Chapter 112: Star, The Biwi (2)
[The Celestial ‘Weeping Mōryō is resentfully glaring at you.]
‘Here he goes again.’ Chang-Sun dumbfoundedly chuckled after reading the message that popped up before him. ‘Come to think of it, Jeong Yoo-Jin seemed to be using [Hellfire Song] earlier.’
Celestials normally didn’t give out their Authorities even to high-ranking priests like apostles or chief priests. If an apostle with bad intentions were to analyze it and find a countermeasure, it could become the Celestial’s great weakness. Hence, they rarely gave out their authorities to someone who wasn’t their follower.
For the same reason, Heoju was reluctant to give Chang-Sun his Authority even though he adored him. Pabilsag and Minerva bestowing [Perfect Marksmanship] and [Kalokagathia] to Chang-Sun was unusual, but they could at least hope to make him their apostle since he had no Guardian. However, the same couldn’t be said for Lamashtu’s case. Yoo-Jin already had a Guardian, who was named the ‘Aurora-Shrouded Sky.’ Even so, Lamashtu still gave his Authority to her just so he could get revenge on Chang-Sun.
‘It’s still not enough to extinguish the Jigwi’s Eon Fire.’ Chang-Sun shrugged.
Chang-Sun became curious because of all those information. What was it about Gwak Do-Woon that made Lamashtu hellbent on getting revenge?
[The Celestial ‘Weeping Mōryō ‘ curses you.]
The message from Lamashtu made Chang-Sun stop.
[The Celestial ‘Weeping Mōryō’ declares he will get his revenge on you.]
[The Celestial ‘Weeping Mōryō’ glares at you, chewing on his fingernails.]
…
[The Celestial ‘A Good Season to Hunt’ yells at the ‘Weeping Mōryō’ to get out of here because he is so noisy.]
[The Celestial ‘World-Encircling Serpent’ sarcastically comments he is one pathetic Celestial.]
…
[The Celestial ‘Weeping Mōryō’ is throwing tantrums because of the Celestials who made sarcastic comments about him!]
“That’s it.” Chang-Sun frowned and raised his head.
No matter how friendly he felt with Lamashtu, Chang-Sun was bound to get annoyed if Lamashtu continued to interfere like this.
“Are you there, Herald?” Chang-Sun called out for Herald, but no one answered him.“I know you’re watching, so why don’t you just answer?”
[The Celestial ‘A Good Season to Hunt’ opens her eyes widely, asking if that weird rabbit human is here again.]
“Herald!” Chang-Sun repeated.
[The Celestial ‘A Good Season to Hunt’ says that ugly rabbit human is definitely not here.]
“If you don’t come out, I won’t make any deals with you from now!” Chang-Sun shouted and soon noticed a long line being drawn in the air. A rabbit man then came out of it.
“Phew! I told you it’s a clear violation of regulations if an Administrator interferes like this,” Herald said.
Still wearing a monocle and tuxedo, Herald looked noticeably cornered because, as he said, an Administrator interfering with a Player clearing a Dungeon could leave a bad precedent.
‘Besides, getting involved with you never ends well, Mr. Lee Chang-Sun,’ Herald thought.
That was why Herald pretended he couldn’t hear Chang-Sun until he made a weird threat. Chang-Sun was just a Player, not a Celestial, so Herald wasn’t sure what ‘deal’ he could possibly make with him.
Still, he had a feeling he shouldn’t disregard Chang-Sun’s words. Even one of the Zodiac’s ‘Gemini’ recently showed interest in Chang-Sun. Although the Celestial was just curious about Chang-Sun, having such a powerful Celestial take interest in Chang-Sun naturally made the <Management Bureau> pay attention to him as well.
‘Even my team leader told me to keep a close watch on Mr. Lee Chang-Sun, so I can’t keep ignoring him… I’m going to go insane.’ Herald groaned in his thoughts.
Under normal circumstances, an Administrator was the absolute Gab, and a Player was Eul. That didn’t seem to apply in Chang-Sun and Herald’s relationship, though, since Chang-Sun knew his value too well.
[The Celestial ‘A Good Season to Hunt’ is shocked to see the weird rabbit human jumping out again!]
[The Celestial ‘World-Encircling Serpent’ looks at her and wonders if she is really a Celestial.]
Ignoring Pabilsag, who was acting like a simpleton again, Herald quietly looked at Chang-Sun, who just shrugged. “I’m not asking for anything huge.”
“…?” Herald tilted his head.
“I want to block these messages so I don’t have to see them.” Chang-Sun pointed at the messages that came from Lamashtu.
Herald held his breath. “… You want to block a Celestial’s messages?”
[The Celestial ‘Weeping Mōryō’ frowns and growls!]
“I don’t want to see them. I’ll pay you some Merits if I have to,” Chang-Sun offered.
Herald unwittingly gaped. “Huh…!”
[The Celestial ‘A Good Season to Hunt’ bursts into laughter, rolling on the ground.]
[The Celestial ‘World-Encircling Serpent’ pounds the ground with his tail, saying a mortal just mocked an idiotic Celestial.]
[The Celestial ‘Calamity Tiger’ sneers loudly.]
The Celestials became noisy, but Herald still couldn’t pull himself together. He had never seen a mortal ‘daring’ to block messages from a Celestial. If the blocked Celestial began to bear a grudge against the mortal and tried to harm them, the mortal would helplessly suffer.
Even if a giant shield known as the <Causality> protected mortals from Celestials, the Celestials could still bring disaster to mortals if they put their minds to it. Chang-Sun didn’t seem to care about any of that, though.
“Why? Is it not possible?” Chang-Sun asked.
“I-It is, but…!” Herald stuttered.
