Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse

Leng Pan felt that she and her husband had gained a lot even before reaching their destination. Gaining a spiritual beast wasn't something simple. It was a big deal, especially when the beast is obviously a combat type.

Since it is also more than three times the size of a normal wolf and had a height of almost a meter and half, it could also act as her husband's mount.

Nobody knew when something like an animal mount would come in handy. Therefore, having the wolf was an advantage.

"What are you gonna call it?" Leng Pan squatted next to her husband and asked while looking at the ferocious looking wolf that was acting like a puppy as Lu Zhen petted it.

"How about we call him Shade. A protector from the shadows. It will protect you from afar. Even though you have it to me, I want it to be your guardian. Let it protect you, but it doesn't have to be seen all the time.

It just needs to show up when you need it. Mmm…I think that name fits it perfectly." Lu Zhen said while smoothing the fur on the wolf's neck.

Leng Pan had not expected that even though she had wanted the wolf to belong to her husband because she believed that he could control it, Lu Zhen had other plans.

Even though he accepted the wolf King as his spiritual beast, but it's duty became to protect her.

As it seemed, both of them just want what is best for the other person.

"Okay, Shade it is then." Leng Pan agreed to the name immediately and touched the wolf too.

"You heard that, right? Your name is Shade from now on. You will be our family, so don't worry about anything. Just make sure you become stronger and also be loyal to Lu Zhen.

He is your master so everything he tells you is what you must do. Otherwise, I will cut you into pieces, feed your flesh to sharks, and use your fur to make a winter coat." Leng Pan was instructing and giving warning to the wolf at the same time so that it knows what it had signed up for.

"Heheheee…" Lu Zhen found his wife's behavior of threatening the wolf amusing.

"You don't have to keep threatening it, I think when it decided to accept me as its master it had already become one of us.

A wolf may not have the same loyalty like a dog, but once we become its family, we become its pack.

And wolves are fiercely loyal to their pack members. So, I am sure that everything will be fine with Shade." Lu Zhen exhaled before standing up.

"You are right. But now we have to go. Should I put it away in the space or what should we do?" Leng Pan asked with concern because she was aware that the wolf couldn't keep up with the motorcycles they would be riding.

"I think your idea is not bad. The wolf won't expose you and will in fact protect you from danger if possible." Lu Zhen was always afraid that his wife would get into trouble someday and get hurt.

However, if he could give her the most advanced security then he would. But since in the apocalypse they must be even more careful, then having Shade as a layer of protection wasn't bad.

He knew that his wife was powerful and she would become even more so in the future. But he could never protect her enough.

"Then I will let it stay inside the space and give it a few crystal cores to eat. Unless it has to come out to fight, then it can lounge around the garden for now." Since they were going to be keeping the wolf, Leng Pan figured that it was better to start bonding and giving it crystal cores as treats.

"I am going to take you somewhere so that you can stay there while we travel. It might be a little dull since you will be there alone for a while but once we get to our destination I will let you know and you can come out." Leng Pan said to the wolf before.sending it to the space and putting a few crystal cores of different elements next to it.

Once that was done, Leng Pan also put the bodies of the wolves they had killed in the battle inside the warehouse in the space.

Leng Pan had noticed that the fur of the wolves was very thick and soft. She was sure that if it was processed and used in making coats or other types of clothes, it would be enviable.

She wasn't sure the condition of the meat but they could investigate once they were back home.

The wolves would stay in the warehouse because they will remain the same and not rot. Once back home, she could examine them and decide if their meat was edible or not.

"Okay, let's get back on the road now." Leng Pan said while dusting her hands.

They had been at that roadside gas station for almost two hours. The battle with the wolves had taken sometime because each wolf was stronger than regular ones.

Now they could resume their journey and see if they could get to their destination in another two hours.

"Baby, why don't we eat something first before setting off? That way we won't have to stop again for a meal." Lu Zhen suggested because he knew that the fight had taken a lot out if them. He didn't want Leng Pan to suffer.

"That's a good idea, let's eat something then." As Leng Pan agreed with her husband, she took out two camping seats from the space and packed meals from Lu Zhen's favorite restaurant.

The meals she had bought frantically from various restaurants before the apocalypse began were starting to come in handy.

Lu Zhen took his container with food that was still hot and marveled.
