Chapter 94: Forced Hand
Unlike San Cha Mountain's conspicuous shape, Mae Da Mountain adhered to the conventional shape known to mankind as it stood tall among other shorter hills. While boasting a wide range of flora and fauna, including several valuable gu worms, it was managed by the currently turbulent Jia Clan. The Jia Clan controlled all three spirit springs within the mountain, experiencing a period of unprecedented prosperity compared to other clans formed in the recent century. The Clan's founder, a Legendary figure boasting Rank 5 cultivation, passed away in his sleep early in the year, leaving his descendants to vie for his inheritance and wealth.
Initially, the Jia Clan Leader's wealth would have been divided between his sons based on the results of the caravan's trade. Starting as a trader, Jia Clan's Leader valued the skills needed to maintain steady profits. The position of the Clan Leader would have belonged to the victor. Everything should have gone according to the plan.
Yet, as they say, man proposes, and heaven disposes.
The Jia Clan Leader held his first two sons to high standards. They possessed remarkable talents and were blessed with the gift of trade. Their social skills and charm allowed them to garner well-reputed factions around them as they competed with much-welcomed civility. The Jia Clan Leader's third son, however, was a different story.
Unlike the first son, Jia Fu, and the second son, Jia Gui, Jia Jin Sheng was pampered by his mother. His lack of cultivation talent further made the Clan Leader and his wife feel guilty at their inability to assist their son.
Locating a gu worm that could increase one's talent was easier said than done. It was a rarity even amongst the mortal 'side' of the Super Clans!
However, time waited for no man. The Jia Clan Leader was clearly at the end of his ropes. So, he devised a plan to divide his wealth.
His gu worms and position aside, the Jia Clan Leader needed to test his children. So, he placed his third son alongside Jia Fu. He had deep intentions with this act. Jia Jin Sheng did not have the necessary talent to succeed in cultivation and lacked the disposition to make it as a merchant. However, the Old Clan Leader wanted safety for his young son. He wanted Jia Jin Sheng to open his eyes and realize the difference between him and his brothers before pursuing a life of peace. After all, Jia Fu and Jia Gui would help Jia Jin Sheng live such a life should he abandon his wild ambitions. Meanwhile, the Old Clan Leader also wanted to test his Eldest Son to see if he was overbearing with his Third Brother. How could the Old Clan Leader appoint Jia Fu as his successor if he wasn't compassionate to his people?
Unfortunately, Jia Jin Sheng went missing in Gu Yue Village and was presumed dead.
To call the Old Clan Leader disappointed would be an understatement. He was heartbroken. Yet, he did not blame Jia Fu for his Third Brother's murder—only his negligence.
Were money and power so necessary that one couldn't even show compassion for their blood?
Did power and wealth corrupt the Old Clan Leader?
No.
Even if Jia Fu tried clearing his name by inviting the Divine Investigator, the Old Clan Leader could not trust his Eldest Son's heart. When he placed his hopes on his second son, the Old Clan Leader set himself up for another failure as Jia Gui revealed the first ugly competition by publicly blaming Jia Fu for Jia Jin Sheng's death. Their brother died. Their father was soon going to reunite with their third brother. And all those two could think was to point fingers and enter a bitter race to acquire other Elders' support.
Despite his cultivation and achievements, the Old Clan Leader felt like a failure. He wouldn't have felt such had he been healthy. But lying on the deathbed did wonders for his perspective. He felt aggrieved and disappointed. The family he nurtured with much love and attention were mere spawns of greed and deception, hungry for their family's blood and wealth!
So, the Old Clan Leader never appointed any successor. How could he commit another sin before his death? His wife had already passed many moons ago. The Old Clan Leader felt nothing at his death or possessions as he closed his eyes on one peculiar night and never opened them again in the coming morning.
His demise led to a hike in conflicts between the two factions vying for the Jia Clan's throne. With such ire against each other, everyone within the clan knew only one of the Old Clan Leader's blood would live to see and guide the clan into the next era of prosperity.
