Return To You

Chapter 8: Our Future, Together

Summary:With hero work threatening to pull them apart, and public scrutiny at an all-time high, Izuku and Bakugou must decide what they want—not just as heroes, but as people. What started as rivalry, turned to tension, became love. Now, it's time to choose what comes next.

U.A. Faculty Office – One Week Later

Bakugou stood before three pro heroes and a school rep, arms crossed, face set like stone.

"You endangered yourself by emotionally overreacting in the field," one of them said.

Bakugou didn't blink. "And I'd do it again."

The room fell silent.

"Are you saying you'd break protocol for Midoriya?"

"I'm saying I love him. And if that makes me a worse hero, you're teaching the wrong thing."

He turned on his heel and left without waiting for permission.

U.A. Recovery Ward – That Night

Izuku was mostly healed, bandages traded for medical tape and a clean shirt. He sat up when Bakugou entered the room.

"You're supposed to be resting," Bakugou muttered, pulling the chair close.

"You're supposed to be keeping your temper in check."

Bakugou snorted. "We both suck at rules."

Izuku smiled.

They didn't talk for a moment.

Then Izuku asked, "Did they punish you?"

Bakugou shrugged. "Warning. Official notice. Whatever. Doesn't change anything."

Izuku's hand slid over his. "It does."

Bakugou looked at him. Really looked.

"You're my weak point, Deku."

"You're not weak," Izuku said. "And I'm not letting you fight the world alone."

A beat passed. Then Bakugou reached into his jacket pocket.

A key.

Izuku blinked. "What's that?"

"My dorm lease ends this spring. Got an off-campus apartment lined up."

"And you're…?"

Bakugou looked him in the eye. "I want you to live with me."

Izuku stared.

"You don't have to decide now," Bakugou added quickly. "But—"

Izuku kissed him before he could finish. Soft. Firm. Like an answer.

"I already decided," he whispered. "I want that."

Bakugou exhaled a laugh, half-relief, half-love. "Good."

Six Months Later – New Apartment, New City

The apartment wasn't big. One bedroom. Wide windows. Scuffed floorboards.

But it had plants Izuku forgot to water and Bakugou secretly took care of.

It had two toothbrushes. One shared bed. And a hallway lined with photos—some with friends, some with fans, one taken by Uraraka that showed them standing side by side, laughing in the rain.

And it had a front door.

Where, every morning, Bakugou would lace up his boots, turn, and kiss Izuku before heading out.

"Be safe," Izuku would say.

"Always."

Then he'd close the door and leave for work—knowing exactly who he was coming home to.

Final Line

Because after all the fighting…All the rivals. All the pain. All the silence.

Bakugou Katsuki still returned to the same place.

To the same person.

Every single time.

To Izuku.To home.To love.

To you.
