Reincarnated To Evolve My Bee Empire

Chapter 322: An eye of the storm

I shot a stinger ahead of me, but was way off the mark. With the dragon and Tamsha moving as much as they were, I had to be extremely lucky to hit the dragon at all.

Then Tamsha flailed his arm wildly, almost hitting me, and I decided to not shoot at all. I could accidentally hit Tamsha himself, which will be the worst!

I raised my spear instead, preparing to stun the beast. Behind me, my bodyguards already dispersed into a formation made to distract enemies and give me the best opportunities for attack.

Tamsha screamed and fell to the ground together with the dragon, making me fumble my charge. His health was still high, he just lost his balance—and then began trying to bash the dragon on the ground.

However, a second dragon swooped in, trying to get at Tamsha's torso, which was open for aerial attacks now!

Now Tamsha was in an even worse position than before. Even if I got one dragon off him, another would immediately take its place, because there was an opportunity.

'Shit,' I cursed inwardly and dashed forward even faster.

Wind blew into my eyes, bringing tears out of them. With this speed, even the wind waves from a dragon's wings couldn't blow me off-way so easily.

I crashed bodily into the dragon, who was about to rip out Tamsha's liver and stabbed my spear wherever I could reach—into the creature's back. The force of blow blew the breath out of my lungs and broke the wooden handle of my spear. The golden tip became squashed, too, despite piercing the scales.

Electricity charged through me, and the golden cable attached to the spear, hitting the dragon instantaneously.

There was a smell of cooked meat and singed scales. The beast screeched and fell down, beating its wings weakly and almost bringing me down with it.

Thankfully, Destroyer and another bodyguard swooped in, catching me by shoulders and pulling me away from the convulsing beast. I still held the half-destroyed remains of my golden spear in my hand.

However, it was just like I expected. Bringing down this dragon didn't change Tamsha's position, just won him a little time!

In the next instant, I saw another dragon swooping at Tamsha from above. And the other one was still fighting the man and leaving many gashes on his arms and face.

Tamsha could lose his eyes like that!

And I just lost my spear and my electric charge…

'I didn't want to use this near a human, but fuck it. Whatever the consequences will be, I will deal with them later! Oh, now let's just hope it works.'

With these thoughts, I pulled two small tightly sealed glass vials out of my belt bag and gave one to Destroyer. Inside the vials was sloshing an almost transparent liquid.

I had only four more vials in total—they weren't easy to make—but I hoped they would be enough.

'Here,' I messaged Destroyed telepathically, since it was too loud to talk otherwise in this battle. 'Take half the squad and throw that into this dragon's nose. I and the other half of the squad will get the other one.'

I pointed Destroyer at the dragon, who was about to attack Tamsha from above, and charged toward the one who was about to bite the man's eyes out. My bodyguard didn't even have time to say "Yes, Father!".

But she gave orders out lightning-fast, and I heard five Beemarine bodyguards following me to my target. They didn't dally.

The fighting dragon didn't even notice me, but approaching it was still hard. It became easier after my bodyguards pulled out their bolas and threw them at the dragon.

The small projectiles provided only a minimal distraction of a creature this size. It paused just for a fraction of a second. Tamsha didn't even notice it—but I did.

I dashed to the dragon's head. It opened its maw and snapped it, and if I wanted to shoot the beast with my stinger, I'd surely fail. Then I'd be slapped away with a giant leathery wing.

Instead, I threw my glass vial at the beast's snout and buzzed past it without slowing down, avoiding its head, its wings, and even its swishing tail.

I flew so fast that the glass vial broke on the dragon's nose when it was already behind me. But even flying past it, I sensed a hint of the sweet scent coming from within.

Or maybe I was imagining things.

I flew farther away and pulled special leathering coverings that were hiding in the same bag as the vials and put them over my antennae. Immediately, the thick leather blocked the scents of forest, blood, and dragon musk.

But I still heard the angry screeches from behind me. Then, a telepathic message:

'We've got the target, Father!'

I turned around and saw the results of mine and Destroyer's work.

The two dragons that attacked Tamsha just a moment before now were sitting on their asses and turning their heads around in confusion!

Even their lizard brains couldn't deal with what they were currently experiencing. And oh boy, I really wondered *what* they were experiencing!

After all, the vials were full of pygmy hawkmoth pheromones. When used by hawkmoth themselves, they were somewhat predictable—but things became much stranger when other creatures smelled them.

And so far, no creature that we used them on was fully immune to their effects. Bees thought the hawkmoth was a bee. Wasps thought bees were wasps—or that wasps were bees? I did some experiments on feathered lizards and buggy mice—they became much friendlier to everything in sight after that.

Did affected dragons think we were all dragons there? Or did they think they became bees?

Either way, they stopped attacking. At the same time, Tamsha stopped fighting the dragons, too.

My bodyguards, which must've been too slow to avoid being struck by pheromones, blinked in confusion as well.

The battle around still raged, but the center of it became like an eye of the storm!
