Chapter 3: Deceit
My my! Welcome back. You muuuuuuust be very eager to come back so early to listen to the tales I speak of, well.. Who am I to judge? Alright, mortal. Feast your eyes.
The scene begins with Therius and his wife, Vena, walking across the sands of the desert. The wind was soft, but relentless, sweeping golden dust into the folds of their clothes and hair. Every step they took sank slightly into the heated dunes, leaving short-lived impressions that the wind was eager to erase.
Therius walked with a steady, deliberate pace, his broad frame cutting a path through the shimmering heat. Beside him, Vena moved like a blade wrapped in silk—graceful, purposeful, lethal. Her white hair blew freely behind her like a banner against the backdrop of sand and sky. Her tanned skin shimmered beneath the sun, the scars along her arms and shoulders catching the light like old runes etched into bronze. Or in her case? Ebony.
"Therius, if I may ask. Where did you.. go? You told me you had an important mission. Especially since you told me that you were gonna go to the exhibition, remember?"
Therius's eyes widened like she mentioned a dead memory within his non-existent skull, the reason I say non-existent is due to the fact all Prima are simply hollow on the inside despite being very much capable of manipulating their bodies into whatever they desire. They have a core of energy within them that separates them from all beings! But enough exposition for now!
"..Exhibition? What exhibition?"
His wife chuckled dangerously as she smiled at him, before she unsheathed her sword and pointed it at his neck. Clearly, there was a lot wrong here...
"You don't remember anything, do you? Well, this will make this sort of thing muuuuch easier on me. You, my darling. Seem to either not be my husband, or you hit your head too much. So I am gonna make sure that you either get to thinking, or perhaps I shall expose you WHEN I RIP YOUR CORE OFF YOUR CONCEPT!"
He was about to respond but then he suddenly fell to the ground, as she had swept his legs!
Concrete kissed his shoulder blades. Breath blasted from his lungs in a sharp exhale! Dust puffed around him.
Move. Instinct overrode shock. His right palm slapped the ground hard, arresting momentum. Simultaneously, his left leg coiled, knee driving toward his chest. Abdominals snapped tight. He rolled through the fall, momentum becoming motion.
His hips twisted. Weight shifted onto the striking palm. Spine uncoiled like a spring. He pushed up and forward, driving off the ball of his grounded foot. Muscles in shoulder, core, and thigh ignited. One fluid arc: from flat on his back to a low, wide combat stance—knees bent, fists raised, eyes locked on hers.
She'd already reset. Feet planted, weight centered, hands poised. Waiting. But, a true warriorress doesn't just stationary! She immediately rushed in to give him a shoulder check, but he braced for it and flipped backwards.
"Vena! Stop this madness! It is me, Therius."
"Therius left my house three years ago, on a mission. You come one day, you may look like him yet you don't remember anything. You shall die for fooling me, you damn heartless fiend!"
She lunges forward at him with a lot of vigor, dagger in hand. However he parties hard and he started to clash his forearms with her. He immediately grabbed onto her wrists to try and attempt throwing her to the side, but she was wise to his tricks and she immediately extended her feet right into his face. Pushing herself off of him and hurting simultaneously, he put his hand on his chin as a little bit of glowing liquid escaped his mouth. She charges forward at him once more to deliver a slash to his throat, but he ducks and grabs her by the legs and slams her face first to the hot dunes of sand.
In retaliation, her boot suddenly extended one dagger as it stabbed him right in the chest. Seems this lady really keeps weapons everywhere on her person, he pushed her off before grabbing that dagger in his chest. She slowly crawled away from his position, before getting on her feet once more.
"VENAAAAA! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND?!"
The desert heat was starting to get to the both of them, nothing just really was adding up. Why was she doing this? It seems that he can't really pull his punches anymore, he took a deep breath. Before he got into a stance that was foreign in the eyes of Vena and probably most Primons.
"...I learned this in Earth, they have quite the myriad of techniques."
She scoffed and rolled her eyes before getting into a stance herself, it seems that she wasn't giving it her all herself!
"The earthlings are scummish worms that have no sort of strength or morals, they will disregard them all! Women of that realm would just as easily leave a man for some money or some sort of other shitty reason. And the laws there don't exactly do anything but aid those ladies."
"....Are you seriously educating me on bad women when you are seriously trying TO KILL ME?!"
"THEY ARE THE SHEEP, AND WE ARE THE LIONS! AND RIGHT NOW? YOU ARE BEING THE OPPOSITE OF EVERYTHING OUR KIND STANDS FOR!"
He immediately charged at her, as his energy flared around his body. An Aura formed around his structure, sand cratered under the force. Raw energy crackled around him, a corona of white-gold fire. A cloak of pure, incandescent light streamed from his shoulders, ravelling violently in the shockwave of his passage. This power was that of true brilliance, as the heat was so incomprehensible that most of the desert around them turned into GLASS!
"....Fine then, I am not gonna lay there and let you have your way!"
He immediately dashed back as he opened his palm as his cloak formed four wings of light, a blade that shall be his instrument of destruction was carved from reality and into his hand as he swung it forth at her body! She nearly lost her head as she barely ducked and cocked her arm as she jumped up with her fist, showing that precision does in fact beat power and that timing is better than any speed. Her fist cleanly smashing his chin as his legs started to shake from the impact, as a purple Aura engulfed her body and she grabbed him by the neck.
"I think playtime is over, you damn freak."
The purple aura crackled like captured lightning around her, its energy humming with contained fury. Her grip on his neck was iron, crushing the air from his windpipe, forcing his head back to meet her blazing eyes. His magnificent wings of light flickered erratically, mirroring the dazed tremor in his limbs.
"...If it aids your rest in the afterlife, I already knew you weren't an imposter. Although my reasons? I guess you will never know."
The reality-blade in his spasming hand flickered, its form destabilizing, becoming jagged shards of unstable energy. As he stabbed it into her arm, exploding it! She was sent back by it, holding her shoulder. This was his chance!
"THE ONLY THING I NEED TO KNOW IS THAT I AM TAKING YOU DOWN, VENA!"
And he charges forward for one last good blow to finish the fight, but before he could even become mid-way the distance. He felt.. paralyzed, as he was grabbed by the back of the neck. He could only see the gauntlet's fingers on his neck, as that armor was all too familiar. Unfortunately, it was simply all too futile. As just like that? Therius became history.. No, that is a wrong way of saying it. History can be remembered, Therius and all that was about him shall cease to be.
"..You did well, Vena. As promised, I shall ensure that your children live completely in luxury and in the best conditions. I understand that this was quite difficult for you, fighting and murdering your own husband.."
Vena looked down, she didn't want to admit it. This was definitely difficult on her, even if she was acting all battle crazy and bloodthirsty. She kept trying to reassure herself that, this was something that any parent would have been willing to die for. The safety and sanctity and for their children to live in the best privileges, right? RIGHT!?
"Although, I can't say the same for you. I heard your words, you spoke of the earthlings as feeble worms and pathetic things. And of the lack of loyalty that their lovers had... Despite just sacking off your partner for your children, unfortunately for you. I don't let hypocrites exist in my kingdom, good bye."
She immediately turned away and starting running! Only to become miasma, gas that formed into nothing but fog... Her life? Her existence? Her memory? Like a burning page in a book, gone without any trace except the ashes that were her children. Who had already been given by Vena to the Castle the day before they were here in the desert.
"...Well, I have business to attend to. GUARDS! I expect a made-up story about how I was sent to takedown two lunatics who were fighting to the death and how the noble king that I am got rid of them and adopted the two."
The guards nodded in silence as they kneeled to the king, the king laughs.
