Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Author Notes
Originally, the plan had been to take stock of something -- a list of how many boyfriends various female stars had.
But someone once said, "Perception is reality." And another said, "What you did doesn't matter; it's what others think you did that counts."
So, the truth about these matters wasn't important, and there wasn't really a need for a list after all.
However, I felt it necessary to explain why I chose Taylor Swift as one of the main characters. If you started writing in 2008, she was undoubtedly the best choice -- no argument there. (Please note, I'm coming from a novelist's perspective.)
Also, this story didn't just feature one female lead; it was more of a harem story. I originally planned for about six or seven main female characters, each with different careers.
Now, regarding Irina, Elizabeth, and Caroline, those were actually supporting characters. It doesn't mean that supporting characters wouldn't have interactions with the protagonist, but their screen time and story arcs were relatively short. There would still be "supporting characters" in the future (when I say supporting characters, I mean how much screen time they have and the length of their story arcs).
Why start writing from 2008? Because that year marked a significant change in the pop music scene. The older generation completely bowed out, and the new generation began to take over the stage, leading into a vibrant few years. I obviously aimed to write during those competitive years -- it was undeniable.
Now that we've mentioned time, we should discuss the timeline of the book. This story spanned from 2008 to 2016 over those eight years.
Similarly, the ending of the book had long been determined as well.
Additionally, I believe this book differs from others because all the details have been painstakingly crafted to mirror reality. Of course, some realities needed to give way to the story's progress.
And this approach had its costs -- namely a slower pace. Some plotlines only included a beginning and a development with no endings since, following the realistic timeline, some things just couldn't be wrapped up quickly.
This caused certain reading disruptions, lending the book a slightly chaotic and constipation-like feel.
This was an area I needed to improve upon, and I would aim to rectify this moving forward -- placing more emphasis on outcomes rather than getting caught up in prolonged developments. There would also be some plots that seemed a bit forced, primarily stemming from my commitment to "narrative."
Now, I just want to clarify: I'm not a genius; I'm just narrating my story.
So, in the following chapters, I would strive to alleviate these issues.
Finally, regarding the genre, I listened to quite a bit of electronic music. Given the times, electronic music had indeed seen a surge in the real world. However, the protagonist wasn't just a DJ grinding through; at the end of the day, a DJ was simply a different kind of celebrity.
