Reincarnated Maid is About To Be Captured by All Players

Volume 2 Chapter 41

Initially, I was on guard against Chris, but she simply wiped my exposed back with a towel, which made me relax a bit. That was when she launched her surprise attack.

I realized that Chris’s actions were meant to make my back slicker with water, as I hadn’t soaked in the hot spring yet.

Even though I couldn’t confirm exactly what happened, I think Chris’s index finger must have traced from near my neck down my spine to my hips at a steady pace. It wasn’t a direct touch on my back but rather a hovering presence, leaving behind a trail of tensed nerves and a faint tickling sensation.

… Emitting such an embarrassing moan was certainly not my intention.

Chris seemed quite experienced at this?

I acted as if nothing had happened, but I knew I had to remain highly vigilant from now on.

“Meow?!”

This time it was Carole Cat who yelped.

“My tail…”

“That… I wanted to help clean your tail.”

“Your kindness is appreciated, meow… but tails are sensitive too…”

Carole Cat curled her tail to demonstrate. Catfolk’s tails extend from the coccyx, but do they really have a nervous system?

“Eh? Really? I’ve never had much contact with beastfolk.”

Chris immediately perked up.

“So beastfolk tails are sensitive to touch?”

“Of course, meow… But aren’t there many beastfolk in the Kingdom of Micael?”

“True, Micael and Arcadia are friendly nations, but Ende isn’t exactly a popular place. The adventurers I usually send on missions are mostly humans; very few are beastfolk, let alone elves.”

“…I had other reasons for coming to the Kingdom of Micael.”

Higdelytha continued the conversation while scrubbing Lily’s back.

“But now I don’t have time to pursue those… Anyway, we elves live long lives, so a temporary delay is not a big issue.”

“The long-lived elves… Midgard… I’d love to visit it.”

“I’d advise against it for now. Midgard has changed.”

“I know, the Elven King is at war with the Kingdom of Garuda, and our king sent support. You’re not upset about this topic, are you?”

“No, it’s fine. Is it because of the Abrahamic faith’s duty to help their kin? The Kingdom of Micael marrying off their third princess and sending troops for support doesn’t seem beneficial.”

“There must be an agreement between our king and Garuda’s. The public information is just part of it. Duke Valois also went to Garuda with the knights, probably to fulfill the king’s task.”

The king of Micael must have his reasons to ally through marriage with Garuda, sending his own daughter to a notorious prince and aiding Garuda. Without a good reason, it would imply that Micael’s king is just too generous.

But regardless, it’s unfair for the third princess whose life was decided without her consent.

“The third princess is about my age, leaving her homeland soon. The fates of royal princesses are out of their control. The first princess was also married off to Duke Carolingian to maintain good relations with the high nobility, but fortunately, the duke is a decent noble.”

“Royal life is tough, meow?”

“Yes, princesses and royal daughters, unless their families lack heirs, are valued mainly for marriage alliances. It’s always been like this in the Kingdom of Micael.”

The three major human kingdoms have slightly different inheritance laws. Micael follows male primogeniture, while Azlazel and Garuda have other methods, though the specifics are similar. For instance, in Azlazel, dukes and lower ranks inherit titles, but the king is elected by nobles.

Azlazel has seven electors, the most powerful nobles who vote for a new king from among themselves. Due to this electoral system, it’s hard for Micael to maintain good relations with Azlazel, so their princesses often marry powerful local nobles.

Lily carefully scrubbed Carole Cat’s back while listening to Chris’s story. Chris’s topic was serious, but her fingers occasionally sneaking under my armpit made it hard for me to concentrate. I clenched my teeth to suppress any strange moans, focusing on washing Higdelytha’s back to distract myself.

“Lady Chris, what about the second princess?”

Lily raised her hand, inquiring. The current king of Micael has three daughters: the first married a local noble, the third soon to marry into Garuda, and the second princess…

“The second princess… uh…”

Chris hesitated, which only fueled the girls’ curiosity.

“What about the second princess?” Higdelytha asked, intrigued.

“I heard there are bad rumors about the second princess of Micael,” Carole Cat chimed in.

With everyone’s attention on her, Chris sighed reluctantly.

I would have believed it all.