However, not everyone wanted each other's blood. To maintain the support of the neutral faction lest the clan shatters into itself, the two brothers devised a 'peaceful' way to resolve the situation by setting up a competition where they could invite experts from outside the clan. It would be an actual test of the two competitor's social skills and connections.
The Jia Clan competition accrued immense attention despite the Three King's Inheritance. Whatever expert didn't participate in San Cha Mountain's struggles rode for Mae Da Mountain, tossing their hats into the competition for the sheer rewards appointed for winners in every match!
Even several lone Rank 5 Gu Masters with lower fame and reputation felt moved by the rewards. After all, the Old Jia Clan Leader was WEALTHY! The Jia Clan's coffers were nothing to scoff at!
Old Clan Leader experienced several fortuitous encounters, establishing a reputable might and several means to defend against external threats. It wasn't uncommon. Didn't First Gen Gu Yue Ancestor leave Rank 5 Blood Guillotine for Gu Yue Clan's survival? Didn't the Xiong Clan possess a Rank 5 Gu Worm capable of hiding them from the Wolf Tide? So, the Jia Clan managed to repel those with insidious intents and welcomed valued competitors. Among these courageous competitors was an aged Gu Master pulsating with Rank 5 aura sporting long, faded green hair and thick facial hair. He wore a fitting tanned robe, leaving his fit body little to the imagination as this Gu Master presented an image of strength and experience.
With his hands behind his back, the unnamed Rank 5 Gu Master stood beside a window, gazing at the massive clearing experiencing an arena's construction overlooked by two Jia Clan Elders. The competition would be held outside the clan's primary settlement for safety concerns. However, it wasn't a hassle since Jia Clan actively controlled a good chunk of the mountain and regulated its fauna. Their situation was several times better than what Qing Mao Mountain faced during the Wolf Tides.
After a few minutes, the unnamed Gu Master returned to the mattress, choosing to cultivate. As he settled, the Gu Master shifted his view within his aperture.
A beautiful sight greeted his vision. Liquid purple crystal shimmered and reflected a divine glow in the space surrounded by thin, light walls, indicating the cultivation of the Rank 5 initial stage. The Gu Master's aperture was almost filled to the brim, boasting a shocking 98% capacity! Several Gu Worms rested and swam within.
Rank 4: Water Drift, Peng Wings, Forward, Backward, and Waterfall Crash!
Rank 5 Gu Worms are extraordinarily rare. Many Rank 5 Gu Masters consider themselves lucky to possess a single Gu Worm of their rank! However, this unnamed water path Gu Master acquired two Rank 5 Gu Worms.
Rank 5 Surging River.
Rank 5 Convert Time.
The Old Man enjoyed hours of cultivation until a soft knock roused him.
"Lord Desolate? Elder Jia Fu wished to meet you."
"Hmm."
Desolate opened his eyes, revealing a sharp light flashing through them.

"Tell me more," Lo Jik communicated, keen on learning further. Being a wisdom path master, despite necessary Gu Worms, allowed him to smell a massive opportunity from 'Er Hu.' Who better to question other than Chen Jiu, who has had relations with Immortals and once claimed to have a footing in the Shang Clan's networks? He rested on a rock under the dawn sky, arms crossed under his head as if indifferent to his surroundings.
"Hmm," a haunting whisper agreed. "Enchanting Path has always been unorthodox with little knowledge. Though, I will say that the ancient enchantment methods were efficient. Alluring Minx Set allowed Gu Masters to attract the opposite gender, but it focused on being 'alluring,' not 'inviting.' This path has always been a double-edged sword. Even my Divine Beauty Set wasn't without faults. The Enchantment Path masters can just as quickly lose themselves in another's taint as they taint others."
"So, you're easy?" Lo Jik smirked. "Couldn't have guessed that."
"Leave the sarcasm in your nut sack, Unchained," the voice scoffed. "Any capable enchantment path Gu Master knows how to control these urges. Ehm. Where was I? Yes. The Alluring Minx Set's details. One only retains their alluring trait by being 'pure.' Being a sub-path under the Wisdom Path, one's purity has more than physical implications. Any female Gu Master can recover her 'virginity' using an appropriate healing Gu Worm. However, the memory of intimacy and the sensation of lust on one's soul isn't so effortlessly cleansed. That vixen either has relative Gu for this issue or she could be the kind to enjoy occasional moments of intimacy instead of being the kind to parade herself to everyone's room."
