Chapter 120: Beginning Of The End

Two Days Later.

Disguised as Fang Zheng, Lu Zuan Feng marveled at the sight of the Rank 5 Heavenly Aperture Transformation's current state. The exceptionally rare Wood Path Gu Worm possessed the mouth-watering ability to heal the damage on one's aperture! A Gu Master's lifeline was their Aperture—their source of cultivation.

What better were the Gu Masters compared to mortals without their Apertures? An argument could be centered around the Gu Masters who used Body Refinement Gu Worms to strengthen themselves. However, they were still subpar and nothing more than meat on a chopping board compared to other Gu Masters.

So, the most effective way to cripple a Gu Master was by destroying their apertures. However, such methods were perhaps rarer. Accurately striking a Gu Master's Aperture during motion was almost impossible since the Aperture was no smaller than a dot on a piece of paper. It was a mystical 'organ' within the body containing several secrets related to cultivation. Ironically, one of the most common ways to injure an Aperture was when a Gu Master transformed into something else more extended than their tolerable time limit.

Fang Zheng was such a case, albeit an involuntary one. It was practically Heaven's blessing that Fang Zheng survived the ordeal and transformed into a Mutated Tree Spirit, one of its kind. Lu Zuan Feng wondered how utilizing the Primeval Essence in one's surroundings felt. Fang Zheng even attracted Wood Path Gu on his body on odd days!

Nonetheless, he did not envy Fang Zheng's 'ability' one bit, given the cost…

—Until now.

'Will Fang Zheng maintain the ability to recover the Primeval Essence from his surroundings? Wouldn't that be too much of a cheat?'

The Divine Thief worked his jaw, momentarily entering into another stream of thought that eluded the denizens of the Gu World. After all, his origins were dubious.

'What even is Primeval Essence? Something made of water? Phantom? I'm a Phantom Path Gu Master, and Master says that our Aperture shares some connection with the Phantom Path… but he never answered anything about the Primeval Essence.'

'Theoretically speaking, the Primeval Essence is an elixir that miraculously works on every Gu Worm save for the ones with unique activation conditions.'

'Doesn't it imply that most Gu Worms are hardwired to accept the Primeval Essence? If so… how the fuck did Ren Zu just use all those Gu Worms before he awakened his Aperture? Maybe he already did awaken it? He got the Hope Gu, right? He also had several hearts… yeah, I shouldn't try understanding Ren Zu with common sense. Then what about his children? They never had the Hope Gu or awakened their Apertures.'

Lu Zuan Feng suddenly theorized something troubling.

'For some reason, the Essence, the most fundamental aspect of our Cultivation, is also the most mysterious! How did I never think about it before—'

A gentle sound distracted Lu Zuan Feng from his thoughts, and he looked up.

The state of the room had experienced a drastic shift. The roots and the branches wrapped the length into a massive cocoon, layered like coiling vines as leaves slipped through the crevices, long bent and out of their shapes.

The dried roots began to shift, tightening their hold as they slithered like relentless serpents. The leaves bent inwards, intentionally entering the vice-like grip as they dried and broke into several pieces, all consumed within the layered cocoon.

A gentle golden glow escaped the thin gaps, creating dozens of rays of light similar to a laser show, followed by a sweet, drunken scent. Lu Zuan Feng narrowed his eyes and stepped back, already aware of the traps involved within the Heavenly Aperture Transformation Gu. The Gu Worm restored another's Aperture but also saw fit to include a sense of security by sending any nearby lifeform into a daze. Even though impressive, these measures were rudimentary in a Gu Master's eyes.

"Hnn–"

A gentle moan echoed from within the cocoon, which condensed and wrapped tighter. Still, the gaps only widened somehow, allowing more light to escape!

The slight scent deepened, saturating the room with a non-existent nectar's sweet lull.

"Aghhh–"

The pained moan grew louder, and the stuffed echo cleared and ruptured into a shrill scream as the cocoon shuddered.

Lu Zuan Feng couldn't see anything, as the golden glow was too intense and blinding!

