Volume 2 Chapter 29
As we traveled further from Hesst, we encountered fewer adventurers on the road.
“Phew—”
“Lord Trafalgar?”
“Alright, we need to find a place to rest.”
Trafalgar suddenly stopped.
“You’re in a state of 【Severe Fatigue】… You’ve been dealing with adventurers using magic, and traveling at high speed while carrying someone. It’s impressive you’ve managed so well without showing signs of strain.”
“But I can still…”
“No, that’s enough. You don’t want to face an unexpected situation while exhausted, right?”
“…”
I couldn’t argue. My combat ability was greatly reduced due to severe fatigue. Although I had good stamina, I was indeed in a dangerous state under the severe fatigue debuff.
“He’s right… We all need to rest.”
Higdelytha jumped down from the horse. Not just her, Lily and Trafalgar also had the fatigue debuff.
“Alright.”
Nobody was on my side, and I truly didn’t have the confidence to force others to continue working intensively. According to my geographical skills, we were quite far from Baron Hesst’s territory, and it had been about half an hour since we last encountered any adventurers.
Since we had escaped the encirclement of adventurers, it was time to adjust properly.
Higdelytha carried Lily down from the horse and brought the sleepy child to me.
“Are you okay, Anna?”
Higdelytha squatted beside me, asking in a voice too low for Trafalgar to hear.
I blushed and lowered my head, realizing what she was referring to.
“I’m, I’m fine…”
“Thought so.”
I felt like burying my head in the sand, experiencing an intense embarrassment similar to having my adolescent notes exposed.
“I thought it would happen around now. Don’t push yourself.”
“Ugh…”
“What are you two talking about?”
“Girl talk, go away.”
“???”
Trafalgar, confused, was ruthlessly dismissed by Higdelytha. However, understanding Higdelytha’s special care for me, he seemed to get something and left us to patrol nearby.
Without a nearby spring, I used water elemental magic to solve our water needs, which was actually much cleaner.
“Ah, why go into such detail… This feels awful…”
If the game developers were in front of me, I’d make them eat chimera meat until they burst.
“I’ve changed… Lifa. How many more times…”
I asked weakly, admittedly clueless in this area.
“It varies… Within seven days is normal.”
Seven days… That means it’s normal to lose blood every day for the next few days. Such a hassle…
Whenever this happened, Higdelytha always smiled mischievously, seeming to enjoy seeing me helpless and seeking her help. She’s too bad.
“Lily has fallen asleep.”
“Kids aren’t good at staying up late…”
We rested on the spot, and Lily, previously struggling to stay awake, finally succumbed to sleep.
Looking at Lily’s sweet sleeping face, my heart was filled with mixed emotions. We couldn’t live in Trafalgar’s barony and had to start a nomadic life again.
“Anna.”
Higdelytha’s expression suddenly changed, and she stood up with a dagger in hand.
“Someone’s approaching.”
“An adventurer?”
“Seems like it… There’s just one, and I’m sure it’s not the baron.” Higdelytha frowned, “But why is he heading straight for us?”
As she spoke, the target entered my detection range. The person seemed to have a mount and was moving fast.
The area was grassland and it was night, making it difficult to track by footprints, especially since he was coming from a different direction than the one we took. But as Higdelytha said, he was heading straight for us, as if knowing our location.
Higdelytha went into stealth, and I also drew my weapon.
The person was getting closer, and I could make out their figure.
“Uh…”
“Anna?”
“Lifa, calm down, he’s probably not a bad guy, I know him.”
The rider was dressed as a knight, fully armed, riding a white horse. In my memory, only one adventurer fit this description.
“Oh! My lady! Thank the Father God for not abandoning my chance to protect you!”
Smiley’s Ivanhe.
It was him… Despite being an adventurer, his manner of speaking was particularly immersive.
Ivanhe dismounted, and knowing he would go on a long monologue once he started talking, I quickly asked.
“Greetings. Lord Ivanhe of Smiley, what brings you here so late?”
“Forgive me, my lady! As your loyal and true knight, I failed to be by your side during your peril… Once things settle down, I’m willing to accept any punishment, but now please allow me to be your sword, clearing obstacles for you…”
Well, I couldn’t stop his lengthy speech. Ivanhe started rambling again. But I understood his purpose; was it Carol Cat’s call or Ivanhe’s own will? He came to help us.
The only troubling thing was how Ivanhe managed to locate us so precisely, as he didn’t seem like an adventurer skilled in astrology.
“——Not good.”
Trafalgar, who went on patrol, hurried back.
“The road ahead is blocked by the 【Black Hawk Mercenary Group】!”
