Chapter 12: Nevermore Territory (3)
Feline was one of the best restaurants in the Draconian Duchy. Just as its name implied, Feline served special dishes garnished with the meat of Spheric Beasts who either evolved from cats or were in fact cats. And surprisingly, the owners of said restaurant are non-Human creatures known as Felines.
Famous for their inhuman agility and fast reflexes, it was safe to say that after the Draconians, the Felines came second.
Hence, it was no surprise that even before the Draconian could take two steps, a shadow was already upon Damian.
'Fast!'
Even in his current frenzied state, the Draconian still had the time to think of this.
The truth was, were it not for an anomaly that was his mother, the Felines would have been the ones to dominate the Nevermore Territory. Although they lack strong defenses, that was more than made up for their insane speed.
Subconsciously, the Draconian relaxed, already expecting excellent results. If there were individuals he had little hope of defeating, it was his mother and experts of the Feline Race.
It just so happened one of the women that was hugging his arms was one of the latter. He really could relax.
Damian though, wasn't looking at the Draconian anymore. He had known from the onset that the greatest threats wasn't the Draconian, nor surprisingly was it the Feline that was upon him. No, the greatest threats were none other than the four Humans that followed behind him.
'Their despicableness knows no bounds…'
Although, it was perfectly hidden, how could anyone or anything at that in this Spheric Tower escape his current senses? He could make out the faint outline of items he recognized as explosives strapped to the bodies of the Humans.
And one thing was certain, should those explosives ever go off, even he wasn't positive of escaping without suffering severe injuries. Hence, he prepared to take out the Feline with the quickest method he could muster.
Even while still in his seat, Damian didn't seem to find it in his discomfort to kick out. The current Damian's Agility was 48, then adding the +20 he got from equipping the Light Saber, it rose up to 68! This meant he was nearly 7 times faster than the average Human before the Change.
How could the speed of this particular Feline faze him?
The attack was swift and fast. One moment the Feline was still readying her claws to rip Damian's throat, the next, an untold heaviness connected with her face, knocking the wind out of her.
"Ughh." She could only manage a groan.
She couldn't see anything. She couldn't hear anything. But what she did hear before she blacked out was the pained roar of her beloved.
"Cady!"
The Draconian was livid, shocked, angered, stupefied, vexed, surprised and… scared.
A whirlwind of emotion raged in his mind, and yet he didn't dare take a step. Cady had been the strongest individual he knew… after his mother of course. And yet, she had been knocked unconscious with a kick.
If Cady, who was a little stronger than him could only meet such an outcome, then what was his fate?
But then, he had to do something, anything, even if there was little hope of defeating this Human. Aside from getting revenge for his wife, there was another point that spur him on: his image, or more accurately, the prestige of his mother back at home!
How would the denizens view him if he were to cower before a Human? And more significantly, how would the Humans they had captured and maltreated react if they saw their kind forcing a mighty Draconian like him into a corner?
His eyes burned red. He refused to let that happen. He refused to allow his and his mother's prestige take a hit.
The next instant, crimson red flames exploded from his body, their tongues licking at his scales intimately. The air grew hot to momentous level, and all around, people began evacuating the restaurant. The heat was starting to get unbearable.
"I must thank you. Because of you, I have awakened my Lineage Gift. However, that has only quickened your death. Die!"
In one fluid step, the Draconian had suddenly went from the least dangerous of the group to the most dangerous of them.
To this though, Damian was unfazed. He still felt the combined might of the explosives strapped to the bodies of the Humans were more dangerous to him than the current Draconian.
That said, that didn't mean he didn't take him seriously. If he were to gauge the strength of the Draconian, then it was a little bit above the Venomous Scorpion that he fought back on Earth.
Of course, the Damian of then and the current Damian were worlds apart. The current him could one shot the Venomous Scorpion if he were to fight it once more. As such, while he didn't underestimate the Draconian, he didn't take him seriously either.
The Draconian suddenly lunged towards Damian, a roar escaping his lips as he brandished his claws, droves of hot crimson red flames coating them.
Damian reacted just as quick, his Light Saber emerging into view as he whisked it into motion.
The Draconian had no idea how it happened. With the added advantage of his awakened Lineage Gift, shouldn't he have become several times stronger? However, it appeared he had greatly undermined the Human.
He couldn't even register the immense pain that assaulted his whole body from his chest before he felt somewhat… lighter?
It was at that moment he understood the reason. He body lurched like a torpedo from his previous position, then bursting through the walls of the restaurant, before landing on the road. The asphalt succumbed to the weight and hardness of his scaled body, causing them to cave in.
The Draconian died immediately, the crimson flames on his body vanishing out of existence.
Damian swiftly stepped out of the restaurant. Before the Draconian died, he had faintly heard him mutter two words, and it wasn't good in any stretch.
"Kill… him,"
Damian had no doubt, the Draconian had been referring to the Humans.
Damian had barely taken ten steps away from the restaurant when an explosion with heat that put to shame the Draconian's crimson flame rocked the whole Duchy, sending all onto alert.
BOOM!
Damian didn't linger to witness the outcome. With few steps, he had already left the scene several miles behind. And he had no intention of stopping.
What stopped him though was the message that appeared before him. He halted, momentarily stunned, before a domineering laughter crackled from his mouth.
It seems lady luck was smiling at him.
