Rise of the Omnimage

Kyrain and Nyx had the floor repaired over the course of the next few days and continued to wait for jobs. Clarksville, was not an overly crime filled city, but the crimes that did take place were usually Level 2 or above and they were not authorized to handle them.

They kept the house they used for their sting and began paying rent to the guild, but they were hardly there save to shower and sleep before heading back out to work at the guild or for Kyrain, assisting at the hospital with the more difficult patients as he used to as an initiate and Junior guild member.

In the rare times their schedules met up; almost too conveniently Nyx's cellphone rang. She answered it. After a few moments of talking on the other side, Nyx hung up with only confirmation of order's received.

"We're on. That was Phoenix and we are required to meet her in Seattle. We need to get moving, She gave us three days to get there." Nyx said.

"Time isn't an issue. Where did we need to meet her?" Kyrain replied back asking.

"Quest field and why isn't time an issue?" She asked.

"My uncle is the Warden for Washington and Oregon. I've been to Seattle and even better, because I've caught a Seahawks game a time or two with him." Kyrain explained.

He saw her shoulders slump in relief.

"You are a very useful individual. I need to keep you far from my father or he would turn you into a servant." She said with a smile continuing to eat.

"Servant? My uncles couldn't even do that." He said with a smirk.

Nyx froze then smiled.

"It's a joke Ky." She rolled her eyes and giggled.

Kyrain continued to chow down then opened a rift next to them the size of a small window. He saw it was wet and dreary in Seattle then closed the rift.

"Wet weather clothes and something to keep warm would be for the best." He said as Nyx just looked at him at such a, yet again, simple and effective use of his path.

She looked confused "Couldn't we just return here any time we need though?" She asked

He ignored her and got up. Seeing her smirk and raise her eyebrows in the corner of his eye.

They threw on darker jackets, then their masks before he opened a portal to the middle of Quest field. It was cloudy and drizzling. They walked out to the outer ring of the stadium, then he opened a new rift out of the gates to the streets he could see away from people.

They waited at the spot Nyx indicated for about 20 minutes before a woman with light brown or blondish hair appeared in a fiery Phoenix mask.

"Glad you could make it sooner than we set your deadline for. Come with me, you guys need to see the evidence and start learning." Phoenix said as she walked down the street.

They followed her to a non-descript building and after she punched a code into a panel, the door opened with a beep and click. She turned aside to allow them in, they were rather surprised upon entry. It was locked down with a security post and scanners, blocked off by a heavy black curtain.

"Remove any electronic devices you have and put them into one of the bins over there." Phoenix said tossing her phone into a bin and walking through the scanner which turned green indicating nothing on her electronically.

Kyrain and Nyx followed suit, once they were through the continued to follow Phoenix to another door, where she input another code and went in. Kyrain looked around the room that he realized was a morgue and on it was the body of a man.

"Put on some gloves and take a look at that body; let me know what you guys see." Phoenix ordered as she leaned back on the wall, folding her arms.

Kyrain was extremely hesitant to walk up to the body, but Nyx was not. She looked at the body as a whole then began to squint her eyes in a look of confusion.

"Is this a vampire?" She asked.

"Ding! Ding! Ding! Got it in one!" Phoenix said with enthusiasm coming through.

"Wait...what? Vampire? They exist?! Kyain asked not believing what he had heard.

Phoenix looked over. "Oh, don't worry team Jacob, the other side exists too." She said leaving Kyain confused.

Phoenix stepped off the wall and began walking toward a monitor next to the steel table the body was on. "The thing is, these one's do not sparkle in the light. They smoke and burn."

Kyrain and Nyx were still so confused by what she was saying. Nyx spoke up finally. "Ma'am, what does team Jacob and a sparkling vampire have to do with anything?" She asked.

Phoenix looked up and stared at the both of them. "You're serious? Wow...Ok! Uncultured swine don't even know about Twilight." She said turning the monitor. On was a video from a drone capturing a fight between a vampire and a hunter with an Apollo mask flashing beams of bright light at the vampire causing severe burns that quite frankly would not seem that effective.

"This is a recorded capture by the Level 4 hunter Apollo...see mask." Phoenix said.

"Apollo is usually a utility melee fighter with his ability to replicate sunlight. He never was able to figure out anything with his path save for blinding people, and slight solar burns. He does like to blind and snipe, as well as blind, burn, and slash with close combat. Extremely effective with a high body stat. That makes this fight impressive, he is blasting this vampire to pieces which, take that scalpel and try cutting." She continued.

Nyx looked at Kyrain who looked down, slowly picking up the utensil. He was hesitant, but with a little nudging from Nyx he made his cut on the arm...or tried to. There was no cut.

"You can take an axe to that skin and it would do little. Heavily reinforced by aether."

Kyrain used his aether sense, then used his nullification ability to coat the edge of the scalpel. The tool sliced easily into the skin, but not a drop of blood left.

"Huh, Useful skill." Phoenix said.

"Anyway...Now you both are in the know and we will be splitting you guys up for some training time with each of your trainers. Erebus, say goodbye to your girlfriend here, toss her a jacket, and head to the Black Rifle Coffee shop about a half hour from here." Phoenix said.

"Ma'am she's not..." He tried to say but was cut off. "Tick tock!" Phoenix said quickly.

Kyrain opened a rift allowing Nyx to rush to her room for a back she had with stuff in it and jump back through, before he headed out himself.

He got an Uber then was on his way.
