Rin Replaced (BL)

Chapter 33: Solo Mission

Rin

After all the blood tests and psychological tests were done, Anon sent me back to Parker's. I understand why Anon reacted the way he did, but I feel like he was waiting for a reason to fire me. Anon explained that it had to do with my mental instability. I guess it was too much to hear I was an assassin. The worst part is I didn't even get to talk to Jay. I wanted to explain things to him myself, but Anon wouldn't let me near him. I don't know if I made the right choice. All I know is that I can't let my search for information stop here. I'm allowed to leave the house. I can't leave Dalmane City. I guess that means they still have some amount of trust in me. Or just the fact that they can find me no matter where I am.

"All settled in?" Parker asks as he switches off the TV.

"Yeah, I didn't take much with me to begin with. I'm sorry to be bothering you so soon after I left." I say.

"No, I am glad you're back. It was hella boring here without you. Let's have burgers and beer for dinner. We can play the new game I bought. What do you say?" Parker says as he holds up the new game.

I can tell he is trying to cheer me up, but I don't really feel the need. Oddly enough, I feel fine. I guess I don't feel as much pressure here. When I was at the palace, it felt like I needed to be on guard at all times, but here I don't.

"Sure, let's do it," I say with a smile. I hope I can relax a little.

"Haha! Man, you suck at video games! What? Have you never played video games in your past life?" Parker snorts after beating me for the 10th time.

"No, actually. I never had the time. I was too busy working and training." I huff as I chug my beer.

Parker and I have been up all night talking and drinking. I explained so much to him that I feel like he knows everything now.

"Man, I can beat the shit out of people, no problem, but I can't even think about killing someone. I'm surprised you turned out halfway decent with the parents you had. Honestly, I wasn't too sure about your whole "from another world" story, but it makes sense the more I get to know you. Rin and I were basically brothers. I don't see him in you at all. It's so weird, but I know you aren't him. Do you really think you can find a way to bring Rin back?" Parker's tone turns somber.

"I wish I could say with certainty, but I can promise I will try anything and everything to bring him back. I am happy to be alive, but I don't want to be if it means taking Rin's life. I won't be the reason someone dies ever again." I declare.

I was forced to be an assassin, but I won't be that person here.

The following day, I woke up early and cleaned up the mess from the night before. I won't be a burden to Parker; I can at least keep the place clean. I decided to make breakfast for Parker as well. Eggs, bacon, home fries, and toast. It's nothing fancy, but it will help with the hangover.

"Mornin'. Did you make breakfast? Wait, did you clean up too? You didn't have to do that." Parker says as he struts into the kitchen in nothing but basketball shorts.

Damn, he has a nice body. I know I saw it when we fought, but now I can get a good look. He has a six-pack, but it's not so toned that it looks like he used steroids. Sorry, Rin, but your cousin is hot.

"Ahem, I was hungry, so it's not like I did it just for you," I say, ignoring the fact that he was also talking about me cleaning up.

"Hey, do you know why Rin never got a driver's license?" I ask, changing the subject.

"Yeah, he hated driving. My dad tried to teach him a few times, but Rin was always too stressed out to do it. He gave up and vowed to use public transportation for the rest of his life. Haha! Rin is stubborn about the weirdest things." Parker smirked as he shoveled bacon into his mouth.

"Well, it's very inconvenient. I need to search for information about Rin and his past, but I can't get around easily without a car and a license." I say.

Parker laughs and finishes off his food.

"Well, I have to get to the gym. Why don't you stop by later, and we can train together? Now that you don't have a reason to hold back, I want to see what you're really made of." Parker says as he punches the air.

Weirdo.

"Yeah, sure, I'll swing by after I follow up on some leads," I say as I load up the dishes into the dishwasher.

Parker gets ready and leaves quickly. I take the opportunity to search the place for anything that might help me find anything on Rin. I found a photo album with all kinds of photos of Parker and Rin as kids. I noticed that Parker has his sonogram photos as well as baby shower photos and maternity photos with his mother and father. Rin only has pictures from a few months old. It's strange. Maybe they lost the photo album that had those photos? The more I look at Rin and Parker as kids, I notice they don't actually look that much alike. You would think they would look a little alike, considering their fathers were identical twins. They have the same hair color now, but Parker had blonde hair as a kid, not black. I wonder if Parker dyed his hair. The only thing they have in common is green eyes. Parker has freckles, and Rin doesn't. Hmm, that is strange. If their fathers weren't twins, I would brush it off. Maybe I should look into Rin's parents more. It's too bad I don't have access to Anon's files anymore. I guess I will have to find this out on my own. It looks like this will be my first solo mission in this world. I hope I'm not getting in over my head.