“What are you waiting for, then? Do it.” Chang-Sun requested.
‘Argggh! You freaking human! Why are you trying to torture me!!’ Herald silently screamed.
Granting such a request would put Herald in a tough spot. With their ego hurt, the Celestial wouldn’t consider how he was just accepting a Player’s request. Besides, Herald’s superior forced him to show a much better performance, but he wouldn’t hesitate to use Herald as a scapegoat if something went south.
‘I can’t just lie and say it’s a violation of the regulations since the auditors could severely reprimand me in the future! Arggh!’ Herald continued to scream, wanting to pull out his fur.
If he knew Chang-Sun would make such a request, he would have ignored him completely! But what was done was done, and there was no going back for Herald. Instead, he racked his brain for a good way to escape this sticky situation. However, under this circumstance, that proved impossible.
Although Chang-Sun was aware of what Herald was going through, he pretended not to notice. He didn’t have the authority to take over the system right now, so he was going to blame everything that was going to happen in the future on Herald. Just then…
[The Celestial ‘Abyss-Chasing Great Devil’ resumes watching you again.]
“…?”
“…?”
Feeling someone with an enormous presence watching them, Herald hurriedly looked up. Chang-Sun did the same. After all, Mephistopheles had kidnapped him before.
‘What’s he doing?’ Chang-Sun tensed up, tightly grabbing [Tiamat’s Snaggletooth].
Mephistopheles didn’t send Chang-Sun any new messages after he was forced to leave the divine ground, so he believed Mephistopheles was still confronting Minerva. Had the confrontation ended already?
[The Celestial ‘Weeping Mōryō’ straightens his posture upon sensing the great will of the absolute evil!]
[The Celestial ‘Abyss-Chasing Great Devil’ nonchalantly looks elsewhere.]
[The Celestial ‘Weeping Mōryō’ hurriedly activates his Authority to fight back!]
[The Celestial ‘Abyss-Chasing Great Devil’ reaches his hand out to the direction he has been watching.]
Lamashtu and Mephistopheles quickly exchanged messages.
Thud.
A very loud sound of something being crushed echoed in the sky.
Cracck.
It then got pulverized and trampled by the same powerful force, almost as if someone slapped an irritating fruit fly against the wall and rubbed it. The sound was simple yet horrifying.
“…!”
“…!”
Chang-Sun and Herald tensed up, feeling shivers traveling down their spines. Discovering someone could kill Lamashu so easily shocked Chang-Sun, who knew Lamashtu quite well. Herald’s eyes lost focus upon witnessing such a surrealistic sight. His fur was already white, but his pale face made it look even whiter.
[The Celestial ‘A Good Season to Hunt’ grew silent after seeing a shocking sight.]
[The Celestial ‘World-Encircling Serpent’ has gone silent.]
[The Celestial ‘Calamity Tiger’ has gone silent.]
Pabilsag always behaved recklessly out of immaturity, and Jörmungandr never hesitated to make sarcastic comments whenever an incident occurred. The belligerent Heoju even publicly declared he would wage war against anyone if necessary. Regardless, they all shut up. It seemed as if they could end up like Lamashtu.
The Celestials weren’t the only ones who became silent. The whole sky became so quiet that Jin and the Changgwis stopped fighting and vacantly looked up at the sky after sensing a dangerous presence.
…
After the long, suffocating silence, a new message popped up.
Ding!
[The Celestial ‘Abyss-Chasing Great Devil’ brushes off the dust on his hands and looks at the Saha World again.]
[The Celestial ‘Abyss-Chasing Great Devil’ concisely says to continue what you were doing since he had gotten rid of the annoying bug.]
That was the end of Mephistopheles’ messages. The other Celestials also stopped sending messages.
“… Phew.” Herald sighed, breaking the silence.
He was a rabbit-headed man, so it was hard to tell what expression he was making, but his fur was soaked in sweat.
“Seriously, I can’t have any peaceful day when I’m with you, Mr. Lee Chang-Sun. It looks like your request has been solved, so I will be on my way.” Herald quickly exited through the spatial gap, worried Chang-Sun would make another request. The gap was sealed as soon as Herald entered it.
Chang-Sun dumbfoundedly chuckled. He didn’t expect his request to be taken care of like that and for Herald to just bolt. On the other hand, he was now certain that Mephistopheles’ divine class was much higher than he had thought. After all, he did actually meet Mephistopheles in his divine ground and witness the incident that occurred today.
However, the message that described Mephistopheles as ‘the great will of the absolute evil’ bugged him greatly. Few beings could be described with such a phrase. Besides, considering how Mephistopheles treated Lamashtu, he could treat other Celestials as ‘bugs’ just as much, so what did such a being see in him? Chang-Sun really couldn’t tell.
[The Celestial ‘Twilight-Piercing Owl’ heaves a long sigh after belatedly finding out what happened.]
Fortunately, Minerva, who had stopped Mephistopheles, didn’t seem hurt.
[The Celestial ‘Geminus’ is partially showing deep interest in the current incident!]
Meanwhile, one of the ‘Gemini’ paid more attention to Chang-Sun because of the incident.
『… I have a mind-boggling master, huh.』
Jin telepathically grumbled, but he was noticeably happy. Since Chang-Sun had become his master, it was a delight for him to learn how highly valued his master was.
‘She lost it.’ Chang-Sun hung [Tiamat’s Snaggletooth] back on his waist.
Until just a moment ago, Jeong Yoo-Jin’s eyes venomously gleamed, but they were now vacant. It seemed fear had completely taken a hold of her when events she couldn’t even imagine happening continuously unfolded. Considering she had already been mentally broken down, there seemed to be no need to torture her.
