Chapter 13: Chapter 2345 – Fragments (3)
In the distance, starlight spilled like water, dyeing the skies with gentle brilliance. A moment later, a torrent of golden light surged from another direction, crashing into the starlight. The earth trembled violently.
Fang Yuan stood motionless atop a ridgeline, watching silently as the two venerables descended.
Star Constellation's figure condensed from streams of wisdom light. Her expression was calm, yet her thoughts surged endlessly behind those serene eyes. She glanced at Fang Yuan, then turned to the land beneath them. A strange rhythm pulsed faintly from underground — the aura of the second fragment!
Moments later, golden radiance compressed into a humanoid form. Giant Sun Immortal Venerable appeared. His gaze swept across Star Constellation and Fang Yuan.
For a while, none of them moved.
Fang Yuan broke the silence, smiling faintly. "The fragment is nearby. But I wonder, are either of you willing to give way?"
Giant Sun laughed. "You think I would back off now? You must be dreaming!"
Star Constellation's eyes twitched. Her mind had already simulated thirty-six likely battle paths and ten thousand deductions. In the end, all results pointed toward conflict. The fragment's aura had grown stronger by the minute. It was about to emerge!
Without warning, golden light burst forth as Giant Sun made his move. A blinding slash of luck path energy cut toward the ridge.
Fang Yuan had already activated a killer move he had been preparing for a while. His body flickered like smoke as he dodged, reappearing on a distant cliff. A ripple of white smoke surrounded him. "Trying to take me out first? Too naïve."
Star Constellation did not remain idle. Starlight swept across the battlefield as her palms formed a strange hand. She was not targeting Fang Yuan or Giant Sun, but the ground itself!
"She's going for the fragment directly!" Fang Yuan's pupils narrowed.
The hand went directly into the ground and grabbed onto something. It was about to pull out, but right at this moment, it got shattered.
Boom!
Giant Sun's fist shattered the star hand. Luck path surged like a tide as his aura grew denser.
"I'll have that fragment," he said coldly.
Fang Yuan used this opening. "Immortal killer move — Unstable Leap!"
In a blink, he vanished and reappeared underground. His hand pierced through dirt and stone, grabbing at something warm and pulsing with faint light. The fragment!
But before he could retreat, a sharp pain struck his shoulder — a beam of starlight had pierced through his defense.
Star Constellation hovered above, calm and relentless. "Did you think I wouldn't account for that?"
Fang Yuan grunted as blood flowed from his injuries. But the fragment was in his hand.
Above, Giant Sun's expression grew darker. "You're both underestimating me too much!"
He raised both hands, summoning an immense illusory sun behind him. With a wave, golden rays fell like rain, each infused with a different luck path killer move. The terrain warped and shook violently.
The battle exploded in full.
Fang Yuan activated Reverse Flow Protection and dodged through the gaps. Star Constellation pulled back and used Illusory Chessboard to simulate dozens of clones, each performing different moves to draw attention.
But the fragment trembled violently in Fang Yuan's grasp. It was resonating — not just with Memory Eclipse Gu, but with something far away in the distance.
"There's more?" he muttered, then quickly sealed the fragment using various formations and killer moves. He could not afford to let this piece cause further disturbance.
Suddenly, another shockwave tore through the battlefield.
Boom!
A fourth figure had appeared — hidden by darkness, cloaked in deathly chill. Netherworld Immortal! One of Spectral Soul's split souls.
Fang Yuan clicked his tongue. "Troublesome."
Giant Sun snarled, "Hmph! Another rat dares to crawl out?"
Netherworld Immortal emerged from the void, his form veiled in swirling darkness. A skeletal face loomed within the haze, half-dissolved, bearing faint traces of Spectral Soul's past visage.
The pseudo Venerable hovered with quiet menace. "Fang Yuan," he intoned. "You seek Memory Eclipse Gu. You must understand, that Gu was once mine."
Fang Yuan's gaze flickered. "Once," he agreed. "But the world changes."
Netherworld Immortal narrowed his eyes. "You won't hand it over?"
Fang Yuan raised a brow, one hand behind his back, completely at ease. "You're welcme to try and take it."
Netherworld Immortal's killing intent surged. But before he could act, starlight descended like a curtain.
Star Constellation stepped forward.
Her appearance brought silence. Even Netherworld Immortal faltered. As a pseudo Venerable, the gap between them was a chasm he could not cross.
"Spectral Soul," Star Constellation spoke coldly, addressing not just the clone but the will within. "This is not the battlefield of the past. Do not test me again."
Netherworld Immortal fell silent.
From another direction, golden radiance flared. Luck path fog billowed out as Giant Sun Immortal Venerable snorted coldly.
"Fang Yuan, Star Constellation, and even Spectral Soul's leftover husk… heh, this place really is lively," Giant Sun chuckled, folding his arms.
Red Lotus' clone emerged last, rising from the ground as he silently stood there. He said nothing, but his eyes were sharp. He had no intention of contending for the second fragment.
Fang Yuan observed quietly. "Four Venerables, and yet all of us hesitate," he said with amusement. "Truly, Memory Eclipse Gu is not simple."
Star Constellation responded. "You retrieved the first fragment. That's fine. But the second fragment cannot fall in your hands."
Fang Yuan smiled faintly. "You're still unwilling to act openly?"
Suddenly, Netherworld Immortal lunged. He had calculated his odds. Against one Venerable, he would lose. Against two, he would die. But amidst four conflicting parties, chaos bred opportunity.
He reached for the second fragment buried within the ground's depths.
"Presumptuous!" Star Constellation flicked her sleeve. Space twisted as time froze. Netherworld Immortal staggered, coughing blood as the starlight caught his shoulder and half his chest dissolved.
Before she could deliver a killing blow, Fang Yuan moved. His figure vanished and reappeared beside the fragment. He swept it into his aperture without pause.
Giant Sun reacted instantly, golden chains erupting from his sleeves. But Fang Yuan actived a killer move as Reverse Flow River surged violently, sweeping him into its backward torrent.
"Damn!" Giant Sun's expression darkened. "Reverse Flow River, Dang Hun Mountain, and now even Luo Po Valley… he's using everything."
Red Lotus' clone finally spoke. "He knows how to hide. The second fragment is his now."
Star Constellation's gaze lingered on the blood swirling within the Reverse Flow River. The embryo's revival was not yet complete—but the signs were accelerating.
"We must prepare for the third fragment," she said softly. "Fang Yuan's pace will only quicken."

Greetings, fellow cultivators! I've created a side charcter called Chibi Yuan. The purpose of this character is to explain the things mentioned in this fan-fic. I've done this because I think it'd be better to do it this way rather than to make a canon character info-dump about something.

Chibi Yuan Explains:
Remote Tributary of Reverse Flow River
Chibi Yuan: "This Tributary is actually a killer move created by Fang Yuan. It uses Reverse Flow River and several "time pools" as the cores to create a temporary environment which can have different abilities depending upon the user. For example, Fang Yuan used the Tributary of Reverse Flow River in the past chapter(s) to create illusions of himself form the past; this can be considered a partial dream path killer move. He hasn't developed this killer move that much, so it's always unstable in an aspect. That pretty much sums it all up. Thanks for reading!"
