Reincarnated With the World Domination System

Chapter 3: Status

An innate ability! It must be related to Milford and his Machima Bloodline! Haha! I really want to awaken an ability now!

After the prayer, the nuns resumed their conversation.

"Has anyone younger than ten shown signs of ability awakening?" a nun most concerned about abilities asked the others.

"A few did. We must ensure no one from the military notices them, and we have to make sure the kids themselves won't reveal it, at least until they can fend for themselves," the nun cradling Rael softly spoke while gently swaying him left and right.

"Yes," said the nun across from her. "We must protect these gullible kids from those military fanatics and their dangerous space expansion ambitions."

As the nuns continued their conversation, Rael confirmed his suspicions with Dominica.

It looks like the world has turned its focus back to military might. And people awaken abilities at an early age. Space expansion must mean there's a whole lot more to this world, and that Earth's people can finally visit other worlds!

[If I may correct you, Lord Rael.]

Yeah, of course.

[From what the nun said, Earth's humanity likely colonizes other worlds rather than simply visiting them. They seize lands, resources, and communities by force, imposing their own culture for their benefit, which is far from harmless exploration.]

I guess I was too naive.

[Indeed.]

I don't think I can learn anything else from the nuns since they all went their own ways. I guess it's best not to awaken my ability until I can at least move on my own, or maybe do it silently so no one notices. Is that even possible?

[Both options are available to you, Lord Rael.]

Awakening quietly is one thing, but hiding it is another. That's going to be harder, especially now that I'm just an infant, right?

[Because you carry The Machima Bloodline, you will differ greatly in strength, aptitude, and potential from children your age. Even without an innate ability, you must be cautious not to reveal your circumstances or talent. I can conceal your awakened ability, but only for a price.]

A price?

[Correct. My creator sacrificed much on his path to godhood. You, his successor, must also pay a price to receive advantages on your journey to become the World Dominator. In your case, that price is experience points. Allow me to display your status.]

[Name: Rael]

[Rank: Unawakened]

[Age: 9 months]

[Race: Human]

[EXP: 10,000]

[Abilities: Dormant(3)]

[Attributes: Strength(F), Agility(F), Stamina(F), Vitality(F), Magic Power(F)]

Nine months? They're using an age system like old-school Korea did?

[I heard a nun say you are nine months old, so they likely use a system similar to the Korean Age. If my assumption is right, it could be to draft people into the military sooner.]

That makes sense, Dominica. My attributes are F because I'm just a baby, but with the Machima Bloodline, I should have tons of potential. As for these experience points… ten thousand?

[Lord Rael received ten thousand experience points in celebration of his successful reincarnation. I have calculated that I need three thousand EXP to hide your innate ability.]

My abilities are dormant, and I have three of them?

[Correct.]

Then it's better not to waste my experience points yet. Even if I finish the quest, don't reward me until I say so.

[As you wish, Lord Rael.]

Are these experience points basically to power you up?

[They have many uses. You may spend them to awaken other innate abilities or request new system features essential for your goals. More system features will unlock as you rise in rank, and those features will also consume EXP.]

How do I earn more EXP?

[You can earn them through quests and daily tasks.]

I see. I think they just put me to bed, and I'm getting sleepy. I'll rest and then learn more about this world. Good night.

[Good night, Lord Rael.]

It had been five years.

Rael was now officially six years old, living in the Nine Cross Orphanage run by nine nuns who believed in God, the creator of the vast universe.

They felt abandoned children should grow at their own pace, without anyone pushing them.

This caused issues, because military officials often visited to scout potential soldiers for their armies.

They cared only about abilities and how useful they might be.

Despite the nuns' efforts, some kids revealed their abilities to the officials and left with them.

Today, another of Rael's peers was leaving for a military dorm.

"See, guys! I'm an independent man! I can take care of myself! I'm outta here to become the best Colonel of Conquest, I swear!" declared an eight-year-old boy who was about to go.

Rael took a quick look at Sister Sophia, the main nun, and saw her pained expression. Without a doubt, the boy's ambition hurt her.

He then eyed the two military officers and thought, I don't think the sisters ever talk about "being independent men." He probably picked that up from them, but they barely spend any time with the kids. Dominica, what do you think?

[From your observations, there is a high probability that one of the nuns is secretly encouraging orphans to join the military, effectively selling them to the army.]

[You have received a new quest!]

[Find the traitor of Nine Cross Orphanage.]

[Reward: Second Innate Ability Awakening]

I haven't even awakened my first one yet, but it's about time I do. Let's get this done.