However, he knew what was happening.

The roots, leaves, trunks, and bark pierced Fang Zheng's body, physically drilling into one spot as the space warped their forms into condensing spirals the size of a dot!

Fang Zheng felt pain.

It was tremendous like someone had stripped the bark off his face and stabbed him in the face with it before tearing his ears away and jamming them within his eyesockets!

Too much!

"AAGHHHHHHH!"

His mouth split open, jaw aching by the pure stretch of it. His fists could not clench, and his toes stayed stationary. The pain seized his body, forcing him to stay put as the Gu Worm that once nurtured him in viscous nectar now stabbed within.

Pain.

Pain.

Pain!

PAIN!

It was so much that his voice refused to emerge.

He had been screaming, mouth wide open. But no voice escaped.

He had arms and legs, and a mouth—and he wanted to scream!

"You're doing great!" Lu Zuan Feng snickered as the blinding light dampened. 'Damn, that looks painful… and hot… FUCK! I should have never tried an Anime Training montage. How are those fuckers not masochists with the amount of beating they take?!'

Still, like all good things in life, Fang Zheng's pain ended.

He collapsed on the floor, clothes and body drenched with a sappy secretion from the Heavenly Aperture Transformation Gu. His body spasmed in a pool of liquid until he eventually calmed down.

Yet, aside from his throat, Fang Zheng didn't feel sore anywhere.

His eyes snapped open, green as before. The right side of his face did not lose its ancient bark, and his left ear did not become human-like.

However…

Fang Zheng experienced fulfillment.

His aperture had turned into a sphere of cracked wood.

It did not regenerate Essence and didn't house any Gu Worm.

But now?

A glance within revealed the world surrounded by flowing white light. Familiar copper-green tides flowed within, allowing Fang Zheng to smile sincerely after so long.

Yet, his green orbs shrunk the second he delved further, noticing an innate connection that shouldn't be there.

With his Aperture lost, Fang Zheng had also lost his Vital Gu—the Moon Raiment.

However, a familiar Gu Worm rested within the center of the Essence Sea, bobbing up and down. It had a green, pinecone-like body and continued to float in the same spot. Despite boasting several Rare Gu Worms either after refining them through the recipes in his Inheritance or attracting them by being a Mutated Wood Spirit, Fang Zheng could never forget this mere Rank 3 Gu Worm.

'Eh? Was the pain too much?'

Lu Zuan Feng blinked as he noticed Fang Zheng's tears despite the sap covering his body. The brilliant Wisdom Path Gu Master curled, trying to hug his stomach. His sobs became apparent as no amount of control could have prepared him for the truth.

He realized why he became a Mutated Tree Spirit…

Why he wasn't dead…

'Elder Brother Qing Shu…'

Fang Zheng sobbed quietly, finally realizing that death couldn't stop Qing Shu's support. It might sound wild and outlandish, especially to a Wisdom Path Gu Master like Fang Zheng. However, he had a gut feeling that something from the other side had always been beside him, encouraging him. That presence had become a pillar in Fang Zheng's heart, and it had been his brother Qing Shu.

Though momentarily overwhelmed with grief and gratitude, Fang Zheng soon regained his composure and stood up groggily.

His gaze turned sharp as he glanced at the quiet Divine Thief.

"Did you locate Flaming Beard Keng's murderer?"

"I did. It's all here. I left the evidence for you to collect in front of others." Lu Zuan Feng tossed the man an Information Path Gu. After giving it a quick glance, Fang Zheng tossed the man another Gu Worm.

'This—'

Lu Zuan Feng's breath hitched the second he swept his senses through the information within the Gu Worm.

Even though incomplete, the essence of the Wisdom Path wasn't lost within the information!

"Our business is concluded," Fang Zheng hummed, only for Lu Zuan Feng to grin and interrupt.

"Wait, I have another proposition. The clues will eventually lead you to something dangerous but also profitable—"

"If it's an inheritance, then just say so. The last thing you want to do is be cryptic with me," Fang Zheng scoffed.

