Chapter 32: Chapter - 29 : Talks Between Lovers!!!
The seventh day passed, the eighth, and the ninth, and yet Long Chen continued with his endless amount of work...
The week seemed to blur as the hours melted into each other, the intensity of his work and responsibilities pressing heavily on his shoulders. His body grew tired, each day becoming more tiresome and now the fatigue remained an insistent companion.
Despite the exhaustion, Long Chen did not allow himself rest. He only took a breath when he was finished with all discussions, about the battle strategies, the Legion's unison in term of battling in a team as well as checking on Guo Ran, Mo Nian and helping Yue Zifeng along with Sect Leader Yunzi.
Still, as a mortal, Long Chen eventually succumbed to the exhaustion, and his consciousness finally shut down. The fatigue that had accumulated over the days dragged him into a deep sleep.
But suddenly a voice awoke him…
It was non-other than Ye Zhiqiu, who called for him and so, Long Chen sighed and got up moving with her till both reached to a small fire place outside Meng Qi's Immortal Cave, all of them sitting while expectantly waiting for him.
It was a peaceful evening, and the warm glow of the setting sun bathed the area. . The air was still, filled only with the sounds of the distant rustling of leaves and the gentle splashing of water from the nearby pond. The soft scent of flowers lingered in the air, and the atmosphere was serene, almost magical.
Long Chen could find none of other members of Dragon Blood Legion except for his lovers there. And suddenly Ye Zhiqiu joined the girls and all of them smiled and looked at each other including Tang Wan'er shocking Long Chen as the thought rose in is mind, 'How did the immature girl suddenly became mature!!!'
Long Chen also sat under a large tree just beside the Immortal Cave beside the fire, his back leaning against the trunk, looking at his beloved women: Chu Yao, Meng Qi, Tang Wan'er, Lu Fang'er, Xiao Hua, and Ye Zhiqiu were all gathered together, enjoying the rare moment of calm. They had been through so much together—battling enemies, climbing mountains, training relentlessly—but right now, there was no talk of cultivation or world-saving. It was just the six of them, talking about their lives, their dreams, and their hearts.
"Long Chen," Chu Yao started with a concerned face, "Do you ever take a break? Why are you always this full of energy?"
Long Chen laughed, leaning back against a nearby tree and in an assuring tone, "Why would I need a break, dear Princess? There's always something to be done, something to improve on. But for you, I'll make an exception."
Meng Qi, who was seated next to him, raised an eyebrow. "You're always so serious about everything and always act if you are preparing for something. I know that you are always thinking for the future, but surely even you need to rest when you get tired."
Long Chen grinned, "Tired? Not yet. When you have the will to accomplish your goals, rest can be saved for another day. Besides, being around all of you helps keep my energy up." He looked affectionately at each of them while still he felt extremely tired but didn't them to know.
Xiao Hua, the soft-spoken one, she adjusted her long, flowing robes, and as she grabbed Long Chen's face, she said, "Long Chen, you know how much we appreciate your dedication and wish to never show us your weak side. But even so, you know, you can't lie to us, right?" Her voice was gentle, but filled with sadness and worry as she looked into his tired eyes.
"So, Long Chen", Chu Yao began, trying to uplift everyone's mood, "When was the last time you sat down and just enjoyed yourself without thinking about anything else?"
Long Chen grinned, shifting slightly to make himself more comfortable. "Enjoy myself? You mean without training or leading the Dragon Blood Legion?" He chuckled lightly, but the smile on his face softened as he looked at each of them. "Well, to be honest, moments like this... these are the times I treasure the most. But I've been so focused on our goals and the future that I haven't truly stopped to appreciate the present."
Meng Qi, always the insightful one, gave him a knowing look. "You don't always have to carry the weight of everything on your shoulders, you know. We're here with you, and we're your family. You don't have to be perfect."
Long Chen met her gaze and smiled warmly. "I know. It's just... hard sometimes. You're all so precious to me, and I want to protect all of you. I don't want to let any of you down. And surely do not want anyone of you to be injured or hurt". He said as his eyes looked over all of them including Ye Zhiqiu who then started blushing only to be teased by Lu Fang'er.
Xiao Hua, gently placed a hand on his arm "You never let us down, Long Chen. We're a team. And part of being a family is being there for each other, not just when it's easy, but especially when it's hard. We support you, always."
Tang Wan'er laughed softly, a playful glint in her eyes. "Well, I'm not here right now for talks about the intense training or epic battles. I'm here because I love you and want to spend time with you. And I think all of us do, in our own way."
All the girls nodded and then Tang Wan'er who was praised by Xiao Hua: "Wow, sister Wan'er is a greatly mature person." Hearing which Tang Wan'er started flushing red understanding that her words were too good to be normally hers.
Long Chen looked at her, and his eyes softened, his voice tender, "I love you all too. You're not just my strength. You're my heart."
