Reincarnated into a Doomed Novel as an Unknown Extra

After killing the wolves, we continued moving forward, only stopping a few times to rest.

We were attacked by more monsters from time to time, but most of them were easy to kill.

I was especially happy seeing how Selene was getting used to killing monsters rapidly. Maybe I was a great motivator after all.

In our way, we collected some strange types of unknown plants. They were the only spoils we got beside some aura cores. All the monsters' corpses and the mana cores were taken by that fucking gluttony raven!

Finally, after a few hours, we reached the barrier of the third section.

"Shall we pass through it now?" Selene asked, her eyes a little heavy after all that killing.

I scanned her bloody body, then scanned mine before shaking my head. "We can't fight Tier-3 monsters recklessly like before. We have to remove this blood first and rest a little."

As I finished talking, night terror grew slightly and covered both my face and hair. Then the blood began to leak out of it.

After a moment, my face was revealed again as a clean face while all the blood was now on the ground.

*CRACK!*

At the same time, all the blood covering Selene froze and shattered.

Then we sat on the ground to rest as I pulled our meal from my storage.

Of course, it was life bars!

I handed Selene one as I began to eat mine.

She sniffed the black hard bar before covering her nose in disgust. "Ew…! Is this thing edible?"

"That's what the poor people eat." I casually took another bite. "It's disgusting, but it has all that your body may need to satisfy your hunger. You have to get used to it and keep some for emergencies."

Selene looked at the bar nervously, then slowly she took a small bite.

Her face twitched in disgust instantly, but she still ate it.

'Good, she isn't that bad. Hey Glutton, do you want one too?'

After Selene finished her meal, I took a small vial from my storage and handed it to her.

She looked at it with confusion, "What is this?"

I took another similar vial and dumped all of it on Glutton.

[Hey! It smells like shit!]

"It's something to remove your scent temporarily. I don't want to get surrounded by a bunch of Tier-3 monsters." I pointed at a tree, "Hide behind a tree and cover your body, sword and clothes with it."

"Mhm."

She hid behind the tree for a few moments before returning to us without any scent, including the potion scent itself.

"We are ready now." I said while channeling phantom wind aether through my body and mask.

Slowly, all color began to drain from my body until I disappeared completely.

I tried to move a little to the side, but Selene's eyes were still following me without surprise.

Curiously, I asked: "You can see me? This technique is supposed to make me invisible. I have just learned it recently."

Selene laughed softly. "I can't see you. You are invisible, but you are still here surrounded by air. It's like how I can know if a bag is empty or not."

I nodded in understanding as I stepped into the barrier with Selene and Glutton.

That problem needed to be fixed later.

Instantly, I sensed 2 nearby monsters. Judging by their body structures, they seemed to be our targets.

I appeared beside Selene, pointing at a certain path. "I found our targets. Follow this direction."

With slow, steady steps, we moved to the monsters' direction.

When my ears began to hear their soft growls, a grin plastered over my face.

'It's them! Glutton, remember that you can't eat the corpses. The mission is about collecting 5 of them.'

[Tsk, I know.]

After a few minutes of moving, I stopped Selene silently as I hid with her behind a tree.

I whispered behind her ear: "Our targets are here. Take a look silently."

Selene moved her head to the side, but once she saw the targets, her body began to tremble again.

Standing on more than 2.5 meters, 2 humanoid figures — male and female — with lean muscular bodies were eating the corpse of one of their kind beside a small lake.

They looked no different than normal humans except for their pale grey skin, wide jaws, pure white eyes, and the sharp claws in the end of their hands.

"Ghouls." I whispered, "Humanoid monsters that are intelligent enough to hide their lower parts with a piece of clothing and have relationships. They usually have only an aura core without affinities, but you better stay cautious."

Selene froze for a long moment, then turned her head toward me. "Ray… can-can you please kill them yourself, only this time."

"Why? We are here to improve together and get some experience. I'll take the male until you finish the other."

Her lips began to tremble. "But-but they don't look like monsters… but just another race. They even look like a couple…"

With a smile, I put my hand on her head and turned it toward the ghouls again.

"Look closely, Selene. They are eating another ghoul with smiles."

She frowned after noticing this.

"They don't kill each other, but they kill one of their kind brutally. They are ready to harm a stranger to satisfy their own desires."

I stopped my invisibility and stood before her, silently casting a barrier to stop sounds.

"Tell me, Selene. If such creatures aren't monsters, then what are they."

Selene tried to turn her head away and avoid eye contact, but I fixed her head firmly and brought my face closer to her, looking her directly in the eyes.

"If we were strangers and both of you and your father were starving without food, would you kill me to eat my body?"

"What — No! I'd never do this!" She denied firmly.

"Then tell me." I smiled. "If you were a poor ill girl without money, would you steal my own hard earned money to buy yourself medicine?"

Hearing my words, she answered without hesitation. "No!"

My smile widened. "If we were freezing to death, and only I had a blanket, would you take it from me and let me die?"

"No!!"

I patted her head softly. "If you did the opposite of what you said — Do you know what you will become?"

She nodded. "A monster."

"Yeah Selene!" I pointed at the ghouls. "You will be like them, a creature that has lost its rights due to its disgusting nature. We could hunt you, skin you, use you or Kill you without even a hint of guilt."

I sighed. "Just like the ghouls and some corrupted people hidden in our society, monsters… in humanoid forms."
