Chapter 12: The Meeting That Took Place

Lunch Break…

During the break, Kazuki was called to the Occult Research Club by his King Rias.

Upon arriving, he found everyone except Issei and Asia already gathered.

However, what caught his attention were the two unexpected guests in the room.

Kazuki's eyes immediately recognized one of them: the elegant and authoritative Sona Sitri, Kuoh Academy's student council president.

"Hello, Fuwa-kun," Sona greeted, her tone formal yet slightly warm.

"Good afternoon, President Sitri," Kazuki replied, bowing his head slightly in respect.

His gaze shifted to the young man accompanying her, someone he didn't recognize.

However, the faint yet distinct aura of magic emanating from both of them raised his suspicions. Leaning slightly toward Yumi, who stood beside him, he whispered, "Yumi, are they...?"

Yumi chuckled softly. "You're sharp as ever, Kazuki-senpai. That's right! They're devils like us."

Kazuki's thoughts drifted momentarily as he pieced together the details from his fragmented memories. Then, Issei and Asia entered the clubroom, and Rias formally introduced the guests.

"This is Sona Sitri, heir to the Sitri family, one of the 72 Pillars, and my childhood friend," Rias explained with a smile. "Her older sister is Leviathan, one of the Four Great Devil Lords."

The young man beside her, introduced as Saji Genshirou, was a second-year student at Kuoh Academy and Sona's Pawn. He had recently become a devil, just like Kazuki and the rest of Rias' peerage.

Saji's demeanor, however, was far from humble. He sneered at Issei, mocking him for failing to sense their demonic nature earlier. This earned him a sharp reprimand from Sona.

Kazuki's sharp eyes narrowed as he observed Saji's behavior.

The boy's aura carried a familiar undertone, a dragon's presence, similar to Issei's. Saji, clearly aware of this connection, seemed intent on challenging Issei with his words, his tone laced with rivalry.

However, this wasn't the time or place for such arrogance. The meeting was meant to foster camaraderie between the two peerages, not to flaunt power.

Saji's behavior was reckless and bordered on insulting his master.

As expected, Sona admonished him again, her sharp words cutting through his bravado.

When Sona introduced Kazuki and mentioned his victory over Riser at the rating game, Saji's eyes widened in astonishment, his earlier arrogance replaced by grudging respect.

Later that day…

The Occult Research Club gathered in Kazuki's place for an impromptu meeting.

The reason was the footage of Kazuki's fight against Riser that had finally been edited, and they decided to watch it together as part of a review session.

Kazuki leaned against the wall, arms crossed, and sighed, "I get the review meeting, but why the hell does it have to be in my residence?"

Rias, lounging comfortably on his bed, smirked. "Because it's more fun this way, Kazuki."

Akeno added with a teasing smile, her voice dripping with playful malice, "And besides, Kazuki-kun, your home has... a certain charm."

Kazuki groaned inwardly, knowing full well what they meant. This wasn't just about the fight review—it was yet another excuse for them to invade his personal space and stir up trouble.

According to Rias, the old school building was undergoing its monthly cleaning by familiars, making their usual clubroom unavailable.

Hence, Kazuki's place was the default choice, or so she claimed.

Not fully convinced, Kazuki sighed and resigned himself to his fate. He headed to the kitchen to prepare tea for everyone but stopped in his tracks when he saw Akeno already there, gracefully brewing tea.

"I'm borrowing your kitchen for a bit," Akeno said with her usual radiant smile.

"Yeah, sure… Sorry for making a guest do this," Kazuki replied, feeling awkward.

He quickly grabbed a large bag of potato chips from his stash and poured them into a bowl to accompany the tea Akeno had prepared.

Carrying the refreshments back to the living room, Kazuki set everything down and announced, "Alright, we're good to go."

Rias picked up the remote and addressed the group. "Let's get started. We'll watch the footage straight through first, then discuss any key points afterward. Alright, VTR, start!"

As the credits rolled over the ending theme, Kazuki slumped in his seat, utterly mortified.

The early parts of the video were tolerable, but as the footage progressed, the embarrassment mounted.

Midway through, there was a scene of Kazuki casually chatting with Ravel while Issei and Yumi were locked in deadly combat. He could feel the judgmental stares from the others during that segment.

But then, the tide shifted.

The scene where Kazuki effortlessly dispatched four of Riser's peerage had everyone, save for Yumi who had witnessed it firsthand, staring at him wide-eyed.

The ending? Oh, the ending.

It was a parade of his over-the-top antics: smacking Rias in the face, laughing hysterically after mocking Riser's pathetic reasons for wanting to marry her, and finally donning his bio-boosted Guyver armor to unleash unrelenting carnage on Riser.

The pièce de résistance?

The video concluded with a slow-motion kiss between Kazuki and Rias, framed dramatically with swelling orchestral music in the background.

"To break someone down so thoroughly only to lift them up in the end… What a master manipulator you are, Kazuki-kun," Akeno teased, her voice dripping with mischief.

"That wasn't my intention, Akeno-san," Kazuki replied, his voice weary.

"You really let Riser have it on my behalf!! I feel so much better," Yumi said with a satisfied smile on her beautiful face.

"Me too! When you shouted, 'This is for Yumi!' I couldn't help but feel touched," Koneko added with rare enthusiasm.

"Glad you liked it… but can we not bring it up so much? It's embarrassing." Kazuki replied to the compliments.

"Ahh… It was amazing, but a little scary," Asia murmured, fidgeting nervously.

"Sorry for scaring you, Asia," Kazuki said, trying to soothe her.

"Ugh, the president's lips… my Buchou's lips…!" Issei wailed dramatically, tears and snot streaming down his face.

"And at that moment… you were so… intense, Kazuki…" Rias said dreamily, her cheeks flushed.

"Oi, stop fantasizing about that scene, Rias!" Kazuki barked, feeling a fresh wave of embarrassment wash over him.

"And Issei, for the love of everything holy, wipe that stupid crying face! You're making a mess!"

Kazuki's gaze shifted to the screen as the praises revealed the culprit behind the video's bombastic editing. His eyes widened in disbelief.

"Wait… Grayfia did all this?!" he exclaimed, staring at the list of acclaims: "Filming, directing, editing, music, sound effects—Grayfia Lucifuge."

"Does she have nothing better to do? And why is she this skilled at editing?!" Kazuki wondered.
