seiya continued, the anger rising within him slowly intensifying.

"Ever since I stepped foot in here, I haven't been able to sleep," he revealed, making the commander aware of something he hadn't known. "Because of this, my eyes are strained, unable to recuperate properly." Seiya took his hand up, gently brushing it over his blindfold.

"Every heartbeat that echoes in my ears grates upon me—even yours, standing before me," he continued, voice edged with irritation. "Why must it throb so maddeningly?"

With a sharp whooshing sound, the killer swung his sword to the side, its blade gleaming in the soft blue glow of the barrier.

"Listen here young boy, while I'm most curious what audacity has got you speaking so boldly before us, I couldn't care less about your plights in this place," he said.

Slowly, he raised his sword forward, pointing it straight at Seiya. "Mannerless brats like you who have no sense of danger should be cut down without mercy," he declared.

"When you first walked in here and saw all this, the first thing you should've done is beg….beg for your life."

"Why?" The killer continued. "Did you barge in here thinking the commander had the upper hand? And are you speaking so boldly, acting unbothered because you believe the commander still has something up his sleeves?"

A loud cackle erupted from the man, his head falling back and bobbling as he laughed at his own derived conclusions behind Seiya's actions. Just as easy as his laughter started, it stopped.

"Your ignorance today will be the cause of your death. Do not hold it against me." The man moved a step to advance, but as soon as he took his first step, Seiya vanished, reappearing right before the man.

In an instant and in a blur of motion that none of their eyes could catch, Seiya's hand clenched around the man's throat—his tense fingers almost digging through from the intense pressure.

With effortless ease, Seiya lifted the man off his feet, and slammed him to the ground with a resounding thud. In the same instant, Seiya stomped one foot down on the man's hand holding the sword, pinning him in place.

"Your impertinence knows no bounds, it seems," Seiya seethed.
