Chapter 10: Special chapter I
{Somewhere in the distant future}
"Mom, mommy, wake up!" I woke up from the fact that our daughter jumped onto Keqing's and my bed.
"Honey, let your mom sleep!" - my wife said sleepily.
"But mom, Aunt Raphtalia has already gotten up, and mom said she would make a pancake, since today is Maslenitsa!" - our daughter said youthfully, pouting her lips.
My wife opened her eyes, looking at me.
"Well, are you happy? Was it worth it for her to tell about this holiday from her homeland?"
I grinned at her.
"You bet!"
"Well then, go do whatever she asks!" - my wife said, pulling the blanket over her head, so that our daughter lost her balance and fell into my arms.
"Hehe, Mommy is warm!" our daughter said, snuggling up to me
I smiled and looked back at my wife who was wrapped in a blanket.
"What a pity. It looks like Keqing is refusing my…" I didn't have time to finish my sentence, as she threw the blanket back and looked at me with annoyance.
"I didn't say that!" which made me giggle
Then she looked at our daughter and asked.
"Young lady, have you brushed your teeth?" our daughter turned away, which made me giggle.
"That won't do! Ganyu is just like you!" Keqing said.
"Oh, is that bad?" I asked and pretended to be offended.
She rolled her eyes and replied
"No! Okay honey, let's go brush our teeth while your mom makes pancakes!" my wife said.
"Yes mommy!"
Then I watched my two girls go to the bathroom to wash their faces and brush their teeth.
I got up from the bed and walked out of the room and headed to the kitchen where Raphtalia was sitting.
"Good morning Raphtalia!" I said to the tanuki girl.
"Good morning sister!" she replied to me with a smile.
"How was your date with "??????", I remember how nervous she was when she met me!" I said thinking back to my meeting with my sister's girlfriend.
"Okay, well she was a little afraid that you wouldn't approve of our relationship, so she was nervous."
"Tell her that I support you, and tell her that I'm not that scary." I said puffing out my cheeks as I started making pancakes.
"Yeah yeah!" Raphtalia said laughing.
A few minutes later, my wife and daughter came down to the table and sat down and waited for me to make the pancakes.
Ten minutes later, I finished and carried a large plate with a mountain of pancakes to the table.
"Hurray!" my daughter shouted when she saw that I had finally finished.
Keqing only laughed at our daughter's reaction, but I knew that she was also delighted.
"How delicious!"
"Honey, try it with jam!"
"Yes, thank you, Mommy!"
Then I went to the kitchen and five minutes later came out and brought two glasses of milk.
"This is for you!" I said to my daughter.
Then I turned to Keqing and put a glass in front of her.
"And this is for you, my wife!" I purred.
"And for me?" Raphtalia asked.
"Raphtalia, I don't think you'll want to drink this milk!" I told her, at first she didn't understand, but then she seemed to understand and blushed deeply.
Keqing just smirked, and our daughter was too absorbed in her pancakes and glass of milk to notice the world around her.
"Honey, but I'm still curious, what is this holiday "Maslenitsa" for?" my wife asked, while I was watching our daughter eat sweetly.
Her question made me think about the answer.
"Honestly? I don't know myself! Well, I think in ancient times, this holiday was needed to appease the god of fertility, honestly I don't know which one, the Slavs had many pagan gods! But in my time, we celebrate this holiday by eating pancakes!"
"Oh, and even earlier, people would build a giant effigy out of hay and set it on fire! According to legend, this had to be done at the end of Maslenitsa week, which meant seeing off winter!"
I noticed how Keqing and my daughter's eyes lit up!
"No, we won't set fire to any effigy!" I told her, to which she pouted and continued eating her pancakes.
"What a strange holiday!" my wife said.
"Perhaps, but every myth has its truth!" I answered her with a smile.
"Okay, now… Who wants to go and visit Yae Miko?" I asked my household.
"Is it necessary?" Raphtalia asked pitifully, since the fox was teasing her, and the bake-danuki wouldn't leave her alone.
"Yes! I want to play with Aunt Miko and see Makoto!" our daughter shouted.
"I wouldn't mind seeing them too!" My wife said.
I smiled at them and looked at my family again.
I leaned towards my wife's ear and whispered.
"Do you think our daughter and Makoto could be together in the future!"
My wife smiled and answered me.
"Yae was suggesting that they get engaged until Ei came and pulled her by the ear and told her not to interfere with the girls' attitude!" I couldn't help but laugh at Raiden Ei, who could always curb the mischief of this pink-haired fox.
"Okay, I'll make some more pancakes now and we can go!" I said and started making pancakes for Raiden Ei, Yae Miko and their daughter Makoto.
Happy Shrovetide everyone!
