Chapter 4: Chapter 4: School Rules, 100,000 Points, Enemy or Ally?
"First of all, I would like to congratulate all of you for successfully entering this Advanced Development School. This school is different from others. There will be no class changes every year, so for the next three years, I will be your homeroom teacher, accompanying you as you learn and grow."
"Additionally, the freshman ceremony will be held in one hour at the gymnasium. Don't forget to attend. Before that, I will distribute documents containing the special rules of this school. Although these documents were already given during the initial orientation, I want to make sure everyone gets them, especially since this information is important in case anyone hasn't had the chance to read it."
In front of the class, Teacher Chabashira was handing out the documents while explaining.
These documents had indeed been handed out previously, and Rey had already glanced at them. The contents were mostly the same as what he had read earlier.
The main rules were: for three years, students are not allowed to leave campus unless under urgent circumstances. Additionally, all forms of communication with the outside world are prohibited without the school's permission. Even contacting family members is not allowed without approval.
Of course, there are plenty of facilities on campus to make student life more comfortable. There are karaoke rooms, a movie theater, cafes, clothing stores, and so on, essentially forming a small shopping district. This school is located in the heart of a large city and covers an area of more than 600,000 square meters.
However, there are fees to be paid for using these facilities.
This school also has a special points system, called the System. Every student is given points by the school.
"Now, I will distribute student IDs to you. With this card, you can access all the facilities on campus, as well as purchase items from the stores. This card functions like a credit card, and each time you use it, the points given by the school will be deducted."
"Because this card uses a point system, it's important to use your points wisely. At this school, there is no item that cannot be bought with points. Anything available on campus can be purchased using your points."
Rey received his student ID and entered the ID number printed on the card into the school's app on his phone. Afterward, he set a password to start using the card.
"It's very easy. Just scan the card at the machine or show it at the facility. You should be able to operate it without difficulty."
"For the points given, they will automatically be credited on the 1st of each month. Right now, each of you has been allocated 100,000 points."
"Please note, each point is worth 1 yen. I think there's no need for further explanation about this."
Upon hearing this announcement, the classroom became lively. 100,000 points? That's an enormous amount for high school students.
Even Rey himself found it hard to believe.
'100,000 points? Is this really the allowance for students?' Rey thought. 'Won't the school go bankrupt giving out that much money?'
'Is this fair?' he wondered again. 'Does the school really treat everyone equally?'
Suddenly, a feeling of suspicion started to grow in Rey. What if there's something deeper behind this?
Teacher Chabashira continued, seemingly confirming his thoughts.
"Surprised by the number of points given? This school evaluates students based on their abilities. Those of you who made it into this school have potential and value equal to the points you've been given. These points represent how the school evaluates you."
"Don't worry, feel free to use the points. However, keep in mind that after you graduate, all points will be taken back. Since these points cannot be converted into cash, saving them won't benefit you. Once the points are credited, you can use them however you like. If someone feels they don't need the points, you can transfer them to others."
"However, remember, don't intimidate others. The school is very sensitive about bullying issues."
While watching the confused students in the classroom, Teacher Chabashira added, "Anyone have questions? No? Well then, enjoy your time at this school."
"The freshman ceremony will start in one hour at the gymnasium. After that, you're free to do whatever you want."
With that, Teacher Chabashira left the classroom without saying much. The students, still confused, could only look at each other.
'It seems like they haven't processed the huge amount of points yet. Everyone is probably already imagining a better life ahead,' Rey thought. 'Or maybe they already feel something is off, but they're waiting for someone else to ask first?'
Rey stared at his phone, which now displayed a balance of 100,000 points. His eyes appeared vacant as his mind drifted to the ongoing conversation among his classmates.
'Ally or enemy? That's still unclear.'
