Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse

After everything was safely stored away in the jade bangle, the two left the store through the same back door and circled the building to go back to where they had parked their motorcycles.

However, before getting to their bikes, they had a sense of danger that was quite pronounced.

Leng Pan felt the hair at the back of her head stand up and she was certain that something dangerous was close by.

But she didn't understand what was happening since they had been there for a while but hadn't sensed anything before. She wondered whether it was a newly arrived enemy.

Thinking of the things she had just put in her space, she hoped that no one had witnessed her actions.

If it was a space superpower, it would be quite easy to explain, but the issue with the space bangle wasn't something she wanted any outsiders to find out.

The two people drew out their weapons and took on a fighting stance. They stood back-to-back and waited to see who the enemy was.

They did not expect that after two minutes, a pack of wolves with red eyes would show up and emerge from the overgrown weeds and grass around the store.

Lu Zhen had thought that there might be some animals hiding in such long grass but obviously his imagination wasn't vivid enough.

He had thought that even if something was hiding there, it had to be snakes or porcupines.

He had certainly not anticipated wolves emerging from the tall grass and bushes. What was even more alarming was the fact that the wolves showed obvious signs of mutation.

Their red eyes and larger size compared to normal wolves was proof of that. Nevertheless, he didn't back down. He had a wife to protect next to him and if he had to fight these creatures with everything he got, he would do so even if it meant fighting with his life.

As Lu Zhen tried to shield his wife, the wolves finally emerged completely from the bushes. There were twelve wolves in total and one of them was bigger than the rest.

Many wolves are usually just slightly bigger than a dog, however, these ones were almost twice that size and the leader was nearly three times the normal size.

All the red pairs of eyes were trained on the couple and they could feel the aggression coming from them.

Before they could process why there was a pack of wolves there and why they were so different, the leader raised its head towards the sky and howled.

It was a howl that caused Leng Pan's blood to almost stop flowing. It was an experience she didn't know how to explain.

It almost felt as if the howl from that wolf had a kind of power in it. It was definitely no ordinary wolf.

When the other wolves heard the howl, they raised their heads and howled back collectively.

Even though it was loud, it didn't have the same effect as the leader.

"That wolf is unique." Leng Pan said while observing the wolves that were eyeing her and her husband like prey.

"Mmm…I can tell. Are you okay with a battle with them?" Lu Zhen asked because he didn't want his wife to be in danger but he could tell that a fight was inevitable.

"I am okay. This is a way to gain experience in fighting different entities. We cannot always train by killing zombies." Leng Pan reassured her husband.

She didn't care what battle she fought as long as it made her stronger and she got to fight alongside her husband.

While she was thinking this, the wolves suddenly launched themselves at them. Eleven wolves attacked them at the same time and attacked them with vigor.

Their mouths were wide open with jaws as strong as iron clamps. Leng Pan had no doubt that if that mouth managed to bite at them, then a part of the body would be gone.

The jaws of most of the wolves were aiming for their necks as if they had been instructed beforehand to finish them off.

The claws of the wolves weren't idle either as they swung with the strength of a thousand tonnes.

One swipe of that claw and one could literally say goodbye to their life.

Within a couple of minutes into the fight, the couple already realized that they were facing a formidable enemy and got serious.

Leng Pan tightened her hand around the hilt of her Tang sword and swung it with all the physical strength she could master.

Moreover, because she could tell that the wolves were too dangerous and meant business, she didn't hold back.

Two wolves that were at the front jumped high aiming to come down on the couple and sever their necks. Not to be outdone, both Leng Pan and Lu Zhen jumped as well to meet the enemy midair and their swords came down at the same time.

Leng Pan's sword landed squarely on the head of the wild trying to attack her and left a long and deep gash on it.

The wound was so long and so deep that the bone was visible.

Blood sprayed out of the wound and washed Leng Pan's face. However, she didn't stop there as she had no plans of giving the wolf the time to recover and attack again.

She followed the first attack with another one on the same spot while the wolf was still disoriented.

With more strength this time, the skull of the wild split open and it collapsed to the ground twitching.

After a few twitches, it stopped moving completely. It was dead.

However, Leng Pan didn't have time to admire her handiwork as another wolf came running towards her and tried to bite off her thigh.

With the same precision as before, she brought the sword down on the wolf while dodging its attack at the same time.

The sword went across its back eliciting a sharp howl from it.