So, the duo discussed another agreement before Lu Zuan Feng left with a satisfied look.

'Lord Desolate…' Fang Zheng's gaze gleamed with a terrifying intent after going through Lu Zuan Feng's information. To think that the Time Path Gu Master could confuse a Wisdom Path Gu Master…

'But it's fine.'

He entered meditation after bathing.

It was time to relentlessly cultivate. After all… the Essence around him was still his to consume and utilize, forming an unending source of battery for his cultivation—one not too different from the Relic Gu series!

As for his agreement with the Divine Thief?

Their current agreement had nothing to do with trading information but allying to crack down on the end of the clues Lu Zuan Feng secretly left behind.

<<<>>>

And these clues were effortless to follow.

After all, Shang Mi Zhu was a Gu Immortal. Although, he hadn't been himself since his Blessed Land's calamity—the Emotion Gales.

Every Gu Immortal wasn't only talented but depicted traits such as patience, cunning, ruthlessness, and more. Talent alone couldn't allow someone to become a Gu Immortal unless their backing was nigh-transcendent and the spoons within their mouths were made from a Rank 8 Immortal Gu Worm.

Shang Mi Zhu, despite being talented, was forged by ruthless conditions, a father's abuse, and the drive to surpass one's limits that soon allowed him to go beyond those who were once his peers and rivals. In his generation, Shang Mi Zhu was the sole Gu Immortal from the Shang Clan, leaving a brilliant legend in the Mortal World whispered about in errand pubs or taught within the Shang Clan's academy.

And one thing a Gu Immortal was usually the best at was maintaining priorities.

Though lustful to the point of becoming the man of the family after killing his father, Shang Mi Zhu never let his base desires compromise his ambitions. It wasn't only because ambitions satiated another part of him, but also that he would have been nothing but a pitiful mortal without his ambitions that drove him into ascending as an Immortal.

Yet, he used all his brilliance for the most basic tasks, not driven by ambitions but lust.

One graze of those gales had turned him into a frantic beast in heat that strived to impregnate all the women in his harem before sinking his claws onto every woman in the mortal realm that had caught his eye.

Some were married, some were related to essential clan members, and some were too protected to be touched. Shang Mi Zhu had become something less than a human WITH one's intelligence and knew to hide his tracks as his actions turned into chaotic ripples within the Shang Clan's administration.

It was a shame he couldn't snatch someone like Shang Xin Ci or Shang Chi Wen. The former was Shang Yan Fei's most doted daughter, and the latter was the current generation's sole female Young Master. However, Shang Mi Zhu didn't want to attack the stricter security around them.

It would almost definitely launch a full-scale security check. Shang Mi Zhu risked attracting his political rivals' attention because two Immortals were already searching for clues about the recent infiltration.

However, there was someone he could still reach.

She had been as beautiful as Shang Xin Ci but had a sensual air around her. Her body was both curvaceous and slim, and her gaze carefully veiled her furious defiance.

How… tantalizing would it be to snuff that defiance out of those pretty eyes.

Shang Mi Zhu was also assigned to uncover that woman's secrets. So, he could use that excuse to whisk her away and refill that womb with his seed and then again.

So, Shang Mi Zhu followed the clues and knew the famous Doctor Su Shou wasn't in her manor but a residence in the lower ring of Inner Cities. He located her courtyard and slipped past every trap set around it.

And soon, with an illicit smile on his effeminate face, Shang Mi Zhu pushed the door open—

His sensual brown pupils froze.

It took Shang Mi Zhu a second to observe Su Shou's disheveled clothes stained with a dried, yellowish substance. Her hair was messy, and her outfit had tears in many spots. Worst of all, Shang Mi Zhu detected signs of 'use' around her lips and cheeks, remnants of someone else's joy.

Only the shock of what he discovered suppressed the wave of cold fury raging in his heart!

'Oh, no!'

Several lights bloomed from his body, instantly reaching for Su Shou's abused form that she specifically left to be discovered by Shang Yan Fei.

Alas, fate was a cruel mistress and always had different plans.