Lu Fang'er leaned forward, her eyes thoughtful, "We've been through so much together, Long Chen. From the very beginning, when you found us and helped us find our place... I don't know where I'd be without you. You've given me—no, not only me but all of us more than I could have ever asked for."
Long Chen's smile deepened, and he reached out, gently patting her hand, "Fang'er, I'm glad we found each other. You all've made my life more complete than I ever imagined."
Chu Yao tilted her head slightly, her eyes soft and affectionate, "And now, you've become part of our family, too. No matter where we go, or what happens, we'll always have each other."
The group fell into a quiet, contented silence, simply enjoying the company of one another. Long Chen's heart felt full, knowing that his strength came not just from his cultivation or his skills, but from the love and support of the people around him.
After a moment, Meng Qi spoke up again, her voice gentle. "Long Chen, have you ever thought about... meeting your family? I mean, we have not visited them since the last time and neither could we during the war time. When shall we go?"
Even Tang Wan'er and Ye Zhiqiu expressed their thoughts to meet their future parents; Father & Mother-in-laws.
Long Chen's expression shifted slightly, his gaze drifting towards the horizon. There was a fleeting sadness in his eyes, but it quickly disappeared as he took a deep breath. "I haven't had time to put some thought in it much, to be honest. Well, let's just say things haven't always been easy. But I think it's time, isn't it?"
Lu Fang'er nodded, her voice encouraging, "You don't have to be alone in this, Long Chen. If you want to meet your family, we'll be there with you. You don't have to face it alone."
Xiao Hua, Tang Wan'er and Ye Zhiqiu smiled gently, their voice soft. "We'll go with you."
Princess Chu Yao gave a playful wink. "Besides, I also wanna meet mom and dad. And so does my kid brother Chu Feng."
Meng Qi smiled warmly, "We'll be right by your side. Family doesn't just come from blood—it also comes from the people who stand by you, who love you, who are there for you no matter what. Ofcourse Father and mother (Long Chen's parents are also basically her parents) included."
Long Chen finally stood up, his heart filled with a mix of excitement, "Alright, then. I'll go meet my family. No, all of the Dragon Blood Legion will go visit my family as well as theirs."
Tang Wan'er clapped her hands, a grin spreading across her face. "Okay, then this will be an adventure, a long Group trip where we will enjoy like mortals"
As the conversation continued, the group laughed and joked, talking about their shared future and the memories they would create together. Long Chen, though still determined, found a sense of peace in belief for being the ones on whom he could rely on and ones to whom love with all his heart.
And so, as the sun finally set and the stars began to twinkle in the night sky, Long Chen made a vow to himself: he would face whatever challenges came his way—with his family beside him, anything was possible.
But after another long hour, Long Chen felt devastated as he felt asleep but the girls continued talk more and more with never ending talks, and so to escape from this problem, he had to put the girls in problem. With the girls in their own talk enjoying, Long Chen used his Spiritual Energy to call forth all the girls of Dragon Blood Legion, including Sister Qing Yu, a elder sisterly figure and caretaker to Tang Wan'er who is also renown for her bad habit, 'Endless Blabber'.
As soon as all other arrived and the girls got busy, Long Chen escaped while Meng Qi sighed murmuring, "You could have told if you wanted to rest. Have sweet dreams." And as the voice reached Long Chen, he got a bit emotional for the fact but he just didn't want the girls to stop enjoying.
After returning to his room, Long Chen drifted into unconsciousness and found himself engulfed by darkness. It was not the peaceful, soothing black of a restful sleep. No, this darkness was far more profound. It was a void, stretching out in all directions, unending and infinite. In the midst of this darkness, a faint, almost imperceptible voice echoed out, vibrating through Long Chen's very soul.
"Oh, Nine Star Heir," the voice called, clear yet distant.
Long Chen pondered, "Guide?" too which the voice gave a positive response.
"How do you know?" the voice asked, its tone neither hostile nor kind, but filled with something far heavier—curiosity tainted with dread. "How do you know of the Sovereign Heaven? How do you understand the truth of Sovereign Heaven's existence which is a secret in current era even in Immortal Worlds/Continents much like your Mortal World? And most of all... how did you remove the karma of speaking its name in the mortal world?"
Long Chen twitched in his sleep, his mind stirring. The questions weighed upon him like chains, dragging him toward consciousness. He wanted to speak, to answer, but an invisible force clenched his throat. It was not fear, nor was it reluctance—he simply could not. His body, his soul, his very essence refused to give form to the words.
Seeing his struggle, the voice sighed. It did not press him further understanding the rule of unspoken be unspoken and the rule of Karma.
"It's okay. I understand."
But just as Long Chen's consciousness seemed to settle, something within him shifted. His breathing grew unsteady, his body trembled ever so slightly, and when he finally parted his lips, he returned to normal back to sleep.
