Chapter 1662: Genius Idea?
-----
Aquarina had an idea.
Indeed, just an idea, it hasn't been tested at all before.
So technically Silvia and Khepri were her guinea pigs for this "idea" she had.
Of course, she wouldn't tell them this outright.
And she didn't have to worry either way, her mama would take the backlash so even if it failed, nothing bad would ever happen to them!
"So we'll test my idea, alright?" Aquarina smiled. She had a strange smile. If Sylphy was here, she would feel like Aquarina felt like her master Felicia right now. "We're going to test it in you! You don't mind right, Silvia?"
"T-Test it on me?!" Silvia asked. "Wait… You haven't done it before? How are you so sure it'll work."
"Uh… Ah, well…" However, Aquarina was unable to keep this idea a secret while wanting to execute it. "It shouldn't be impossible I mean. We'll do something similar to what I did with Justicio and Agua where they got a new Spirit out of the Alchemy Spirit Beast, but we're doing it in reverse. You're going to get a Physique out of an already existing Spirit you contracted, further connecting you with Khepri, and making your growth even faster."
"Ooooh! I get it now!" Silvia nodded, looking more relieved. "Wait a second, that's still kind of dangerous though!"
She grew worried as she glared at Aquarina while furrowing her eyebrows, but Aquarina patted her shoulders with a cocky smile.
"Don't worry about its Silvia, my mom is taking the backlash if it happens," she said. "So you're actually in no danger! It also means we can do all the experiments we want, isn't that crazy?"
"W-What? So I won't be harmed?" Silvia asked.
"Yeah, no harm!" Aquarina nodded.
"W-What about my feelings, Silvia?!" Khepri asked. "Do you really think I want to fuse part of my powers with you or something?!"
"Hah?! You're my contracted spirit, isn't that too late to complain now?!" Silvia said. "And what do you mean you don't want to? I thought we were best friends and stuff?"
"E-Eeeh…" Khepri muttered. "I mean we are yes but… Uh, I'm kind of scared, what if I receive backlash?!"
"You won't! Calm down, it's fine," sighed Aquarina. "Anyway, let's get to it already. Let's recycle the formation we left behind for Agua and add some other materials for your elements. So your Elements are Sunlight and Stone right? I suppose Earth and Light and Fire are kind of related."
"I-I didn't have Sunlight Elemental Affinity before, it was Stone and Sand I think, the usual Dual Affinity all of us Everstonians have, which usually just boils down to the bigger Earth Element that encompasses everything else," explained Silvia. "It can include Metal, Crystal, Sand, and Stone into Earth, as they're all derivations from it."
"Yeah I know, my mom mastered all those," nodded Aquarina. "And-"
"Wait what about Mud? Is that an Element? And Soil? I've always wondered that," Justicio commented, glancing at his friends.
"Hmm, good question…" Silvia said. "Is there Magic Specially for Mud?"
"I mean, isn't one of your mother's spirits a Mud Spirit or something?" Asked Justicio to Aquarina.
"Smilkas?" Aquarina asked. "Ah yeah I suppose so… Mom can you explain?"
"Yes, Soil and Mud could be called other divergent elements from Earth," explained Nepheline. "But they're rarely used, Soil is mostly just useless, you just use General Earth Spells instead. Manipulating just bland soil is very weak, everyone hardens it into Stone Magic anyway, if you want to deal any damage to your foe. Mud is different, because it is slimy and also very heavy, it can be used to trap foes, asphyxiate them, and also make pitfalls and stuff. Also build things, which then you harden into hard stone."
"That's cool!" Justicio said. "I wonder if we could learn these other elements, I've always wondered that… After all, just using Stone Magic for most of our offense and Sand Magic for movement is kind of boring."
"They're certainly the most suitable for your region," Shade explained. "This is why your tribe has specialized in it. After all, most of the time we don't really get to choose what to use as magic. We simply use what we were given and sometimes what we need to survive where we live. I suppose the Capital Elves have the most variety of magic due to being born in such a safe and huge place as that metropolis. Their magic tends to diverge and evolve into new forms as new generations are born because of the lack of needing to adapt to a certain element to survive."
"So that's how Elemental Affinities are created?" Aquarina wondered. "But why do I have Water Affinity if none of you do?"
"Eh, it can be hereditary as well, dear," her mother explained. "Perhaps our ancestors were good Water Element Manipulators. Most of the Amazonian Tribe we originate from are good at Wood, Fire, and Water magic already, with Earth being one of them too, but a bit rarer. Maybe my mom or dad had Water Element Affinity."
"Hmm…" Aquarina nodded. "Ah, I wish I had grandparents…"
Aquarina recalled how happy Sylphy was with her grandpa, feeling like she would like to feel that way with a grandpa or a grandma.
However, both of her parents were orphans, their parents died when they were children or maybe even toddlers. Nepheline was mostly raised by the whole tribe, while Shade was raised by the church of the gods as an assassin.
However, although they created certain bonds with people, especially Nepheline who loves her tribe very much, none of them ever made a strong enough bond to call someone their adoptive parent.
"Aquarina…" Nepheline sighed. "Hah, you don't have to say it like that! You think it was easy to grow up without parents? You're lucky you got us!"
"I suppose I can agree with the sentiment to an extent but there's nothing we can do about it," Shade patted her shoulders. "However, we promise you that if you ever have a child, we'll be good grandparents."
"T-Thanks…" Aquarina felt slightly happy, moved even.
Meanwhile, Silvia and Khepri glared at her with slightly angered expressions.
"Look at her, changing the subject completely!"
"Hey! Remember when you called us guinea pigs?!"