It wasn't Shang Yan Fei who discovered Su Shou YEARS later.

It had been less than two years, and an Immortal located her instead.

One Shang Mi Zhu dismantled the plan Chen Jiu and Lo Jik carefully crafted after considering several aspects of the Shang Clan.

The explosion that should have eaten a good portion of the city…

It never occurred.

Chen Jiu's body wasn't lost in flames, and her soulless flesh, which the duo were confident in erasing off the face of the Gu World, fell into the hands of an erratic, lust and envy-driven Gu Immortal willing to cross all boundaries to quench his thirst.

'No… no… NO!'

Shang Mi Zhu's shoulders trembled as he inspected Chen Jiu's body.

Her soul was gone… and she left a trap!

The woman represented a path to vent his urges and the key to mastering the ability to dual cultivate!

His priority should be to alert the Shang Clan about Chen Jiu's deception… but infected by Emotion Gales, Mi Zhu prioritized his base urge to exact vengeance. He didn't want to find Chen Jiu for the killer move but to set her 'straight' and strip her partner—whoever it was that defiled and helped her—of his flesh and organs!

<<<>>>

While Empress Wu Ji's arrival and Hu Mei Er's accidental (technically not-so) enslavement had been out of Lo Jik's calculations, his prediction of experts arriving at San Cha Mountain was more than fruitful.

Aside from the Rank 5 Wu Gui, who allied with Ku Mo against Tie Mu Bai for past grudges, there were other Rank 5 experts like Wang Xiao and Chou Jiu.

Wang Xiao was an established Lone expert eventually forced into the Demonic ways due to his cruel Poison Path inheritance. Besides, the expert attracted envy from the Righteous and the Vicious alike due to being the sole possessor of the Wu Mountain, a location hidden by an Illusive formation, the key of which was known only to Wang Xiao.

As for Chou Jiu…

"That bastard! How dare he show his face around here?!"

'I know, I know…'

"That bastard!"

'You said it already…'

"THAT BASTARD!"

Chen Jiu and Chou Jiu had shared origins. The duo also soon became Southern Border's two of the four Great Doctors, with Chou Jiu eventually called the Killer Ghost Doctor due to his eccentric rule of demanding one life after saving someone.

Despite following the demonic way, all sides warmly welcomed Chou Jiu.

Of course, Lo Jik felt Chen Jiu didn't like Chou Jiu. Her hints were subtle, but Lo Jik was a master at reading them.

After all, Chou Jiu was Chen Jiu's junior brother in the mysterious Blessed Land, and that changed everything for the duo once Shang Yan Fei accidentally entered it. The deception of Chou Jiu using a Poison Vow Gu on Chen Jiu persuaded the latter to side with Shang Yan Fei as he eventually allowed herself to die to break the restrictions before reviving and escaping with the red-haired fucboi.

Lo Jik was well aware of how that ended.

"I want to kill him!" Chen Jiu hissed as Lo Jik hummed. 'That would mess up the plan.'

"I know," he heard her huff. "I never asked you to kill him for me."

'I can beat the shit out of him if that's what you want,' Lo Jik stretched and got up from the mattress before he felt Hu Mei Er tug his arm and pull him back.

"Just five more minutes, dear~!" Hu Mei Er purred, coiling her arms around Lo Jik before resting on his chest as he smiled.

"What do you mean by beating the shit out of him?" Chen Jiu felt slightly ominous, unlike the resting Hu Mei Er or the training and disgruntled Bai Ning Bing.

'I offended the Tie and Wu Clans. It allowed the Three Kings' Inheritance to shine brighter than ever, attracting experts from every corner. The Demonic Forces covet its treasures and want to swallow them for themselves… all things considered, they will eventually set their eyes on me. It's time for me to die—'

"It's too early! The Blessed Land has yet to deteriorate," Chen Jiu retorted. "We need to find its weakness before using several Gu Worms to attack it. Even then, it will merely be a scratch on its surface."

'You're wrong,' Lo Jik gently caressed Hu Mei Er's pink locks, enjoying her warmth.

