Chapter 180: Leng Pan's Worries
"I am not worried. Don't rush it if it's giving you a hard time and you don't have to lose sleep just to make them. Make sure you get enough rest." Leng Pan said to her young brother-in-law.
"Thank you sister-in-law. I don't find the work tiring. I enjoy playing with these things, so I will make sure I can complete them within two days." Lu Tao insisted and Leng Pan didn't try to persuade him again.
She turned to her mother-in-law and asked, "Mom, how are the body suits made with the material I gave you coming along?"
"Lu Zhen's piece will be ready by tomorrow morning. Then I'll start working on another one. With your aunt's help, we can make enough clothes for the winter before it arrives.
I also think we should make some for assistant Yao and his mother. What do you think, Panpan?" Li Yunjia replied to her daughter-in-law while still sewing.
She had almost become a pro at making clothes these past few weeks. She was making clothes of different designs for different purposes everyday.
Now, she didn't need to struggle to take measurements or cut cloth materials. She could sew by hand and machine without much struggle.
Auntie Li was the same as she helped her sister-in-law every day. Uncle Li on the other hand had become obsessed with creating new flavors of dishes whenever he could because of his unique superpower.
In fact, it seemed that all the members of the Lu family, to be precise, those with the Li family bloodline had awakened strange superpowers.
Except for Lu Zhen who had a fire ability, the rest were almost unheard of. Uncle Li's was the weirdest as it didn't make sense for someone to awaken a superpower just to make food taste better.
What was that for, to help those going to battle have a better appetite? Then there was Li Yunjia who seemed to be able to literally travel to the future and experience the next expected disaster.
Even though this superpower had not been verified yet since the extreme cold had yet to arrive, it was still weird.
Lu Tao didn't seem all that weird but having the ability to eavesdrop on other people doing unspeakable things didn't seem to be very glorious either.
However, these superpowers still made the lives of everyone a little easier. Uncle Li's cooking could comfort those in a bad mood just by eating his dishes.
Li Yunjia also helped them prepare better for the next disaster and Lu Tao was even more indispensable.
Leng Pan looked at everyone in the living room and felt overjoyed. Even though her own family was gone, she had found another family that loves her just as much.
It was a blessing other people could not get even if they prayed for their whole lives.
Leng Pan smiled and finally replied to her mother-in-law, "I think you have a point, Mom. Assistant Yao and auntie Yao are part of our team now and we shouldn't let them suffer.
It is okay to share what we have with them."
When the elders heard this, they were happy because they had found a generous and compassionate daughter-in-law.
However, at the same time, Leng Pan became a little sad. Even though they could save themselves, they couldn't do the same to everyone else.
Moreover, since there wasn't any internet connection, they couldn't share information with others.
Now that they knew that the winter was going to be extremely cold, they were aware that many people would die from the cold.
If the climate changed instantly without any warning, then even more people might freeze to death before they could take action and dress warmly or heat their houses.
It would be even more heartbreaking if the change happened at night when people were asleep.
That was almost a guarantee that many survivors would freeze to death in their sleep. Leng Pan wished she had a way to change such a situation.
But the only way to do this was to communicate with others. The problem was the communication method.
"Baby, why do you look so troubled?" Lu Zhen asked when he saw his wife looking somewhat distressed.
"I was thinking about what will happen if the extreme cold hits suddenly. Especially if it's at night and people don't have the time to take action and change their clothes.
Many will freeze to death. If in every disaster something similar happens, then before long the entire world will be left with nothing but zombies." Leng Pan felt like she was venting her frustrations.
But saying everything out loud instead of worrying unnecessarily felt better.
"Your worries aren't unfounded. But for some reason, it seems that the apocalypse was designed for the situation you just mentioned.
For every disaster that takes place, more people will die while in between the start of the disaster, others will turn into zombies.
The remaining population of humans is already very small. I assume that at least ninety percent of the human population had already turned into zombies.
If in every disaster another one percent dies, then it won't take more than ten years before all life is wiped out of the earth.
Do you think this is a coincidence? I don't think so. And the reason it was designed to take most of the population with the first attack was so that people won't have the chance or the courage to fight back.
If only ten percent of the population had turned into zombies with the first wave, I am guessing that more people would be going out to kill zombies so that they could make sure that they eliminate every last zombie on earth.
However, having a population of zombies that outnumber the humans tenfold makes those still alive afraid to take action for fear of ending up the same.
In this way, every other disaster will weaken the strength of the human race and bring it closer to extinction.