The voice giggled.
"You must be feeling relieved your dear 'Er Hu' isn't an outright slut, right?"
"Ha!" Lo Jik snorted a chuckle. "Being a slut has nothing to do with how many times you sleep around. As you said, any woman can recover her purity. Sigh, Senior. You cannot appreciate nymphs as much as I do. Our dear 'Er Hu' is a nymph incarnate. She's just pretending to be one, not realizing she was always the kind."
Chen Jiu snorted, continuing. "Your mindless philosophies and appreciation for sluts aside, enchanting others is only a part of this path. Since it follows Wisdom Path's creed, the basic use of one's looks is to manipulate others for their goals, achieving one's objectives without lifting a finger."
"Your luck is good. The Three King's Inheritance will attract many reputable names. It will be the best chance to muddy the waters and escape after tying loose ends."
It still wasn't 5 a.m., so Chen Jiu enjoyed her 'freedom' at Lo Jik's permit. After a few moments, Chen Jiu added, "I once had the opportunity to encounter Shang Clan's Enchantment Path Supreme Elder. Hmph. I say opportunity. But you can understand all he was intrigued by was my past and finding the method that allowed me to walk Rule and Enchantment Paths. He was also the only male enchantment Gu Master I ever witnessed. Still, I managed to learn a few things from him."
"As is with the Transformation Path, where a Gu Master can injure themselves by transforming using gender-specific Gu Worms—for instance, your Little Giant King Gu, Enchantment Path also has its subtleties."
"Where a female Gu Master chooses to capitalize on their exterior, a male Gu Master relies on evoking their target's emotions. One of the most well-known examples would be saving a damsel in distress before using Gu Worms like the Honest Charm Gu or Fickle Passion Gu to worm one's way into the damsel's heart."
"What else did this Supreme Elder teach you?"
"Nothing much," Chen Jiu replied casually. "But he did make some progress. Remember Shang Bu Li?"
"Of course," Lo Jik replied. Shang Bu Li was Yan Fei's top general and one of Shang Clan's most crucial subjects, handling the most profitable business—Slave Trading. He also walked Ice and Fire Path, somehow balancing the opposite elements and revealing an unearthly destructiveness.
"The Supreme Elder spent years referencing old inheritances before balancing the Fire and Ice Path. Of course, his research was limited to the mortal ranks. Shang Bu Li will have to rely on that Supreme Elder if he ever reaches the peak of mortal cultivation to ascend."
"How comforting. Seeing Shang Clan's prosperity must bring joyous tears to your eyes," Lo Jik quipped.
"That's what those assholes hoped, using all those righteous reasons to 'guide' me." She scoffed.
"Remember," Chen Jiu warned. "Maintain your mental focus around that woman. Use your Brave Will Gu Worm. Although it's only Rank 3, it shares origins with strength and wisdom path and has an admirable synergy with your set."
"Don't worry," Lo Jik hummed as he closed his eyes. "I've got it sorted. Now, if you have something on the Wu Clan—that would be mighty helpful."
"I'm as confused as you on their matter. Why would they target you?"
Lo Jik opened his eyes to gaze at San Cha Mountain's peak.
"The 'Why' doesn't matter since we already killed two of their Elders."

Lo Jik counted another addition of a million primeval stones before glancing at the calm Bai Ning Bing. They had formed a deal for the Rank 5 Frost Profound Zombie Gu recipe alongside the Rank 4 Yin-Yang Rotation Gu. Bai Ning Bing needed the Yang Rotation Gu to overturn his planned zombification once he discovered a way to deal with her Extreme Physique. Meanwhile, he needed the Yin Rotation Gu to recover his female body after the fact. He also needed someone to refine the Rank 5 Frost Profound Zombie after reaching Rank 5.
The total amount they settled on was two million primeval stones.