"Oh?"

Lo Jik could feel Chen Jiu lifting her eyebrow. She had long appreciated his input since it had always led to success.

'I wouldn't be the only one attacking the Blessed Land. You can call me the tip of the spear in this scenario.'

Chen Jiu fell silent after hearing the final bit of his plan. It was sound and had a high success rate at a glance. However, she couldn't shake her intent. It sent faint alarms into the core of her ghostly self.

"I don't know, Lo Jik… I feel something is wrong."

Lo Jik's expression momentarily turned grim before he grunted, 'Every plan has a chance of failure. We succeeded until now, and only success must lie at the end, or we'll lose everything.'

His tone was confident and unflinching. His heart had already become unwavering in the face of inevitable risks.

Why else does anyone cultivate in the Gu World if not to overcome these odds?

"Everything can go wrong at the peak of success," Chen Jiu warned. "You remember how Verdant Sun ended despite his series of success, right?"

Lo Jik grew quiet as the intense, sun-like Hope Gu within shook alongside his heart.

He did remember.

Verdant Great Sun was Ren Zu's eldest son, and he soon came to fancy Desolate Ancient Moon, the only female human, and his sister. However, she denied his advances, frustrating Ren Zu's eldest to the point he sought Wisdom Gu. Cunning and already bothered by the knowledge of Verdant Great Sun seeking its assistance, the Wisdom Gu spurned Verdant Great Sun to taste the alcohol created by the tribes of Immemorial Monkeys. Eventually, Verdant Great Sun lost his taste of love for Desolate Ancient Moon and became addicted to his love with Wine.

This event also penned his end, for tasting the four great wines formed a Divine Travel Gu Worm within him, which activated whenever Verdant Great Sun was drunk and led him to several troublesome issues until they were introduced to each other after Verdan Great Sun was captured by the Hairy Men. These Hairy Men wanted to refine the Eternal Gu and use him as one of the materials.

The <Legends of Ren Zu> continued Verdant Great Sun's story.

The Legends of Ren Zu Chapter Two, Section Three

The sunlight of the Immemorial Antiquity Era shone on all living beings.

Cicadas made noises, giving off the clamor of life. Dense green trees, swaying with the wind, formed a large area of shade.

A large vat of delicious wine was in front of Verdant Great Sun, but he frowned, having no desire to drink.

"Divine Travel Gu, oh Divine Travel Gu, you have deeply harmed me. Right now, I do not even dare to drink wine. I am afraid of getting drunk and end up transported to a dangerous land by you." Verdant Great Sun sighed in anguish.

The previous two times, he was sent into the Ordinary Abyss by Divine Travel Gu, as well as the cauldron of the Hairy Men. Thankfully, he was lucky and made it out of both incidents alive.

Divine Travel Gu said: "Prince of humans, I was not intentionally harming you. In fact, every time you got drunk, you were the one who used my power. I am innocent. In fact, I even saved your life once, didn't I?"

Divine Travel Gu had previously saved Verdant Great Sun's life from the Tiger-Striped Honey Bees.

Verdant Great Sun's expression was dejected: "Sigh… don't mention the past. Now, because of you, I do not dare to drink wine. My life has become meaningless and boring."

Hearing this, Divine Travel Gu felt ashamed: "In that case, let me teach you a method. Go up into the sky, and there is a bamboo forest in the Azure Heaven among the nine heavens. Inside the bamboo forest, pluck a Jade Bamboo that is sky blue in color. Next, go to Blue Heaven and, at night, collect the Eight-Sided Diamonds Inside The Star Fragments. Next, when it is dawn, fly into the sky and use the Light of Glory of the rising sun to turn me into Fixed Immortal Travel Gu. Once I become that Gu, I will no longer send you to random places when you are drunk."

Verdant Great Sun heard this and was overjoyed.

But he thought about it and felt that hope was slim: "Oh Gu, I have stepped on the earth since I was born, I am not as light as clouds, nor do I have wings like birds. How can I fly into the Azure Heaven and pluck the Jade Bamboo? How can I collect the Eight-Sided Diamonds In The Star Fragments? Not to mention flying towards the rising sun."

