Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 614: Engineer Cole

Shortly after receiving the permit slip, and confirming that the slip allowed him a week to be in the isolated area, Xu Feng gave his appreciation.

"You've been a great help, Miss Faye." He calmly said.

"Well, you're one of the few that I hadn't scolded at," Faye smirked and gestured her finger that it was time for him to leave.

No longer intruding on her further, Xu Feng stepped away and the next person in line was ready for his turn. Their expression was somewhat relieved and glad, having witnessed that Xu Feng didn't get scolded or the angry voice being echoed.

Alas, their hope was quickly crushed when Faye's tone returned to normal as a round of scolding began.

"You dare to come here when you don't even have all your information correct? Should I send you to a disciplinary hearing?"

Hearing that scolding, the people in the same line felt a cold chill running down their spines. Simultaneously, they all glanced at Xu Feng, who was safe from the scolding, exiting the Division Command Center.

'This brings me back to the old days with the administration center.' Xu Feng had to admit that this brought back some nostalgic memories.

It was nostalgic because he had been ruthlessly scolded by the people behind the counter back then for not being thorough and wasting their time. After all, it was his first time and not knowing what to do was natural.

A few seconds later, Xu Feng proceeded to descend lower to the isolated area.

As soon as he arrived, two guards approached him with an unfriendly gaze.

"A trainee?" One of the guards was dumbfounded by his appearance and seemed alert.

"If you say you got lost and scram, then we'll forget your presence here." His partner chimed in and said, but his hands were secretly reaching for the weapon.

Without a doubt, they were ready to apprehend Xu Feng on the spot. After all, a Trainee arriving in a restricted isolated area was an abnormality.

Meanwhile, Xu Feng remained calm and told them, "I have a permit slip that required me to treat a patient, Engineer Cole. I've received a permit slip from the Command Division Center as well."

"Stay still," the guards warned as one of them continued to watch Xu Feng while the other one began checking for the data.

The guard checking for the data then asked, "What is your name?"

"Michael, a Cleric Trainee from the Medical Division." Xu Feng responded swiftly.

"What is your clearance level?" When the guard asked that question, their partner was naturally confused by it.

Who didn't know a Trainee clearance level was only 1?

However, to their astonishment, Xu Feng responded, "My clearance level is 5."

Nodding, the guard confirmed the data and allowed him to enter. "Take this token. The isolated area is a bit special, so you need this token to roam around freely. There are other guards here and if they can't scan your token, then they will detain you with force."

"Thank you," Xu Feng accepted the token and proceeded to walk away.

Meanwhile, the guard's partner started to ask, "That Trainee has a clearance level of 5? Is his father one of the higher-ups on the ship?"

"No, he doesn't have that connection. But his clearance level was granted by Supervisor Harvey."

"Supervisor Harvey? You mean that big shot from the Medical Division?" Startled, the guard turned his gaze to the departing back of Xu Feng, finding the situation extremely shocking.

While the guards were dumbfounded, Xu Feng minded his own business and searched for the room that Engineer Cole was placed in.

It wasn't discrimination or anything, but for the safety of every crewmate in the battleship, Engineer Cole must and was also willing to be isolated.

However, the word willing was very determinant depending on the angle view of their perspective.

From the file he received, Engineer Cole's condition was deteriorating fast, and if no solution was found, then he would be executed for everyone's safety.

To simplify, he wasn't being given a great case to deal with, but was rather being tossed aside as a test to determine whether he was truly special or just a fraud.

If Cole's fate was to be executed, then the person who treated him could also become infected. Therefore, the person who treated Cole must be executed as well to guarantee complete safety.

'A double-layered trap.' Xu Feng smirked as he paused in front of a metal door that was heavily fortified and reinforced with special material that prevented the spread of anything.

To enter the interior, there would be an extended glass-like container that opened up to cover him before he could even open the door. The glass-like container was another layer of security against bacteria that might want to secretly escape.

And although Xu Feng had his uniform designed to guard against all bacterias, it was hard to say that he wouldn't remain healthy.

After all, Cole wouldn't have been infected with a supposedly deadly virus if the uniform design was flawless.

As Xu Feng pressed the button while scanning his permit slip, the metal door started making creaking noises as it opened up.

"Is it time for my execution?"

Before the door could even open fully, Xu Feng heard a voice from the interior, their tone filled with bitterness and acceptance.

"Do you think they will send a Trainee as an executioner?" To alleviate the mood, Xu Feng teased and entered the interior without fear. Bacteria or not, he still had to accomplish the task. Otherwise, he was destined to fail the Origin Trial.

"Good evening to you, Engineer Cole. I'm a Cleric Trainee from the Medical Division, Michael." He introduced himself, startling Cole.

Cole's eyes widened, seemingly confused as to why a Trainee was sent to him.

He then furrowed his brow and asked, "Did you perhaps offend a higher-up and get sent here to die with me?"

"Yes, so is there any space available for me?" Xu Feng clasped his hands and glanced around the interior, finding the room quite spacious.