The million Bai Ning Bing handed Lo Jik was almost all his savings since they entered the Shang Clan. It had to be understood that unlike Lo Jik, who spent virtually all his savings to use the primeval stones with the Heavenly Treasure Lotus for his cultivation, Bai Ning Bing managed to save and earn a lot more since his expenditure on Gu Worms ended after he established his set.
"What do you want first?" Lo Jik calmly inquired. He and Bai Ning Bing cultivated an incredible rapport. Still, despite the low possibility, he wouldn't care if the latter decided to leave after finalizing the deal. Adding Injuries Go Away Gu and Multiply Gu promoted the Self-Reliance Gu Worm's healing astonishingly, removing the need for Yin-Yang Rotation Gu that reduced his aptitude.
Unlike Bai Ning Bing, who would recover his aptitude due to his Extreme Physique, Lo Jik didn't have much use for the Rank 4 life-saving trump card after possessing Rank 5 Life-Death Rotation Gu. Rank 5 Life Rotation Gu had the same healing effects as the Yin-Yang Rotation Gu without its side effects. Rank 5 Death Rotation Gu was also a massive trump card, capable of instantly killing a Rank 5 Gu Master!
Bai Ning Bing momentarily pondered before demanding, "Yin-Yang Rotation Gu. Consider our past experiences. I know I'm 500000 primeval stones short, but I'll pay you eventually. However, that Gu Worm is too crucial."
He narrowed his eyes, adding before Lo Jik could speak. "And don't speak that nonsense of not refining the complete set. You would have never left Shang Clan without it."
Lo Jik chuckled. "You're so overbearing after becoming a man, Ning Bing."
Bai Ning Bing narrowed his eyes. "What's with that look? I'm telling you now! We can fuck if you want. But I have a dick for a short while and refuse to be the bottom. Yes, I studied the subject in Shang Clan more and learned a few things."
Lo Jik deadpanned, refusing to grace those slovenly adjusted words with a rebuttal—
"Fuck off. I fuck you. That's how it would go."
Bai Ning Bing's eyes glinted. "For 500000 stones, sure."
"You couldn't make me fuck you as a man with 500 million stones," Lo Jik snorted as Bai Ning Bing realized his issue once again.
As a man or a woman, Bai Ning Bing was rizzless.
His expression turned heavy.
"I need that Rank 4 Gu Worm. I would have attacked anyone else. However, I'm giving you a chance to avoid such a fate."
"That's an admirable negotiation tactic to use against someone who always won," Lo Jik sneered before pointing at Bai Ning Bing as two lights—white and black—entered the latter's body. Bai Ning Bing blinked in shock, unable to contain his thoughts from his features as he glanced at Lo Jik.
Bai Ning Bing never believed Lo Jik would actually give her the Yin-Yang Rotation Gu without appropriate remuneration!
So, the white-haired Frost Devil shuddered as the Little Giant King looped his arm around the former's neck before hotly whispering in his ear.
"How about you help me fuck the Wu Clan in the ass?"
Lo Jik whispered some dangerous information in Bai Ning Bing's ears as the latter grew shell-shocked and felt speechless. Yet, he also felt his body numb, with Lo Jik cozily breathing into his ear.
Be it his breath, plans, or the possible gains—all of it was enticing to Bai Ning Bing.
So, Lo Jik grew quiet once he saw something poke against Bai Ning Bing's trousers.
The astonishing bastard suddenly blinked before grinning at Lo Jik. "Why don't I use the Yin Rotation Gu on you and take you as my woman?"
Lo Jik stalled.
For once, he felt speechless.
Did this asshole consider no orientation sacred?!
"No. I'm happy with my genitals."
Bai Ning Bing persisted, suddenly becoming the epitome of many women's imagination as he cornered Lo Jik with a palm pressed on the rock. "How can you be certain without trying what I have to offer?"
*Bang*
A knee lodged into Bai Ning Bing's crotch.
"And that's called a nut shot," Lo Jik scoffed as the latter's expression cramped.
"That was a low blow!" Bai Ning Bing scowled.