Divine Travel Gu said: "That is right, humans cannot fly. But it is not a problem; we can ask Wisdom Gu about it. It has the greatest wisdom in this world. There has to be a way."

Verdant Great Sun and Wisdom Gu were old acquaintances. Verdant Great Sun started drinking because of Wisdom Gu's teachings.

But Wisdom Gu taught him to drink merely because it did not want to be disturbed. Sensing that Verdant Great Sun would find it again, Wisdom Gu quickly hid.

Verdant Great Sun did not find Wisdom Gu and felt dejected.

But Divine Travel Gu said again: "If we can't find Wisdom Gu, we can find Cognition Gu. It is the mother of Wisdom Gu."

Verdant Great Sun quickly found Cognition Gu and requested for the methods of flying.

Cognition Gu answered, "You found the right person because cognition is the wings of freedom. But everyone's thoughts are different, and what wings you have depends on yourself."

Saying so, Cognition Gu turned into a warm light and shone on Verdant Great Sun.

In the light, a pair of pure white feathered wings appeared behind Verdant Great Sun's back.

This pair of wings was gorgeous. They were white and pure like snow, without a trace of impurity, like the wings of a white crane.

Cognition Gu took a look and said, "Mm, this pair of wings is called 'self.' Everyone has their own 'self-cognition.' This pair of wings has a high degree of flexibility and freedom. But you must be careful. Do not overly bask in sunlight; otherwise, your sense of 'self' will either expand or shrink."

"Young man, you must remember my words. The higher you fly, the harder you fall." Cognition Gu thought and said the last sentence with deep meaning.

Obtaining the cognition wings named 'self,' Verdant Great Sun was pleased and flew into the sky.

He flew and flew, going higher and higher.

Humans were not born to fly like birds soaring in the sky, which intrigued Verdant Great Sun.

He played around freely in the sky, extremely happy. At the same time, he remembered Cognition Gu's warning and did not overexpose himself to sunlight.

When it was sunny, he would hide in the clouds.

Like this, Verdant Great Sun flew higher and higher, finally reaching the limits of heaven, the end of Azure Heaven.

There, Jade Bamboo grew in the air, having lustrous green leaves.

These Jade Bamboo were rooted in the void, and their tips also extended into the unknown void. Looking from outside, one could only see their thin, long stem.

Verdant Great Sun retrieved one segment of the bamboo casually.

This dark green bamboo stem was like jade. It was palm-sized and hollow in the middle, giving off a cold feeling.

Verdant Great Sun obtained the Jade Bamboo and was very happy. He continued flying upwards.

The sky of the Immemorial Antiquity Era had nine levels: White, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Azure, Blue, Purple, and Black.

Verdant Great Sun plucked the Jade Bamboo in Azure Heaven, and a few days later, he flew to the higher Blue Heaven.

It was night, and stars were shining in the sky. The stars flew around happily, raining down stardust. This stardust gathered into a sea, a beautiful river of light made of silver stars flowing across the entire Blue Heaven.

Verdant Great Sun willed his wings and plunged into the star river to swim.

He searched painstakingly in the endless stardust. He did not want those seven-sided or sixteen-sided fragments; he only wanted the Eight-Sided ones. These Star Fragments were like diamonds, crystal clear and flawless.

He searched for a long time before finding one.

On the second day, Verdant Great Sun flew towards the rising sun at the break of dawn.

The sunrise was like a giant red lantern, emitting a warm light.

This sunlight was not ordinary; it was the light of glory. It could shine on all living beings and penetrate the River of Time.

Verdant Great Sun's left hand was holding onto the Jade Bamboo, and his right hand was holding the Eight-Sided Diamond as he flew towards the sun and summoned Divine Travel Gu.

Basking under the light of glory—Divine Travel Gu swallowed the Star Fragment and entered the Jade Bamboo.

