Chapter 189: REVELATION AND WARNING
Ali's question still left Logan in a confused state.
After pondering for a while, Logan finally let out a long breath.
"Five. I have five affinities."
He had weighed the pros and cons over and over again, but in the end, he chose to reveal everything to Ali.
"If I want to uncover the truth about Nolan and continue my cultivation, I'll have to take on solo raids. But without the guild master's permission, that's impossible. As for whether I have five affinities or three—or even just two—there's no point in worrying about that anymore. Right now, my strength is enough that if anyone dares to provoke me, I can crush them without hesitation. Before the next raid, I'll also need to pay a visit to the Third Eye Sect… I still owe them a debt that must be settled."
Even after giving his answer, these thoughts continued to churn in Logan's mind.
On the other side, Ali was utterly dumbfounded by Logan's words.
A few months had passed since his conversation with Noah and Emily, yet their words still echoed in his mind. The possibilities they hinted at stirred something deep within him, condensing the emotions that had been simmering inside for so long into a sharp, unshakable excitement.
He had been waiting for a hunter like this—a hunter who could rise above the ordinary, someone worthy of facing the dungeons and the monsters within. But with every passing generation, hunters only grew weaker. Their capabilities dwindled, while the monsters, on the other hand, seemed to grow stronger—almost as if they were evolving.
No longer were they the mindless, barbaric beasts of the past. Slowly, they had begun to fight with strategy, like war generals commanding armies rather than wild animals lashing out.
And that was why Logan's talent shone so brightly in his eyes. Because with Logan… the possibilities were endless.
Ali could barely contain his excitement as he blurted out,
"Then… does that mean you're Logan Smith?"
Logan, however, didn't answer directly. Instead, he countered with a question of his own.
"First tell me, who told you that Logan had five affinities?"
Although it was no longer much of a secret, Logan still exercised caution. Before exposing his true identity, he needed to confirm how much had already been revealed.
"It was the Starwind couple," Ali replied without the slightest hesitation. He had no reason to conceal the truth.
"I see."
Logan wasn't particularly surprised by the answer. After all, aside from his own family, only Rowan and the Starwind couple knew about his five affinities. Considering that both Noah and Ali were S-rank hunters, it was only natural that their connections ran deep.
Besides, in today's raid, Lilith was also part of Gideon's party. With so many overlapping ties, coincidences like this rarely happened by chance.
"If you want an honest answer from me, you'll have to help me with two things first."
Logan didn't reply directly. Instead, he set his own condition.
"Consider it done. Both of them. Just tell me—are you really Logan?"
Ali agreed without a moment's hesitation, his curiosity burning too strongly to resist.
Logan's lips curved into a faint smile as he finally spoke the truth.
"Yes. I am Logan Smith."
Ali's heart nearly leapt out of his chest. Excitement surged through him so intensely that it felt as though it might spill over at any moment. But then, another thought struck him like a bolt of lightning.
Everyone had heard the news that the prodigy named Logan had died. No one knew how it had happened. Even John hadn't spoken of it for reasons of his own.
Ali's expression grew solemn as he asked,
"Then why take on a second identity to become a hunter? Are the people behind your fake death still after you?"
Logan's gaze hardened.
"Yes. If they discover that I'm still alive, they'll come after me—and my family. They won't stop until we're all destroyed."
And with that, Logan slowly began to explain his circumstances. A shadowy organization known as the Third Eye Sect had set its sights on him. They had even kidnapped his mother once, and later tried to capture him as well—a failed attempt that had left two of their own dead.
In the aftermath, everyone assumed he had perished in that incident. Logan chose to leave it that way. Until he became strong enough to utterly annihilate them, it was better for the world to believe he was gone.
Of course, he deliberately left out the matter of his cultivation technique. Though Ali seemed trustworthy, it was sheer foolishness to place blind faith in anyone without first seeing their true face revealed through crisis.
For now, Logan himself was no longer weak. Apart from S-rank hunters like Ali, there was no one who could stand against him. But compared to Ali… the gap was still vast. It would take at least four or five more years to reach that level—unless fate handed him a miraculous chance, something as rare as the Spirit Nectar.
And so, Logan made his decision: until he was absolutely certain, the cultivation technique would remain secret for now.
Hearing Logan's words, Ali leaned back against his chair, falling into deep thought. After a moment of silence, he finally spoke.
"So… one of the two favors you mentioned must be that I help you wipe out the Third Eye Sect for good, right?"
But Logan shook his head.
"No. I only need their location. The rest—I'll take care of myself."
"What?"
Ali's eyes widened, utterly stunned by Logan's response.
"Are you insane? Do you even have the faintest idea what kind of organization you're talking about?"
Logan's gaze remained steady, his tone calm yet resolute.
"How strong could a shady group like them possibly be? Unless one is an S-rank hunter, no one can stand against me anymore."
It wasn't arrogance—it was confidence. His strength had truly reached that level.
Ali raised an eyebrow, but instead of scolding him, he chuckled softly.
"It's hard to believe I'm sitting here talking to a boy barely thirteen or fourteen years old. But in one thing, you're dead wrong." His voice grew heavier, his smile fading.
"The Third Eye Sect has people who stand on the same level as S-rank hunters."
"What…?"
This time, it was Logan whose composure shattered. His heart trembled.