"As low as your skills in seducing men."
They stopped after sensing Er Hu stirring awake.
<<<>>>
"Hu Mei Er! Get out, you slut!"
A roar interrupted the trio's meal as Er Hu's expression stiffened before she hurriedly glanced at the frowning Lo Jik. She clenched the bowl as Bai Ning Bing narrowed his eyes.
"Hu Mei Er?" the youth whispered while gazing at Er Hu. "That name sounds familiar."
Er Hu gritted her teeth before meeting Lo Jik's quiet look with a sad gaze.
"I'm sorry, Brother Lo Jik." She suddenly stood and exited the cave, leaving Lo Jik and Bai Ning Bing to follow her.
Outside, the duo observed 'Er Hu' stand against a Rank 4 Middle Stage Gu Master, like Heng Mei from before. However, this man looked elegant, wearing his sleek brown hair in a topknot, a cleanly shaved face, and a thin physique garbed in scholarly robes. The man furiously pointed at Er Hu, snarling.
"Did you believe I wouldn't know about your deception?" His eyes were wide as an ox, red and baleful. "I used my Gu Worm to track you down. Brothers!" The scholarly Gu Master looked at Lo Jik and Bai Ning Bing. "I'm Lu Tian, a humble lone Gu Master. That woman is—"
"Shut up!" Er Hu shouted with a cold expression, causing Lu Tian to chuckle gloomily.
"Why should I shut up?" His loud voice and momentum attracted another wave of attention as many Gu Masters gathered in the shadows to watch the entertaining show.
"You seduced and robbed me," Lu Tian hissed. "You were arrogant, Hu Mei Er. Your charms could not permanently affect me. I know about you two—Little Giant King, Frost Devil. Stay clear of this slut. Hahaha! She has no virtue! She would sleep with a dying dog for his fur!"
Hu's body shuddered, and she clenched her fists. A cold glint flashed in her eyes.
"I slept with you?" She snorted. "Hehe. I seduced you?" A stream of pink fog suddenly emerges from her wrists, coiling around her like a thick cocoon as a sultry voice cooed from within.
"You overestimate your ability to lie, Lu Tian!" A tender arm emerged from the pink fog as a seductive beauty boasting a carpet of pink hair and gem-like green eyes stepped out with a ravishing outfit on her succulent form and a golden headdress on her forehead. Her anklets and bangles jingled as the woman flipped her hair.
"You barely lasted a few seconds." Her cold yet arousing voice spread past the clearing. "And I would rather sleep with a dying dog than you—for free."
Lu Tian's sneer stiffened before veins popped on his forehead.
"I loved you!" Lu Tian roared. "I showered you with affection—"
For some reason, Lu Tian grew more agitated when he saw Hu Mei Er's true form. She was a beautiful woman. Her existence made many men, except the calm Bai Ning Bing, feel something constricting their trousers. However, Lu Tian was a particular case. All his anger fizzled, and he spoke in a reproachful tone, demonstrating how he lavished the woman with all he had.
*Swish*
Hu Mei Er's pupils shrunk as she felt a grave danger building in her heart. However, she had been observing Lo Jik since revealing her form. This was the crucial point in understanding how things would play out. So, watching Lo Jik's phantom bow forming a crackling lightning arrow with a heavy pointed edge seemingly fashioned out of a purplish elephant tusk shook her as it zapped with startling speed and power before—
*Puchi*
—stabbing into an agitated and defenseless Lu Tian's head. Shocking every viewer, the arrow's force destroyed the head as a sonic boom echoed before the arrow continued to destroy several trees, leaving a massive crater in the ground.
"So fucking loud," Lo Jik's calm voice echoed as he casually stepped past the dumbfounded Hu Mei Er before searching Lu Tian's body. Under everyone's terrified expressions, Lo Jik expertly stripped everything of value from his victim before snatching the Gu Worms.
He got up and looked around before staring at Hu Mei Er.
"So, you're Lin San Chi and Li Xian's whore?" Lo Jik crossed his arms, bluntly observing Hu Mei Er. His crass words surprised every viewer since many knew about the devilish woman.