"Oh, Verdant Great Sun, I need time to metamorphosis into becoming the Fixed Immortal Travel Gu. During this period, you must fly towards the sun and not leave the light of glory. But you have to be more careful, Cognition Gu said to pay attention to the 'self' wings on your back. Once my transformation ends, you should fly towards the cloud cover immediately. Do remember, remember." Divine Travel Gu reminded with a worried tone.

Verdant Great Sun laughed heartily: "Oh Gu, rest assured. I have even survived the Ordinary Abyss and lived after the Hairy Men. I have the Reputation Gu and have transcended vanity. The light of glory can do nothing to me."

"Then I can stop worrying." Divine Travel Gu's voice weakened as the sunlight turned into threads, forming a cocoon and wrapping the Divine Travel Gu and the Jade Bamboo.

Verdant Great Sun moved his pure white wings, flying towards the sun.

During this process, the light cocoon became thicker and heavier.

The cocoon burst open a moment later, and a butterfly glowing in green light flew out: "I succeeded. From today onwards, I am not Divine Travel Gu but Fixed Immortal Travel Gu. Hahaha."

Fixed Immortal Travel Gu flew around Verdant Great Sun, happily dancing, but suddenly shouted: "Ah, oh no! Verdant Great Sun, look at your wings!"

Under the sun's light, Verdant Great Sun's wings had expanded to three times its original size.

"Do not fluster, I noticed it long ago, but so what? The larger my wings, the stronger they are, and the higher and faster I can fly." Verdant Great Sun laughed loudly.

"Quickly hide in the clouds, stop flying." Fixed Immortal Travel Gu said worriedly.

"Don't worry, don't worry." Verdant Great Sun was not worried at all.

The 'self' wings on his back grew larger and larger, becoming even more significant than his body. Verdant Great Sun's speed also increased.

"Fixed Immortal Travel Gu, what do you think is above the nine heavens?" He shot up towards greater altitudes.

"Stop flying, stop flying. If you fall down, I cannot save you." Fixed Immortal Travel Gu was very worried.

"What's the problem? How could I fall down? Look at my wings. How strong are they, how powerful are they!" Verdant Great Sun was just rebuking when suddenly, his wings expanded to their limits and exploded.

Losing his wings, Verdant Great Sun fell to the ground immediately.

Eventually, he landed on the ground as an unrecognizable grotesque corpse.

Ren Zu's eldest son met his end.

<<<>>>

'Verdant Great Sun's tale is that of warning.'

Lo Jik assured Chen Jiu. 'For love, Verdant Great Sun sought Wisdom. Who thinks with mind when it comes to love? What was his heart for? Alcohol storage? Then, his reputation spread throughout the world. And as they say, the tallest tree always experiences the strongest winds. Even if not for the Divine Travel Gu, his life would not have been easier. Ultimately, he chased glory while stating he was above vanity, a contradiction of self that eventually led to his demise…'

"Then we should heed Verdant Great Sun's warning and live an ordinary life filled with pure love?" Chen Jiu scoffed. "Such a life is the quickest to bury with the shit of the world!"

Lo Jik sat up and grew quiet.

He learned something else from Verdant Great Sun instead of living ordinarily.

'Everything is best in limits,' Lo Jik's whisper echoed in his depths, surprising Chen Jiu. Lo Jik's desires and actions were anything but limited.

'But…' he exhaled. 'I want my freedom to chase anything… I like it, even if I'm doomed with those wings. Chen Jiu, only those who dared fly risk falling. And I haven't even begun spreading my wings yet.'

"So, you will risk everything in that one act?" Chen Jiu questioned. "Are you sure that you won't fail? Remember, you cannot lie to me—"

'If I'm to be buried with all the shit in the world, I will go out flying high. The plan will work. It must. There's nothing else.'

Chen Jiu grew silent before giggling.

"Attack when it's night. That's when I can support you the best. And make sure the Blessed Land's grip weakens, or it will affect how much I can help you."

'I'll try using the other Defensive Gu, but still prioritize my soul's protection over the offensive.' Lo Jik chucked.