"Brother Lo Jik. It's not like that—"
"Wait," Lo Jik laughed. "I also heard you were Mo Wu Tian's bitch. Do they share you?"
Mo Wu Tian's mention turned many faces serious.
Even Bai Ning Bing had heard of this name.
Mo Wu Tian was the current generation's rising star in the Demonic Faction. Unlike other Lone Gu Masters, he killed indiscriminately. His fearsome reputation had spread throughout the Southern Border!
"Please, let me explain," Hu Mei Er adopted a frown and spoke softly while Lo Jik approached her. Her defensive Gu Worms were ready. She stood her ground as Lo Jik narrowed his eyes.
"Which is it?" He questioned. "Mo Wu Tian and Lin San Chi are proud men. They would never be involved with a woman of your reputation. Ignoring other Demonic Gu Masters, it must be Li Xian, right?" He grinned with an overbearing tone. "Li Xian would sell his mother for money, much less a slut. Did I get it right?"
Hu Mei Er's eyes widened with fury.
"You don't know what you are talking about, Little Giant King!" a pink light flashed in her eyes. "Learn some manners. I'm someone that can make your life very difficult!"
"How scary," Lo Jik laughed. "Where was that bravado yesterday? Say—" He leaned down, meeting Hu Mei Er's gaze. "Did you truly believe a whore could tame me?"
Lo Jik knew well about Hu Mei Er's 'innocence.' So, he also understood the term 'whore' was a sore spot for a woman as proud of her skills as Hu Mei Er.
"Very good," Hu Mei Er seethed. "This is San Cha Mountain, Little Giant King! Are you willing to offend me? You killed Lu Tian. Lu Tian has a sworn brother to an Elder in the Wu Clan. Do you think you can take on Wu Clan's might?"
"Offending you? The Wu Clan?" Lo Jik laughed as if he had heard the greatest joke. He reached out to tenderly stroke the unmoved Hu Mei Er's face with the back of his palm.
"A pity," he sighed. "You must have known about me. I would have fucked up the likes of Li Xian, Lin San Chi, and Mo Wu Tian had you been honest. Hehehe! Hahaha! I know!"
Lo Jik moved past her before grinning at the indifferent Bai Ning Bing.
"I'm going to eradicate every Wu Clansman in San Cha Mountain. Oh, Hu Mei Er! I would have made you mine. But you offended me."
He turned, pinning Hu Mei Er with a chilling gaze. "I'll look for you after killing every Wu Clansman. How dare you try preying on me? I'll shatter everyone around you. Just leaving you with a whore's fate is too pitiful. Hehehe! You're a demoness, right? A demon is free! I'll tear those chains and shackles around you!"
His declaration shocked everyone. They couldn't help but feel a faint pressure on their hearts when they met Lo Jik's gaze. He must have some reliance to tackle the Wu Clan.
Even Hu Mei Er looked dazed.
What?
Bai Ning Bing narrowed his eyes.
'Lo Jik needed a good excuse to pick a fight with Wu Clan without revealing their prior ambush. To admit being ambushed would have been the same as asking for more underhanded tricks, for all the Wu Clan knows, their members died to an unnamed Gu Master or beast. And we also required a scapegoat. The Wu Clan would also pay attention to Hu Mei Er because of Lo Jik's current declaration. It was as if Hu Mei Er forced the Little Giant King's hand by hurting his ego. Poor them. This asshole has no ego!'
'His boastful claims also make sense because he has the Rank 5 Thousand Li Earthwolf Spider. He can pick a fight with Wu Clan before escaping. It's public knowledge alongside his acquisition of Essence Cloud Elephant King. And there's also the Blood Flood Python. There aren't many who can stop Lo Jik's escape.'
Meanwhile, Lo Jik suddenly snapped his fingers.
"Come on. There's Wu Shen Tong near the peak, right?"
His voice shook Hu Mei Er.
Was he serious?
As if aware of her thoughts, Lo Jik sneered at her.
"You probably never met a man capable of giving two shits about whores. Heh. You're pitiful, Hu Mei Er."
